The book trembled violently, as if it were struggling to break free from something unseen.
Slowly, the three of them reached out and placed their hands on the thick, ancient tome—the one that contained forbidden, long-lost magic.
"Focus your magic into your hands," Luna said firmly.
Ken and Lucy obeyed.
They concentrated, gathering the energy within their bodies and channeling it toward the book. In response, the tome suddenly radiated a blinding light, forcing them to squint.
The book opened on its own.
Its pages flipped rapidly, as if guided by an invisible force.
A powerful gust of wind burst across the vast library, knocking nearby books off their shelves. Papers scattered, and the air trembled with overwhelming mana.
Then—
The letters written within the book began to glow.
One by one, ancient symbols and spell inscriptions lifted themselves from the pages, rising into the air like fragments of light.
They floated… shimmering… alive.
Soon, the glowing letters surrounded the three of them, forming a rotating sphere of radiant knowledge.
Ken, Lucy, and Luna stood frozen in awe, their eyes reflecting the brilliance of the floating symbols.
Then suddenly—
The letters rushed forward.
They surged into Ken and Lucy's bodies through their foreheads like streams of light.
"Ken! Lucy!" Luna shouted.
But it was too late.
The two collapsed instantly, losing consciousness.
Panic filled Luna's chest as she rushed toward them.
She had no idea what those glowing letters had done to them… or what kind of effects they would suffer.
"I need to heal them…" she muttered.
She tried to look for an ancient healing spell—
But the book…
Was blank.
The once-filled pages had turned completely empty.
Then suddenly—
The book floated into the air again.
Its glow intensified, brighter than before, and its thick body began to shrink… becoming thinner, more refined—like it had transformed into something else.
The pages flipped once more.
And this time—
Words began to appear.
Letters slowly wrote themselves onto each page, as if an unseen hand was rewriting the book.
Luna's eyes widened in shock.
"What… is happening…?"
Then—
A voice echoed.
A man's voice.
And it came from the book itself.
"Good morning, milady."
Luna froze.
Her breath hitched as she stared at the floating book.
"A… talking book?" she asked, disbelief clear in her voice.
"Uh… well… not exactly just a book," the voice replied.
"I am a Grimoire."
"A Grimoire? What does that mean?" Luna asked.
"A Grimoire is what I am called," it answered.
"I contain ancient spells, along with their origins, classifications, and proper usage."
It paused briefly, then continued in a calmer tone.
"However… I have also been given a name. You may call me… Crescent."
Luna glanced at Ken and Lucy, still unconscious on the floor.
"Do you know any spell that can heal or wake them up?" she asked urgently.
"Earlier, when you were still in your original form… letters came out of you," Luna added.
"They entered their bodies."
"I see…" Crescent responded.
"Then that simply means—they are the chosen ones."
"The chosen ones?" Luna repeated.
"Yes," the Grimoire said.
"You see, I was created by someone… a woman I have never met, yet one who possessed vast knowledge of magic."
"She placed a spell within me—to release specific magic and knowledge… meant only for the two destined to inherit them."
"That means the letters that came from me were meant solely for your two companions," Crescent explained.
"Each of them received different knowledge. They are destined to inherit and use the spells that originated from her."
Luna fell silent, trying to process everything.
"I… don't understand everything yet," she admitted.
"But… how are you even able to speak?"
"As I said, I was created by someone," Crescent replied.
"She filled me with ancient magic and knowledge… and when she disappeared, I gained consciousness."
"I was given two purposes."
"First—to deliver the ancient spells and knowledge to their destined owners. In simple terms, everything written within me was meant for them."
"So basically… I am a message left behind for those two," Crescent added.
"That is why they lost consciousness—the knowledge was directly absorbed into them."
Luna listened carefully, her expression serious.
"My second purpose…" Crescent continued,
"…is to serve you."
"Serve… me?" Luna's eyes widened.
"There is no mistake," Crescent said calmly.
"You are my master, Luna."
"M-Me?! How did that even happen?" she asked, clearly shocked.
"When I was created, I was given roles to fulfill," Crescent explained.
"And one of them is to recognize and serve my master—you."
Luna remained silent, deeply thinking, trying to piece everything together.
"Whether you understand it or not… I must fulfill my duty," Crescent added.
The room grew quiet.
The glowing particles in the air slowly faded, leaving only the unconscious Ken and Lucy… and the floating Grimoire before her.
"If you need anything, Master…" Crescent said gently,
"Just call my name."
"I am Crescent."
