Chapter 17 - The Man Who Never Asked

Some men fight for a woman. Some men beg. Some men wait and then…

There are men like Adrian Wolfe.

He never asked. He took.

The night after Sara's decision didn't end in peace.

It ended in silence.

A dangerous silence.

Because none of them accepted it.

Not truly.

Victor left first.

Without a word.

But his eyes promised something darker.

Leonardo followed, slower.

Smiling again…

But this time, it wasn't playful. Daniel stayed the longest. Watching Sara like she was a problem to solve.

And Alexander…

He said nothing. But the way he looked at her before leaving…

Felt like a warning or maybe…

A goodbye he didn't want to say.

Sara returned to the villa alone.

For the first time since she arrived…

She felt it.

Not excitement. Not power.

But something colder.

Consequences. She walked through the silent halls. Her heels echoing softly.

Everything looked the same.

But nothing felt the same.

Her phone buzzed.

Unknown number.

She hesitated.

Then answered: "…Hello?"

Silence. Then

A voice.

Low. Calm. Familiar.

"You finally said it."

Sara froze.

Adrian: "I didn't expect you to choose them," he continued.

A pause.

"But I didn't expect you to reject all of them either."

Sara swallowed slowly: "Were you watching?"

A soft chuckle.

"I'm always watching."

Her grip on the phone tightened.

"Then you already know my answer."

Another pause. Longer this time. He was thinking.

Calculating.

"No," Adrian said quietly.

"I only heard it."

Sara frowned slightly: "What does that mean?" His voice dropped.

"It means I don't believe you."

A chill ran through her spine.

"You don't reject power like that," he continued.

"Not unless…"

He stopped.

Sara's voice lowered.

"Unless what?"

And then he said it.

"Unless you're planning something bigger."

Silence filled the space between them.

Because he wasn't guessing.

He was reading her.

Sara closed her eyes for a second.

Then opened them again.

"You think too much."

A faint laugh.

"No."

A pause.

"I understand too much."

Before she could respond—

The call ended.

Sara lowered the phone slowly.

Her heart…

Wasn't racing.

But her mind was.

He knew.

Not everything.

But enough.

And that made him dangerous.

The next morning…

Everything changed.

News spread quietly.

But fast.

Like poison.

A business deal collapsed overnight.

Victor's.

A partnership Daniel had been building for months…

Suddenly disappeared.

Leonardo's name appeared in a scandal.

And Alexander…

His company was under investigation.

All at once.

All connected.

Sara stood in the living room, reading the headlines on her phone.

Her expression didn't change.

But inside…

Something clicked.

"This isn't a coincidence…"

And there was only one person capable of doing something like this.

Adrian Wolfe.

By evening…

They all came back.

Not together.

But one by one.

Victor arrived first.

No smile.

No charm.

Just anger.

"Did you know about this?" he asked immediately.

Sara looked at him calmly.

"No."

He stepped closer.

"You expect me to believe that?"

She didn't move.

"I don't expect anything from you."

That only made him angrier.

Before he could respond—

Daniel entered.

His expression colder than ever.

"This isn't random," he said.

Leonardo followed right after.

Clapping slowly.

"Well… someone just declared war."

And then—

The last one.

Alexander.

He didn't speak.

But his presence alone changed the room.

Four men.

Again.

But this time…

They weren't fighting each other.

They were thinking about the same person.

Sara broke the silence.

"Adrian."

No one disagreed.

Victor scoffed.

"That bastard…"

Daniel's voice was sharp.

"He moved too fast."

Leonardo smirked faintly.

"Or maybe we were too slow."

Alexander finally spoke.

"This is just the beginning."

Sara felt it again.

That shift.

The game had changed.

This wasn't about her anymore.

This was bigger.

Darker.

More dangerous.

And yet…

Deep inside…

She knew.

It was still about her.

Because Adrian didn't attack them randomly.

He attacked them…

After her decision.

That night…

Sara stood alone again.

But not at the window.

Outside.

In the garden.

The air was colder.

The silence heavier.

"You like dramatic moves."

She didn't turn.

She already knew.

Adrian stepped into the light.

Black suit.

Perfect as always.

Eyes locked on her.

"You forced my hand," he said calmly.

Sara crossed her arms slightly.

"I didn't ask you to do anything."

He stepped closer.

"You didn't have to."

A few steps between them now.

Nothing more.

"You rejected them," he continued.

Sara held his gaze.

"Yes."

A small pause.

"But you didn't reject me."

Her heartbeat…

Paused.

Just for a second.

"I never gave you an answer," she said.

Adrian smiled faintly.

"Exactly."

Silence.

Tension.

Something unspoken.

"You think destroying them will make me choose you?" Sara asked.

His expression didn't change.

"No."

A step closer.

"Choosing me was never the question."

Sara's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Then what is?"

He stopped right in front of her.

Close enough.

Too close.

His voice dropped to a whisper.

"How long you can resist me."

The world seemed to disappear for a moment.

Because this wasn't a game anymore.

This was something else.

Something deeper.

More dangerous.

Sara didn't step back.

Didn't break eye contact.

Instead—

She smiled.

A slow…

Dangerous smile.

"Then you're going to be disappointed."

A pause.

"I don't resist," she said softly.

Adrian's eyes darkened.

"I decide."

And for the first time…

Adrian Wolfe didn't move.

Because he realized something.

She wasn't running.

She wasn't afraid.

She was stepping into his world.

Willingly.🔥
