Chapter 6 - Filling the Monster Zones

"Duel!" We say at the same time, as our Duel Disks open.

[Duel Start!]

[Lukas Edison VS Yoshiro Yuta]

Both of us take 5 cards from our deck. My hand is not that good, but it's good enough. I can make it work. I try to look at Lukas to read his expression, apparently he's got a good hand since he's smiling widel-

"Ngh!"

"Are you okay?"

I shield my right eye with my hand again, leaning forward towards the ground. My head hurts like hell, as if I had been reading for hours straight without a single pause. I wave at Lukas dismissively, and I slowly stand up again. 

As soon as I do, and look at him again, I almost lose my footing. It's as if a sudden dizziness hit me. Which is immediately followed by a weird feeling, it's as if I 'remembered' every card from Lukas' Deck. 

However, I don't understand how that's possible. I've never dueled him or seen him duel before. Is this the power of the golden eye? I try to focus on his deck mentally. It's hard to explain it, but it's as if by trying to remember something about his deck, I can.

I test my theory by trying to remember what his first two monsters are. Immediately, I 'remember': two copies of 'Batteryman 9-Volt' and one copy of 'Batteryman AA'. 

My head hurts every time I try to remember his deck, so I decide to stop trying for now. I probably can't abuse this power.

I notice he seems confused and kind of worried, so I reassure him I'm okay.

"Okay. Don't you think I'll go easy on ya just because you seem to have a headache!"

"Don't you dare hold back!"

"This is the main Combo of my deck. Consider yourself lucky, since I have all the necessary pieces to show it to you right away!"

I don't think being crushed can be considered being lucky...

"I activate my Spell Card 'Time Tearing Morganite'. I can now Normal Summon twice per turn and draw 2 cards on my Draw Phase!"

Okay, wow. Well, at least his field won't have monsters as strong as The Emperor's. I guess I can at least expect everyone to be worse than him, and every Duel to be better than that one.

"I will pay 500 Lifepoints to activate my Spell Card 'Battery Charger', which allows me to Special Summon 'Batteryman AA' from my Graveyard!"

He really almost filled the whole field. Holy. At least he's only got a monster with 1000 ATK, another with 1500 ATK, 1800 ATK, and 0 ATK.

Well, I don't know if that last part Lukas said is actually why they become stronger.

I grab the card from my Duel Disk, a draw. I hope whatever card I got actually gives me a chance. Okay, 'Toon Mermaid'. There has to be a way for me to play fast enough so as not to fall behind him.

I look at my hand, 'Toon Briefcase', 'Toon Gemini Elf', 'Mimicat', 'Toon Bookmark', 'Toon Cannon Soldier', and 'Toon Mermaid.' I will have to bring out my strongest card right now. 

"Thank you, Lukas. You've given me the key to matching your speed!"

"What do you mean by that?"

"Don't worry, you'll see!"

I grab my first card and play it.

"I activate 'Toon Bookmark', searching and adding 'Toon World' to my Hand!"

"Interesting, I've never heard about that Archetype."

"I will pay 1000 Lifepoints to activate 'Toon World'."

"Heh, open your eyes! Since 'Toon World' is in my field, I can Special Summon 'Toon Mermaid' from my Hand!"

"So it just allows your Toon monsters to activate special effects?"

"Somewhat"

He doesn't seem satisfied with my answer. If he wants more information, he'll have to ask for it directly.

"Here comes my ace monster!"

"Your ace, really?" The Card Spirit speaks. I smile, that's all I can do. If I replied, Lukas would think I'm insane.

"I enter the Battle Phase!"

[Battle Phase]

"I attack your 'Batteryman Solar' with 'One-Eyed Skill Gainer', cut through that battery!" I think I heard the spirit sigh. Surely it's my imagination.

He cuts through the battery using his two light swords. A shockwave expands and hits Lukas. Due to the Batteryman monster dying, 'Batteryman AA' goes down to 1000 ATK, and 'Batteryman Charger' to 2700 ATK.

His monster is still stronger than my 'One-Eyed Skill Gainer,' but I'm confident I'll be able to survive through the next turn and turn it around.

"I enter the Main Phase 2, there's one more thing I gotta do."
