Monday—the day Aurelia submitted her applications to both law firms: The Montclair Group and Blackwood JLE Law Firm.
"I hope my application gets approved," Aurelia muttered as she uploaded her resume to their respective emails.
Two days later, on Wednesday, Aurelia was having breakfast when she received a call from an unknown number.
"Hello?" she answered. "Who's this?"
"Hello, I am Mr. Martinez from Blackwood JLE Law Firm. Am I speaking with Aurelia Vale?"
The moment she heard the name of the firm, Aurelia quickly stood up from her chair and began pacing across the room.
"Yes! Yes, this is Aurelia Vale speaking."
"Yes, Miss Vale," Mr. Martinez continued. "I am calling to inform you that our boss and senior attorney, Miss Margot Hernandez, was impressed by your resume and would like to invite you for an interview."
The words impressed and interview made Aurelia's heart race. She felt like she was floating with excitement, but she forced herself to sound calm.
"Thank you for the news, Mr. Martinez. I'm honored that my resume caught your firm's attention. May I ask when the interview will be and what the process will look like?"
"Certainly," Mr. Martinez replied. "The interview will take place on Friday, and there will be two rounds. The first round will be conducted by Attorney Mr. Anderson. If you pass that round, the second interview will be conducted by Miss Margot Hernandez herself."
"Okay, thank you for the information."
She tried her best to keep her voice steady, though she was practically dancing inside.
"The rest of the details will be sent to your email. All the very best, Miss Vale."
"Thank you once again."
The call ended—but her happiness didn't.
Aurelia began humming and dancing around her apartment while finishing her breakfast.
Three hours later, she was lying on the couch watching a video titled "How to Be Presentable in an Interview" when her phone rang again.
"Hello?" she answered politely.
"Hello, is this Miss Vale speaking?"
"Yes, it is."
"Hello, Miss Vale. I am Miss Perez from The Montclair Group, and we would like to invite you for the first round of our interview."
Aurelia froze for a second.
"Oh—okay! Thank you for your consideration. May I know the day and time for the interview?"
"Certainly. We will send the exact details to your email by this evening."
"Thank you, Miss Perez. Is there anything else I should know?"
"Yes. I would like to inform you that there will be three rounds of interviews. The first round will be conducted by me and my colleagues. If you pass, then from the second round onward, Mr. Vincent Montclair—the head of the group—will personally conduct the interviews."
"Oh, I see. Thank you for your patience and guidance."
As soon as she hung up the phone, Aurelia stood there in disbelief.
Her resume had been accepted by both firms.
"Did I just get approved by the top two law firms?"
She even pinched her arm to make sure she wasn't dreaming.
But this was real.
"YEAH!"
In the end, although she had received interview invitations from both firms, the real challenge still remained.
