The rainbow glow vanished, and I found myself on a beach. Behind me was the sea; in front, a cliff with ancient ruins and a hand-carved staircase leading upward. No immediate threats, so I flipped my faceplate up.
[ Game System Integration in Progress... ]
A loading icon spun in my vision. Apparently, I hadn't just entered a "game world," but a "GAME WORLD" (all caps). The System was merging with the local "Survival Mechanics" to prevent errors. It demanded I pick up the Pal-deck—a metallic PDA lying on the sand.
I picked it up. The screen flickered to life with cryptic messages about "Towers" and "Trees of Truth." Then, the quest log exploded.
Palpagos Archipelago Quest Log
[ I Will Survive ]: Stay for 168 hours. Reward: 500 XP. Failure: Death. (Wait, only 500? Is this world easier than AvP?)
[ PAL Master ]: Capture your first Pals. Reward: 125 XP, Gacha Ticket.
[ Pack Leader ]: Capture an "Alpha Pal." Reward: 500 XP, Gacha Ticket.
[ Towers to the Heavens ]: Defeat a Faction Leader. Reward: 1000 XP. Failure: Slavery/Death. (Slavery? Excuse me?)
[ Gotta Catch 'Em All ]: Capture 10 of every species. Reward: 5000 XP.
[ Alpha & Omega ]: Collect every Alpha Pal species. Reward: 25,000 XP. (Okay, now I'm listening. That's a lot of XP.)
[ Tech Peak ]: Reach Level 50 and unlock all Ancient Technologies. Reward: 1000 XP.
[ Survival Master! ]: Complete all previous quests. Reward: Permanent Crafting Mechanic Ability.
"Holy shit!" The reward for finishing everything is keeping the crafting system? I need that. But 168 hours isn't much time for 136 species.
I looked around. In the distance, I saw a pink humanoid cat doing calisthenics, two "fluff-clouds" with golden horns (sheep), and a giant chicken on the stairs.
I stripped off the armor—it's overkill for sheep—and opened the Gacha. If I'm going to survive, I need a head start.
Gacha Multi-Roll: Palpagos Special
Pal-Sphere.A blue stone ball in a gold frame. Essential.
Krotovuha.Wait... is that a literal dead mole inside a jar of moonshine? Who drinks this?!
Large Ice Pal Egg.Blue-grey with snowflake patterns.
Huge Grass Pal Egg.Green with wave patterns. Massive.
Prinz Eugen (Kantai Collection). The German heavy cruiser ship-girl. Iconic and very... short-skirted.
Leezpunk Ignis (Palworld).A purple lizard in a red hoodie doing a Megumin chuunibyou pose. Amazing.
N7 Armor (Mass Effect). The legendary Commander Shepard gear. Gray-black with the red stripe. YES.
Flambelle (Palworld).A small magma-doll. She gets stronger when she cries because her tears are lava. Metal.
Luna Inverse (Slayers).Lina's terrifying older sister. Her eyes are hidden by her bangs.
Enhancement Card.Always welcome.
I checked the eggs. To hatch them, I need an "Incubator"—Ancient Tech. The Leezpunk Ignis literally copies Megumin's poses and uses fire explosions.
"I'll save the Enhancement Card for later," I decided. Time to explore.
[ Skill: Intuition increased. ]
The beach felt wrong for a base. I headed up the stairs, passing the pink cat (a Cattiva) who ran away with a hilarious "anime-scared" face.
I found a nest at the top of some ruins with a Large Dark Egg.
I decided to test my new Flicker Steps skill. I lunged toward the ledge. I expected to teleport, but instead, I just "flew" about three meters forward in a high-speed burst.
"Not exactly Shunpo yet, but it works."
At the top of the cliff, the view was breathtaking. A red-black volcano to the left, a snowy mountain to the right, and a massive black tower in the distance.
I saw an orange-glowing statue of a bird and a purple-haired woman sitting by a campfire in post-apocalyptic armor.
I approached her, hand near my Rabbit Talisman. She leveled a gun at me instantly.
"Hi," I said.
"You... aren't from here, are you?" she asked, lowering the gun. "Castaway? You aren't the first. Welcome to hell. This is the Palpagos Archipelago."
After talking to the "Castaway," I touched the Teleport Monument. It turned from orange to blue.
[ Tech Point Obtained! ]
I checked my Pal-deck. Five entries were filled in gray: Cattiva, Lamball, Chikipi, Cremis, and Dinossom. I still haven't caught any.
The survivor gave me "10 Wood" (two logs, basically) and told me to stay alert. I headed toward the "Autumn Forest."
Two hours later, I found the perfect spot: a wide plateau near a waterfall and a wooden bridge.
"This is it. Base camp."
I needed to build a Primitive Workbench. The Pal-deck said it required 2 wood.
I visualized the workbench. A blue hologram appeared in front of me. I locked it in place.
Now for the "Game Logic" part. I stood in front of the blue ghost and started miming hammer swings.
The hologram turned orange, and five seconds later, a physical workbench materialized out of thin air from two pieces of wood.
"This is ridiculous. What's next? Do I punch trees to get more wood?"
I looked at a nearby tree. Then my fist. Then the tree.
"No. I'm not that far gone. I'll make a stone axe... as soon as I find a rock."
