Chapter 16 - The Night She Became Untouchable

There are moments in life that divide everything into before… and after.

For Sara…

This was one of them.

The morning after her decision felt strangely calm. Too calm. No tension in the mansion. No confrontation. No waiting eyes.

As if the storm had paused…

Right before hitting harder.

Sara stood by the window again, but this time she wasn't lost in thought. She was focused. Because now, she understood something clearly:

They were watching her.

All of them. Not openly. Not directly. But in their own ways.

Victor would wait for her reaction. Daniel would analyze her next move. Leonardo would test her. Alexander would try to protect her.

And Adrian… He would shape the outcome.

Sara exhaled slowly: "Then let's see who really understands me…"

Later that evening, something unexpected happened.

An invitation arrived.

But not from Adrian. Not from Victor. Not from Daniel. Not from Leonardo.

It was from Alexander.

A single message. Simple. Direct. Dinner. Tonight. Just us.

Sara stared at the message longer than she expected.

Alexander had been the quietest among them.

The only one who didn't push. Didn't demand. Didn't play. But that didn't make him harmless.

Sometimes…

Silence hides the most dangerous intentions. The location was already arranged. Of course it was.

A private rooftop restaurant. Hidden above the city.

When Sara arrived, the place was empty. Completely reserved, for her and him.

Alexander stood near the edge, looking at the city below, hands in his pockets, calm, still. He didn't turn immediately when she approached: "You came," he said quietly.

Sara stopped a few steps away: "You invited me."

A slight pause.

"That doesn't mean you had to accept."

Sara looked at him: "I wanted to understand you."

That made him turn.

Finally. His eyes met hers and for the first time…

There was no distance in them. Only honesty. "Then you chose the right night," he said.

Dinner was simple. No extravagance. No display of power.

Just two people.

Talking.

Or at least…

Trying to.

"You're different with me," Sara said at one point.

Alexander didn't deny it.

"I don't need to prove anything."

Sara tilted her head slightly.

"Or maybe you think you already have me."

A faint shadow crossed his expression.

"No," he said.

A pause.

"I just don't want to lose you the wrong way."

That answer

Was not what she expected.

Not possession.

Not control.

Fear.

But not of losing her to another man.

Of losing her to something worse.

"Adrian," Sara said quietly.

Alexander didn't react immediately.

Then—

He nodded.

"Yes."

Sara leaned slightly forward.

"What is he?"

Alexander's jaw tightened slightly.

"Someone you shouldn't get close to."

Sara didn't look away.

"That's not an answer."

Alexander exhaled slowly.

"He doesn't play the same game."

Sara smirked faintly.

"I noticed."

Alexander's voice dropped.

"He destroys the game."

Silence.

The city lights below flickered like distant stars.

But up here…

Everything felt closer.

More real.

"And you?" Sara asked.

Alexander met her gaze again.

"I try to protect what's left of it."

Sara studied him carefully.

"Or control it?"

A small pause.

Then—

"Maybe both."

That honesty…

Was dangerous in its own way.

Before Sara could respond—

A sudden movement behind them.

Steps.

Fast.

Victor.

He walked in without hesitation.

Followed by Leonardo.

And then…

Daniel.

Sara stood up slowly.

Of course.

This wasn't going to stay private.

Victor looked at Alexander.

"Dinner?" he said, almost amused.

Leonardo smiled.

"You should've invited us."

Daniel remained silent.

But his eyes were already on Sara.

Alexander didn't move.

"You weren't supposed to be here."

Victor smirked.

"And yet… we are."

The atmosphere changed instantly.

From calm…

To something sharper.

Sara looked at all of them.

Then back at Alexander.

"So this was your move?"

Alexander's expression hardened.

"No."

But the timing…

Said otherwise.

Victor stepped closer.

"You said you wanted to choose."

Sara's heart slowed.

"Yes."

Victor's eyes locked onto hers.

"Then choose."

The word hit harder this time.

Leonardo added softly:

"Right now."

Daniel didn't speak.

But his silence pushed the moment forward.

Alexander stood still.

Waiting.

Not forcing.

Four men.

One decision.

Sara looked at them.

Victor.

Intensity.

Daniel.

Control.

Leonardo.

Dangerous charm.

Alexander.

Something real.

And somewhere in the back of her mind…

Adrian.

Watching.

Even when he wasn't there.

Sara took a step forward.

The air felt heavier.

The moment…

Irreversible.

"You want a choice?" she said.

Her voice calm.

Steady.

They all listened.

"Then here it is."

She turned.

Not toward Victor. Not toward Daniel. Not toward Leonardo. She stepped closer to Alexander and then she stopped.

Right in front of him.

Close enough to feel his breath.

But she didn't touch him.

Instead…

She looked at all of them.

And said: "I choose… none of you."

Silence.

Absolute.

Victor's expression darkened instantly.

Leonardo's smile disappeared.

Daniel's eyes sharpened.

Alexander…

Didn't move.

Sara took a step back: "I'm not a prize."

Another step: "I'm not something you win."

Her voice rose slightly: "And I'm not choosing under pressure."

The tension cracked but not violently.

Dangerously.

Victor stepped forward—

Sara raised her hand.

And this time…

He stopped.

"From now on," she said quietly…

"I decide the rules."

And for the first time…

None of them argued.

Because they saw it.

Clearly.

She wasn't in the game anymore.

She was becoming the game. 🔥
