Sairis's POV
Edgar and his men left soon after.
The moment they were gone, Lady Collette turned to Sairis. Her voice broke through his thoughts. "Sairis, I would like you to come to my office. There are matters we need to discuss."
Sairis blinked, surprised, and gave a small nod. "Of course, my lady," he replied. Though he would rather be talking to Candice instead.
Sairis followed Lady Collette through the quiet halls of the estate, his footsteps soft on the polished floors. The study was warm and orderly, the scent of parchment and ink filling the air.
Lady Collette moved with her usual grace, settling into the high-backed chair behind her desk.
"Please, have a seat," she said, gesturing to the chair opposite her.
Sairis lowered himself carefully onto the edge of the chair, keeping his back straight. Lady Collette reached for a small tray and set a steaming cup of tea in front of him.
"Tea?" she offered politely.
