Chapter 33: Farfetch'd Trick! Togepi Hatched! Bulbasaur Evolving Where?
Lyra and her friends were resting in a quiet, sunlit meadow after a long stretch of travel. A gentle breeze passed through the tall grass, carrying the soft scent of wildflowers. It was peaceful—one of those rare moments where nothing urgent was happening.
Lyra sat slightly apart from the others, her full attention on the two Eevee eggs resting carefully beside her. Every now and then, she adjusted their position or checked their warmth, her expression soft and protective.
A few feet away, Misty was doing the same with her own egg, cradling it close like it was something fragile and precious.
Meanwhile, Tomo was happily playing with Growlithe, Pichu, Pikachu, and Zorua, who had been let out to stretch and relax. Their laughter and playful sounds filled the meadow, bringing a sense of life to the calm surroundings.
"You know," Brock said casually, glancing around the area, "there's a rumor that a Pokémon called Farfetch'd lives somewhere around here."
That instantly caught Lyra's attention.
"Farfetch'd?" she repeated, pulling out her X-Dexter. Her eyes scanned the information quickly.
"Farfetch'd, the Wild Duck Pokémon," she read aloud. "It carries a leek and uses it like a weapon. Apparently, it can cut through objects with surprising precision."
Tomo's eyes lit up immediately. "That sounds awesome! I want one!"
Lyra smiled slightly at his enthusiasm.
"Maybe you'll get your chance," she said.
After a short while, Lyra, Tomo, and Brock decided to head toward a nearby stream to collect fresh water, leaving Misty behind in the meadow.
Not long after they left, the peaceful quiet was broken by a faint rustling sound coming from a nearby bush.
Misty stiffened.
"Oh no… please don't be something creepy…" she muttered under her breath.
The bush shook again.
Then suddenly—
A Farfetch'd stepped out.
Misty's eyes widened. "Oh wow!"
Without thinking, she immediately ran after it.
The Farfetch'd darted through the grass, quick and nimble, and Misty chased after it, determined not to lose sight of it.
While running, she accidentally collided with someone.
"Oof!"
"Sorry!" Misty said quickly, stepping back.
The boy she bumped into had brown hair and a calm expression.
"It's fine," he said, picking something up and handing it to her. "You dropped this."
Misty took her backpack without thinking much of it. "Thanks!"
The boy nodded and walked away.
Still focused on the Farfetch'd, Misty eventually gave up the chase and returned to the others.
"Mist, where did you go?" Lyra asked as she approached.
"I saw a Farfetch'd!" Misty said excitedly. "I tried to catch up to it, but it was too fast."
"You're lucky," Tomo said, clearly a little jealous.
Lyra chuckled and gently ruffled his hair. "Relax. We'll find another one."
Brock handed Misty her water canteen.
But as Misty opened her backpack—
She froze.
"…What?"
Then—
"WHAT?!"
Instead of her belongings, the bag was filled entirely with potatoes.
"My backpack got switched!" she shouted. "All my Pokémon were inside it!"
"At least your egg wasn't in there," Brock pointed out.
Misty immediately hugged her egg tightly. "Thank goodness…"
The Theft
The group wasted no time and rushed to the nearest police station, where they explained everything to Officer Jenny.
Jenny sighed, already looking tired.
"Another case…" she said, pointing to a wanted poster. "That boy—his name is Keith—and his Farfetch'd have been targeting trainers all week. You're the sixth victim."
Misty clenched her fists, her anger rising fast.
"When I find him—"
Lyra, Brock, and Tomo slowly stepped back, sensing the dangerous aura around her.
Meanwhile…
Deep in the forest, Keith sat comfortably inside a small tent, grinning to himself.
"We really struck gold this time," he said, looking at the pile of stolen backpacks.
Each one contained PokéBalls.
"Thirty-six Pokémon in just one week…" he chuckled. "Not bad at all."
Beside him, Farfetch'd stood quietly, watching.
What neither of them noticed, however, was a small figure slipping away—
Misty's Oddish had escaped.
Tracking the Thief
Back in the forest, Lyra and the others searched carefully.
Then—
"Oddish!"
Misty ran forward, relief flooding her face. "You're okay!"
Oddish nodded happily, then turned and began leading them deeper into the woods.
Soon enough, they found Keith.
"We've finally caught you," Officer Jenny said firmly.
"Give me back my Pokémon!" Misty snapped.
Lyra crossed her arms. "Why steal Pokémon instead of training your own?"
Keith hesitated before answering.
"My Farfetch'd is weak… I didn't have a choice."
Lyra's expression hardened.
"That's honestly the most pathetic excuse I've ever heard."
Brock added, "Pokémon get stronger through training—not stealing."
Keith admitted he had never even tried training Farfetch'd.
Everyone immediately facepalmed.
Battle Time
Farfetch'd stepped forward, gripping its leek tightly.
Lyra stepped forward as well. "Dratini, let's go."
"Use Slam."
Dratini lunged forward, striking hard—but Farfetch'd quickly dodged, moving faster than expected.
It countered with Fury Attack, striking repeatedly with its leek.
Keith stared in disbelief. "I… didn't know it could do that…"
Dratini grew frustrated.
Then—
She began to glow.
Her body lengthened, her form shifting gracefully—
Dragonair.
"Whoa…" Lyra whispered.
But before she could continue—
Misty stepped forward.
"My turn."
She sent out Oddish.
Farfetch'd mocked it, clearly underestimating it.
Oddish grew angry—
And suddenly evolved into Gloom.
"Two evolutions in one day…" Lyra said, impressed.
"Stun Spore!" Misty commanded.
The powder spread through the air, paralyzing Farfetch'd instantly.
The battle was over.
Resolution
Keith was arrested and taken to the station.
Brock treated Farfetch'd with medicine.
"I've learned my lesson," Keith said quietly. "I'll train properly from now on."
Misty got her Pokémon back, relief washing over her.
"I hope he means it."
"If not," Lyra said calmly, "he'll answer to my Dragonair."
Tomo's Catch
Just then, another Farfetch'd appeared nearby.
"That one's mine!" Tomo shouted.
"Go, Growlithe!"
"Flamethrower!"
The flames shot forward, but Farfetch'd dodged.
"Bite!"
Growlithe lunged and landed a solid hit.
"Now!"
Tomo threw a PokéBall.
Click.
It shook once… twice…
Captured.
Tomo grinned widely. "I got one!"
Pokémon Center & Eggs
Later, at a Pokémon Center, Nurse Joy checked their Pokémon and eggs.
Lyra spoke with Professor Oak, who praised her progress and growth.
Then—
Misty's egg began to glow.
They rushed outside.
Crack.
A small Pokémon emerged.
"Togepi!"
Misty's face lit up with pure joy.
Moments later—
Lyra's eggs hatched too.
Two Shiny Eevee appeared.
"Both of them?!" Lyra said, surprised.
The baby Pokémon happily nuzzled her.
Team Rocket Interruption
Naturally—
Team Rocket showed up.
"Hand over the babies!" Jessie demanded.
"Not happening," Misty shot back.
"Gloom, Solar Beam!"
Boom.
They were blasted off again.
Bulbasaur's Evolution
Later that night, Lyra grew concerned about Bulbasaur.
Nurse Joy reassured her. "It's preparing to evolve."
That night, Bulbasaur followed a group into the forest.
The group followed a glowing trail of pollen to a hidden garden filled with Bulbasaur.
Then—
A Venusaur appeared.
All the Bulbasaur began singing.
Their bulbs glowed.
One by one—they evolved into Ivysaur.
Lyra smiled warmly.
"Ivysaur… you did it."
As the night came to an end, the group prepared to leave once more.
Lyra gently hugged Ivysaur.
"Let's keep going."
And with new Pokémon, evolutions, and stronger bonds—
Their journey continued.
