After all, Rin didn't want to just be a freeloader living off Ash. Growlithe was also temporarily left at home. Its growth had reached a bottleneck, and the only thing it needed to do right now was rest, relax, and learn some experience from Ash's Totem Pokémon.
Therefore, Ash's current team consisted of Pikachu and Meowth, who absolutely refused to stay in Poké Balls; Chansey, who almost never went into one; the Kanto starters: Charmeleon, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur; Kirlia; Pidgeot; Beedrill; the resident of the Heavy Ball who couldn't leave Ash's side, Dragonite; and the Tentacruel, who currently needed to replenish its nutrition since its gigantification was an accident.
"Well then, we'll be continuing our journey. I'm leaving the house in your hands, Gastly. Your strength in the shadows is more than enough to protect my mom and Rin. Gyarados, Nidoking, and the others will also be on guard. Also, someone will bring you something to absorb later. Make sure you take it in properly."
"I understand. Don't worry, I won't let anyone threaten them."

Then, Lusamine reverted to her perfect image of a loving wife and doting mother. Ash wiped away non-existent cold sweat and said, "Don't worry. A guy like me definitely values his life."

Ash then turned to Lillie and Gladion, pulling out two cards and handing them over. "A final parting gift. With these, you can command the people at the Continental Hotel to help you with anything. The same goes for the Los Pollos Hermanos Restaurant. You can even hire bounty hunters if you want."
"I can't... Papa Ash, you've already given us so much..." Holding her Cleffa, Lillie felt a bit too embarrassed to accept it.
Ash smiled and patted her head. "I still have my journey, so I can't go to Alola just yet. I can't accompany you guys right now. But when you start your own journeys, I'll definitely be there. So consider this an apology gift for not being able to be by your side."
"This..." Seeing Lillie still hesitating, Gladion spoke up. "Accept it. This is Papa Ash's goodwill, and Mother agreed to it as well."

Ash then gave his final orders to Nidoking and Nidoqueen. "Listen well, you two. Your mission is to protect Lusamine, Lillie, and Gladion. I grant you permission to use 'Toxic Touch.' Understood?"

Two powerful roars answered Ash. Lusamine, however, asked in confusion, "Toxic Touch?"
"Ah, don't forget I possess knowledge of traditional medicine. When it comes to concocting poisons, I personally believe I'm quite flawless," Ash said with a radiant smile. Yet, everyone could vividly feel the murderous intent hiding beneath that bright smile.
