Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Not Even Thirty Thousand in Pocket Money

Bai Shuqin and Guan Ruirui were escorted out before they could even step into the Jiang Family foyer. The incident passed without disturbing the rest of the family inside the villa.

Meanwhile, Jiang Su, having lost face earlier, pulled Lu Xuexi out of the villa. As they walked along the garden path, he didn't forget to console her.

"Sister Xuexi, don't be sad. Brother Huai is just being biased. You even gave up your Doll Room, yet he still said those things. So what if she was just found? It's nothing special."

Lu Xuexi sighed softly. "Su, I know you mean well, but don't say that again. I'm not actually a daughter of the Jiang Family. Everything I have should have belonged to Xuxu. Brother Huai wasn't wrong..."

"What kind of talk is that? In my heart, Sister Xuexi is my only sister. I'll never acknowledge that Guan Xuxu!"

As they walked and talked, they suddenly heard Xuxu's voice from up ahead.

"This nanny is tainted by some karma. If left alone, it might affect the house's Feng Shui. If Dad is willing to pay for my services, I can help resolve it. It will only cost thirty thousand yuan."

The two of them turned to look and saw Xuxu facing Nanny Wu. As she spoke, she seriously held up three fingers toward the woman.

Xuxu had stopped Nanny Wu specifically because of the Yin Sha on her person. Now that the unimportant people had been dealt with, it was time to handle proper business.

Although she had returned to the Jiang Family, Xuxu was not in the habit of asking for handouts. This was perfect; she could clear the Yin Sha and earn her university tuition in one go. Even between father and daughter, accounts should be settled clearly.

Nearby, Jiang Yucheng and Jiang Huai were clearly caught off guard by her sudden change in tone.

After all, Metaphysics didn't seem to fit Xuxu's image. The two of them assumed the girl was simply short on cash and was using the occult as an excuse to ask for pocket money.

They felt a sudden pang of heartache. Since when did a child of the Jiang Family ever lack thirty thousand yuan for pocket money?

Jiang Huai pulled out his phone, ready to transfer the funds. "Is thirty thousand enough? I'll send you a hundred thousand. Just ask if you need more."

Jiang Yucheng, seeing his son beat him to it, pulled out his own phone with a dark expression. He intended to send three hundred thousand it had to be more than what his son gave.

However, as he took out the phone, he realized he didn't have his daughter's contact information yet.

Xuxu could tell by their words that they were misunderstanding her. "I'm being serious."

"We know, we know," Jiang Huai said with an indulgent smile. Nanny Wu also recovered from her initial shock and played along. "If the Eldest Miss says I have karmic issues, then I'll trouble you to help me resolve them."

Xuxu: ...

Could these adults please show some respect for my profession?

Despite her frustration, this wasn't the first time Xuxu had encountered such a situation. She was about to speak when a sneer came from the side.

"To think you'd use such a clumsy scam for a mere thirty thousand yuan. How embarrassing."

It was simply beneath contempt.

Jiang Su really couldn't help himself. Even though he had just been scolded, he couldn't stand someone like Xuxu.

Lu Xuexi hurried over, grabbing Su's arm with an apologetic look. "Sister Xuxu, Su didn't mean it like that. Please don't blame him."

Xuxu's gaze swept over them indifferently before returning to Nanny Wu.

"The Marriage Line in your Life Palace is broken, suggesting you were widowed young. You have a son, and from your face, I can deduce he is currently facing a calamity one related to money."

Xuxu wasn't an expert in face reading, so she could only provide a basic assessment. But even the basics were enough to make Nanny Wu freeze.

When she heard the mention of a money-related calamity, a flash of panic crossed her eyes.

Xuxu continued, "Normally, your personal karma shouldn't affect the masters of the house, but I see a tiny connection between your fortune and the Jiang Family... You've stolen the Jiang Family's Aura of Wealth."

Xuxu spoke the last sentence with absolute certainty.

Nanny Wu's body trembled violently. No, she must be talking nonsense. How could she possibly know what I did?

Jiang Yucheng and Jiang Huai had been listening as if it were a joke, but seeing her serious tone and hearing her final accusation, their expressions gradually turned solemn.

Lu Xuexi watched Nanny Wu's reaction with a look of surprise. "You... you mean Nanny Wu stole the family's money?"

She seemed incredulous, quickly offering an explanation for the woman. "That can't be right. There must be a misunderstanding. Nanny Wu has worked for the Jiang Family for nearly ten years. How could she do such a thing?"

Nanny Wu, who had been panicking, immediately adopted an aggrieved look upon hearing Xuexi's words. "Eldest Miss, you can't just say things like that," she said miserably. "How could I steal from the Jiangs? Everyone in this house knows me. I I'm not that kind of person."

She looked toward Jiang Su. "Young Master, please believe me. I would never do such a thing, I..."

As she spoke, she covered her face as if she were about to burst into tears.

Jiang Su was still a teenager, and having been cared for by Nanny Wu since he was a child, he was incensed by her "wronged" state. He immediately glared at Xuxu.

"What is wrong with you? How could Nanny Wu steal from us? You just got here today! What could you possibly know? Hurling baseless accusations to scam my uncle out of a few thousand yuan... Is it really worth it?!"

In Su's eyes, Xuxu was just a stranger he had met today, while Nanny Wu was a ten-year veteran of the household. In terms of closeness, he naturally sided with the nanny. He liked this so-called cousin even less now.

Lu Xuexi chimed in, "There must be a misunderstanding. Did Nanny Wu do something to upset you?"

Her words subtly implied that Xuxu was abusing her status to settle a private grudge.

Nanny Wu took the hint and immediately began wailing.

"Eldest Miss, I know you're angry because Mrs. Guan mistook me for your biological mother earlier. I'm just a lowly servant; how could I compare to someone like you? It's natural for you to be upset, but you can't slander me like this! I'm an old woman you're going to be the death of me!"
