Chapter 22 - Episode 22: The Darkness Chose Her

The moment Aanya stepped into Arjun's arms—

The entire shadow world shook.

A deep crimson light burst around them.

The broken pieces of darkness on the floor started rising again like smoke.

Alive.

Watching.

Waiting.

Arjun held her tightly.

Too tightly.

As if the world itself was trying to snatch her away.

"I told you…" he whispered near her ear,

"you belong with me."

Aanya's breath trembled.

His words felt warm.

Dangerous.

Possessive.

And yet—

A part of her didn't want to move away.

Suddenly—

A sharp pain rushed through her chest.

She gasped and clutched Arjun's shirt.

"Arjun…"

He instantly looked down at her.

"What happened?"

Before she could answer—

Her shadow rose from beneath her feet.

Fast.

Violently.

It wrapped around both of them.

Arjun's eyes narrowed.

"No…"

Aanya's body trembled.

Her vision blurred.

Then—

Memories flooded back.

Not just hers.

Something older.

Something darker.

A crimson moon.

A ruined mansion.

A girl standing near a broken window.

Long dark hair.

A white dress stained with red.

Aanya's breath stopped.

The girl slowly turned.

And it was her.

But not her.

Older.

Darker.

Smiling.

She whispered—

"You finally came back."

Aanya jerked back into reality.

"No…" she whispered.

Arjun caught her face gently.

"Aanya, look at me."

Her eyes met his.

And he froze.

Her irises had changed.

A faint crimson glow flickered inside them.

For a moment—

He just stared.

Then his expression softened.

Darkly fascinated.

"It's awakening…" he murmured.

Aanya's voice shook.

"What's happening to me?"

Before Arjun could answer—

A deep laugh echoed through the darkness.

The villain shadow.

The watcher.

It finally stepped out from the mist.

This time—

Its shape was almost human.

Tall.

Sharp.

Elegant.

Like a king made of shadows.

Aanya's heart pounded.

"You chose him," it said.

Its voice was smooth.

Cold.

Almost mocking.

Arjun stepped in front of her instantly.

Protective.

Possessive.

"Stay away from her."

The villain smiled faintly.

"You still think this is about her?"

Silence.

Arjun's jaw tightened.

"It's about both of you."

The shadow lifted its hand.

And the entire space darkened.

"You two were never meant to meet."

Aanya's breath hitched.

"What do you mean?"

The villain looked directly at her.

"You are the heart of the shadow world."

A pause.

"And he…"

Its gaze shifted to Arjun.

"…is the one destined to destroy it."

Everything went silent.

Aanya looked at Arjun in shock.

Arjun's expression darkened.

The villain took another step closer.

"The moment your bond completes…"

A pause.

"One of you will cease to exist."

Aanya felt her heartbeat stop.

"No…"

Arjun turned toward her.

His face unreadable.

But his hand slowly reached for hers.

Holding it.

Firm.

Possessive.

"That won't happen," he said.

The villain laughed.

"You can't stop destiny."

Aanya's eyes filled with tears.

"Arjun… is it true?"

He stayed silent.

Just for a moment.

Then—

He stepped closer.

So close their foreheads almost touched.

"If destiny wants to take you from me…"

His voice dropped.

Low.

Dark.

"Then I'll destroy destiny itself."

The air trembled violently.

The villain's smile faded.

Because Aanya's shadow had started rising again.

This time—

Stronger than before.

It moved beside Arjun's.

Two shadows.

Standing together.

The villain finally looked serious.

"So it begins."

Aanya's crimson eyes glowed brighter.

And for the first time—

She felt power.

Raw.

Dangerous.

Beautiful.

"Because now they weren't just lovers trapped in darkness—they were the two forces destined to either save the world… or destroy it together."
