Originally, Ash's plan was to head straight for Saffron City. However, due to some special circumstances, they hadn't been able to make the trip yet. As for those special circumstances...
"Ash, while I really don't want to interrupt you guys... doing that kind of thing constantly probably isn't good for your body, you know." Brock patted Ash on the shoulder with a totally numb expression on his face.
Ash, who was busy concocting a new potion, replied, "Lusamine is just too passionate. I can't exactly leave those feelings unanswered. As for my body, don't worry about it. I know how to condition myself. Besides, Lusamine and the kids will be heading back to Alola soon. It's only normal that she wants to pour her heart out a bit."
"But... you guys have been at it for an entire week! Is your stamina monstrous or something?!"
"Thanks for the compliment!"
"I wasn't complimenting you!!!"
Facing Brock's roaring, Ash simply maintained his calm demeanor and continued mixing his potion. Finally, after giving it a quick taste, he handed it to an assistant standing nearby.
"Take this for clinical testing."
"Yes, sir!"
"Well then, I'm going to go spend some time with Lillie and the others now."
Watching Ash putting on his 'I'm a good father' act, Brock once again shed the bitter tears.
Truth be told, Ash hadn't just been fooling around this entire week. He had also taken Lusamine and her family out to play everywhere. For instance, when Ash heard that Lillie really liked Lusamine's Clefairy? Let's go! Pidgeot, Dragonite, destination: Mt. Moon!
Then, with Ash's help, Lillie successfully caught a Cleffa. Following that... he taught Lillie on the spot how to mix the specific type of milk that the Clefairy evolutionary line loved, leaving everyone watching completely dumbfounded. Of course, the local Clefairy also gave Lillie a Moon Stone as a friendly parting gift. Whenever it was needed, she could use it to evolve Cleffa's evolution, Clefairy, into a Clefable.
Gladion likes battling? Let's go! Back in Pallet Town, Ash's local Totem Pokémon had a whole bunch of kids to spar with. And then, Ash ended up getting his ear pulled and scolded by Delia.
"You've really grown some nerve, young man! Little Rin just arrived, and now you're pulling this? Looks like you need a serious re-education!"
But words aside, after learning about Ash and Lusamine's relationship, Delia happily accepted Lillie and Gladion as her granddaughter and grandson. Delia's gentle aura made it very easy for Gladion and Lillie to accept this incredibly young "Grandma." As for the whole past-life business between Ash and Lusamine, well, considering they already had Rin from a thousand years ago staying over, it wasn't hard for Delia to accept at all.
Furthermore, Ash's Beedrill, having undergone medicinal baths and special training at Giovanni's place, successfully rejoined the team. At this moment, its twin stingers were radiating a terrifying gleam.
"Bzz! Bzz!"
"Looks like you've mastered it. Now, Beedrill, use Vampire Fangs!"
"Bzz!"
As Beedrill swiftly flew past a large tree, it left a single scratch on the trunk. Immediately after, the entire tree withered away.
"Bzz!"
Beedrill was very pleased with the power of its own move and flew over to Ash's side. Ash patted Beedrill's head and said, "Very good. It seems you've completely grasped this move. It'll have an incredibly strong effect against our enemies when the time comes."
"Bzz!"
Giovanni, standing off to the side, watched the destructive power of Ash's Beedrill and couldn't help but clap his hands. "Very impressive. Ash, your Beedrill actually refused to show off this move until you arrived."
"Is that so? Thank you, Beedrill. Next up, you just need to practice your Ultimate Twineedle."
"Bzz!"
Looking at Ash, Giovanni suddenly spoke up. "By the way, Ash... I heard the news. Am I officially a grandfather now?"
"Yeah. It's a similar situation to Rin."
"Heh, rather interesting, isn't it? Though what I'm actually more curious about is the fact that you've been in contact with Arceus..."
"Ah. I suppose if those projected images were real, then I must have interacted with Arceus."
"I see... Arceus, huh..."
"Dad, Team Rocket is yours, right?"
Giovanni wasn't surprised by Ash suddenly asking this question. He simply answered directly, "That's right."
"And your goal?"
"Originally, I wanted to conquer the world. But now, I only want to find someone."
"Finding someone? I can't really help you with that. But if you're talking about conquering the world, I actually have another method in mind."
"...Let's hear it." Even though he had already abandoned his plans for world domination, Giovanni was quite interested in hearing Ash's ideas.
"Honestly, trying to conquer the world by force is highly unlikely. Let's not even talk about the true power of Legendary Pokémon; you simply don't have the manpower. The sheer landmass of the Pokémon world isn't a joke, right?"
"Uh-huh, I figured as much. And then?"
"We can just change our approach! For example, my Continental Hotel is a prime example. In fact, there's already one city where almost everyone is an employee of mine. I think you understand what that implies, right?"
"Oh? Interesting. Going by what you're saying, that indeed wouldn't be an issue. So, what do you think I should do right now?"
"About that. I heard there's a guy named Vicious in the Johto region... Was he also the one who organized the St. Anne hijacking? Well then, we already have our scapegoat. The next step is the issue of restructuring."
Hearing this, Giovanni chuckled and said, "You make it sound so easy. But restructuring Team Rocket is going to be incredibly troublesome."
"What if you had the help of the Continental Hotel?"
"Then it would be significantly easier."
