Chapter 4 - the Lemon king

It started with a scream.

"HELP!"

Princess Lillian's voice echoed through the forest as birds burst out of the treetops and scattered across the sky. Just moments earlier, everything had been peaceful. The princess had wandered into the woods with a woven basket on her arm, happily gathering fruit for the town.

She picked bright red apples, handfuls of blueberries, and even a strange glowing melon she probably should not have touched.

" these are Perfect," she said proudly, dropping the last apple into the basket. "The king will be very pleased."

Then a shadow stretched across the ground.

A strange little voice cleared its throat behind her.

"Well… well… well."

Princess Lillian slowly turned around.

Standing there was the strangest king she had ever seen.

He was tiny. Barely three feet tall. His body was skinny like a stick, and his head was perfectly round and yellow—like a giant lemon. A crooked golden crown rested on top of it.

The princess stared.

"…Are you serious you don't scare me?"

The tiny king puffed out his chest proudly.

"You are looking at the great and powerful ruler of the Bitter Kingdom!"

She tilted her head.

"You're… kinda cute."

The king froze.

His eye twitched.

"I AM NOT CUTE!" he screeched.

Birds flew out of the trees again.

Before the princess could say anything else, the Lemon King snapped his fingers. A group of strange armored guards rushed out from behind the bushes.

"I think you well be my princess."

Princess worried "what!?"

"Take her!" the king ordered dramatically.

"you can't just snatched any princess you like that's Kidnapping!."

The guards scooped up the princess and carried her away while she kicked and shouted.

"Someone will come looking for me!."

"Oh we will see about that. Come princess youll become a queen when we get married" the Lemon King said proudly as they marched toward a crooked castle far beyond the forest.

Princess had a scared face expression now. "Married!."

Later that afternoon, back in the town square…

The king slammed both hands onto the table in the council hall.

"The princess is missing?!"

The guards standing in front of him looked extremely uncomfortable.

"Yes, sir."

"And none of you saw anything?"

"Well… not exactly."

"What does that mean? You were supposed to be by her side."

The guards exchanged awkward glances.

"We were… busy."

"Busy doing WHAT?" the king demanded.

"…Guard things."

The king rubbed his temples.

"She went to the forest to gather fruit this morning. She should have been back hours ago."

The room fell silent.

"Someone has to find her," the king finally said.

All the guards looked down at the floor.

Except one.

"Well… sir… there is someone who could help."

King replied "who?"

On the edge of town stood a small crooked cottage surrounded by strange glowing plants.

Inside the cottage, the wizard carefully poured a sparkling blue liquid into a bubbling potion.

The potion fizzed loudly.

Standing on the table beside him was a black cat with sharp green eyes.

Whiskers.

The cat stared at the potion with deep suspicion.

"Meow"

"Yes, yes, I know," the wizard muttered. "A pinch of dragon salt. I've done this before."

He tossed in the ingredient.

The potion immediately exploded.

Blue smoke filled the entire room.

The wizard coughed as soot covered his beard.

Whiskers calmly licked his paw.

"You're very judgmental for someone who doesn't do the cooking," the wizard said.

Suddenly—

Knock knock.

The wizard opened the door and immediately took a step back when he saw several guards standing outside.

"Oh dear," he said nervously. "Am I in trouble again?"

"No! No, not at all," one guard said quickly.

"That's usually what people say right before I'm in trouble."

"The princess is missing," another guard explained.

The wizard blinked.

"Oh."

"That's… worse."

"We were supposed to protect her," the guard admitted. "But we failed. The king believes only someone brave—and skilled with magic—can find her."

The wizard stroked his beard thoughtfully.

Then he looked down at Whiskers.

"Well, partner what you say whiskers? We go save a princess."

Whiskers flicked his tail and gave a confident little meow.

The wizard smiled.

"Very well," he said, grabbing his staff. "Adventure it is."

The wizard, Whiskers, and the guards walked through the forest until they reached the edge of a dark valley.

In the distance stood a crooked black castle with tall twisting towers.

The guards immediately stopped walking.

"Okay," one of them said nervously. "We're not going any farther."

The wizard looked back at them.

"What? Why?"

"That castle belongs to the Lemon King."

"The Lemon King?" the wizard repeated.

"Yes. He's… a bit obsessed with princesses."

Another guard leaned closer.

"And honestly… he scares the absolute life out of us."

The wizard looked at the castle.

Then he shrugged.

"Well then," he said calmly, adjusting his robe.

"Good thing you brought professionals."

He walked toward the castle doors.

Whiskers trotted beside him.

The guards waved nervously from a very safe distance.

Inside the castle throne room, the Lemon King sat proudly on his throne.

The princess was tied to a chair nearby.

"You'll never get away with this!" she shouted.

"Oh, I absolutely will," the king replied confidently.

"You kidnapped me while I was picking fruit!"

"It was the perfect opportunity!"

"You're like three feet tall!"

"I AM A TERRIFYING RULER!"

"Now calm down our wedding is in 3 days."

Suddenly—

The castle doors burst open.

The wizard walked inside calmly, his robe fluttering behind him.

"Excuse me," he said politely.

"I believe you have something that belongs to the town."

The Lemon King gasped.

"A wizard?!"

He squinted at him suspiciously.

"…You're not here to call me cute, are you?"

The wizard studied him carefully.

"Well—"

"DON'T SAY IT!"

---

The battle began instantly.

The Lemon King hurled a glowing spell across the room.

The wizard blocked it with a wave of his staff.

Lightning bounced off the walls.

Furniture started flying through the air.

One guard accidentally knocked himself out with a chair.

Meanwhile, Whiskers launched himself into battle like a furry ninja, jumping onto the guards' helmets and scratching their faces.

"Meow!"

Within minutes, the throne room looked like a tornado had passed through it.

The Lemon King lay flat on the floor.

Defeated.

The wizard dusted off his robe.

"Well, thats that then." he said casually.

He walked over and untied the princess.

"Thank you!" she said gratefully. "I thought I was stuck with that lemon forever. He was going to make me be his queen by forcing me to marry him."

"No problem, don't worry no one here getting married today." the wizard replied. "Rescuing people is kind of our thing."

Whiskers meowed proudly.

As they walked toward the door, the Lemon King slowly sat up.

His eyes narrowed.

"This isn't over, wizard…"

The wizard paused at the doorway and glanced back with a grin.

"Oh, I know," he said.

"Villains like you always come back with a worse plan."

The Lemon King crossed his arms.

"I WILL!"

The wizard shrugged.

"Looking forward to it."

And with that, the wizard, the princess, and Whiskers walked out of the castle and headed back toward town.

Behind them, the Lemon King shook his fist dramatically.

"Next time… I'll kidnap TWO princesses!"

One of his guards raised a hand.

"…Sir, there's only one princess. We havent discovered any other kindoms beside you and the townsfolks town."

The Lemon King paused.

" fine.... I'll try My best to kidnap her twice!!!."

When they entered back into town they headed towards the small kingdom. The king outside just standing there runs towards the princess and hugs her.

"Are you OK did anyone hurt you!?" The king said asking his princess. The king was worried sick.

"I'm fine. Thanks to this wizard and his cat. I'm saved." The queen Said.

The wizard and whiskers were happy the princess was back safe in the town but had to get back home.

"Waite wizard what can I do to repay you.?"

"Not needed I'm just here to help when the town needs me." The Wizard said.

The wizard heads home and everything was back to normal well, tell another problem awaites.....
