Chapter 129 - Chapter 129 Lap Pillow

"It's because of these malicious bastards that my comfortable days are always turned into a mess."

Ignoring the Hunter organization members who were currently being stripped naked by the security team, Ash, highly annoyed after being shot at by A, was lying on the grass looking up at the sky. Lara, being very considerate, let Ash rest his head on her lap—a sight that drove Gardevoir absolutely crazy with jealousy.

"Gar!" (Too slow!)

Pikachu, Meowth, and Chansey could only pat Ash comfortingly. Lara, who knew the inside story, looked down at this fifteen-year-old boy with a mix of heartache and helplessness—a boy who seemed invincible and capable of solving any problem.

Misty quietly asked Meowth, "What's going on?"

Meowth glanced at Ash, pulled Misty, Suzie, Brock, and even Gabby and Ty aside, and began to explain. "This is the thing the Boss hates the most. It doesn't matter if I tell you guys. After all, we've been traveling together for a long time. And I'm telling you reporters because I hope you understand the Boss's hardships. When you report on the battle earlier, don't say too much."

"Don't worry, we still have that much journalistic integrity!" Gabby nodded in understanding.

"Sigh, the truth is, this isn't the first time the Boss has been shot at. You could even say it used to be a common occurrence..."

Everyone was shocked to hear this. They couldn't imagine someone of Ash's status encountering such things, especially since the security around him was no joke.

"Well, normal people definitely can't get close to the Boss, but what if it's relatives...?"

"No way..."

As a reporter, Gabby instantly understood what Meowth was implying. She was even more horrified that someone would target a child, let alone their own flesh and blood.

"You guys notice how the Boss and Mama Delia almost never talk about their relatives? That explains it all. After all, in the eyes of those relatives, if Ash and Mama Delia die, then according to League law, you know..."

"Wait, that's not right. If that happened, they'd be arrested too," Ty questioned.

Meowth shook his head. "Are you underestimating the Boss's wealth? Trust me, that kind of money is more than enough to buy their lives."

"..."

From Meowth's words, Misty and the others felt a bottomless malice. It was hard to imagine how Ash and Delia hadn't completely turned to the dark side under that kind of malicious pressure.

"Thankfully, the Boss had Mama Delia and Lara back then, and Mama Delia had the Boss. That's why they're okay. Otherwise, the Boss would've definitely gone off the deep end by now..."

"So, is Ash okay right now?" Misty asked, looking worriedly at Ash, who seemed to be resting on Lara's lap to recover.

Meowth waved a paw. "Oh, that? Right now, the Boss is just taking advantage of the situation. He really, really likes Lara's lap..."

"..."

The five of them immediately realized something was off. When they looked closely at Ash, they noticed that his expression as he laid on Lara's lap wasn't traumatized at all. He even wore a smug, 'all according to plan' smile!

Lara's lap is so comfortable...

Sensing Ash's thoughts, Gardevoir looked at Lara's thighs, then down at her own legs, and sat down to the side in extreme frustration.

"Gar..." (I lost...)

Lara, who saw Ash's expression clearly, just smiled helplessly and quietly looked down at her unreliable husband.

As for those so-called relatives? In Ash's world, his family didn't include those bastards who refused to help Delia. And since they had a death wish, Ash was more than happy to send them to prison with a smile.

"Ash..."

"Hm?"

"It's about time you got up. That comfortable, smug look on your face is making me want to hit you."

"No one can say anything about me resting on my own wife's lap. And doesn't my smile just mean I'm comfortable?"

Click.

Officer Jenny, who had drawn her gun the moment A attacked Ash, holstered her weapon and looked at him seriously. "I know it's a bad time to interrupt you, but it's about time to wrap things up."

Seeing that Jenny had already given him plenty of time to cop a feel, Ash could only helplessly sit up. "Alright. Security team, bring those stripped bastards over here!"

"Yes, sir!"

As A and his men were being carried away, A shot Ash a pale, ghastly smile. "Our Boss will come for you. The Boss isn't like me. You'll definitely regret crossing the Hunter Organization..."

"Oh, how incredibly loyal. Well then, goodbye A. No, farewell."

After A was hauled off, Ash turned to Arbok and asked, "How long until the slow-acting toxin mixed into your acid kicks in this time?"

"Arbak!"

Arbok traced a '10' on the ground with its tail.

"Jenny, you have 10 days. After that, A is dead for sure."

Hearing Ash's words, Jenny nodded. Ten days was more than enough time. As for A's death? When it came to dangerous terrorists like him, the Jenny family always turned a blind eye to their 'accidental' demises. After all, sometimes, you have to fight fire with fire.
