Loreen's POV
Loreen did not react, though his fingers tightened slightly against the table. "That is your opinion." He said.
"It is a fact," she replied smoothly. "There are far better options. Stronger alliances. More suitable ladies."
She paused, watching him, then continued. "Lady Evelyne of House Rourke would bring wealth and influence. Lady Maris of House Elwin has strong ties to the northern provinces. Either would serve you better."
Loreen's jaw tightened. Of course she had a list ready. Of course she had already thought it through, weighed every benefit, every gain.
Names, houses, alliances. It was all laid out neatly in her mind, waiting for him to fall in line. That was why they had insisted on him getting married.
"And yet, I chose none of them," he said quietly.
Greta tilted her head slightly. "Which is why I question your judgment."
Loreen let out a soft breath through his nose, his eyes narrowing. "You question it because it does not suit you."
