The underground chamber felt tense.
Dust floated in the cold air while powerful lamps illuminated the massive stone door. The strange carvings across its surface looked even more mysterious now that Li Wen had spent hours studying them.
She stood directly in front of the circular pattern carved in the center.
Arun watched her closely.
"You think you finally figured it out?"
Li Wen nodded slowly.
"It's not a lock," she said.
"It's a sequence."
Mark folded his arms nearby.
"And if the sequence is wrong?"
Li Wen glanced at him.
"Then we probably break something that's been untouched for two thousand years."
Mark sighed.
"Great."
Li Wen placed her hand carefully on the first symbol.
A triangle-shaped carving resembling a mountain.
She pressed it inward.
A soft grinding sound echoed through the chamber.
Arun's eyes widened.
"That definitely moved."
Li Wen quickly pressed the second symbol—this one shaped like a small square pattern similar to Qin engineering marks.
Another grinding sound followed.
Albert stepped closer.
"You're opening it."
Li Wen studied the final symbol.
A circular mark combining both Egyptian and Chinese carving styles.
She hesitated for a moment.
Then she pressed it.
For several seconds…
Nothing happened.
Then the ground trembled slightly.
Stone shifted deep within the wall.
A loud rumbling sound echoed through the chamber.
The ancient door slowly began to slide open.
Everyone stepped back as dust fell from the ceiling.
Arun whispered quietly.
"I cannot believe that worked."
The door moved only a few feet before stopping.
A narrow opening appeared, revealing complete darkness beyond.
Li Wen took a step forward.
"Lights," she said softly.
Mark switched on a powerful flashlight.
The beam entered the ancient chamber beyond the door.
Li Wen moved closer to the opening.
And then she froze.
"What is it?" Arun asked.
But before she could answer—
far above them on the surface—
the situation had suddenly changed.
Several armed men had forced their way through the outer excavation gate.
Workers stepped back nervously as the strangers approached.
One of them shouted loudly.
"What are you doing here?"
The excavation crew looked confused.
"This is a government-approved research site," one worker replied.
But the men ignored him.
They began moving toward the shaft entrance.
At that moment Hassan hurried toward Albert's satellite communication device.
He spoke urgently into the radio.
"سيد ألبرت… لدينا مشكلة كبيرة هنا. هناك رجال غرباء في الموقع."
Albert's voice came through the speaker immediately.
"ما الذي يحدث؟"
Hassan answered quickly.
"لا أعرف من هم. لكنهم يسألون عن الحفريات."
Albert turned to Mark.
"We may have trouble on the surface."
Meanwhile, above ground, Albert himself stepped forward to meet the strangers who had arrived.
The leader of the group spoke sharply.
"Who authorized this excavation?"
Albert remained calm.
"This project operates under permission from the Egyptian government," he said firmly.
"And it is registered with international archaeological oversight."
The man frowned.
"Show me your authorization."
Albert opened a folder calmly.
"This excavation is approved by the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities," he said.
"And monitored through international heritage channels."
The man looked uncertain for a moment.
But he was clearly unhappy.
"We'll be verifying that," he said coldly.
Albert simply nodded.
"Of course."
But deep underground—
none of that mattered.
Because Li Wen had just stepped through the opening of the ancient chamber.
Her flashlight moved slowly across the darkness.
And what she saw inside…
made her breath stop.
The room was enormous.
Far larger than the chamber outside.
And in the center—
stood something she had never imagined possible.
Something that did not belong to Egypt.
Or China.
Or any empire she had ever studied.
Li Wen whispered only one sentence.
"That's impossible."
And the beam of her flashlight revealed the shape—
of a massive structure buried beneath the earth for more than two thousand years.
