Sairis's POV
Edgar's gaze shifted from Sairis's face, down to his lips. He lingered there for a moment, too long to be casual, as if he was thinking about kissing Sairis. Then he looked back up at Sairis's eyes, his expression unreadable.
He cleared his throat, breaking the silence that had settled between them.
"Well," Edgar began, his voice lower now. "I got the message that there was someone else that complicated matters. I did not want to make you uncomfortable with too many questions after that."
Sairis watched him closely, his brow slowly lifting.
"So that was why you did not even look at me when you came to the Taal estate?" Sairis asked, his tone light but sharp enough to tease.
Edgar let out a slow sigh, rubbing the back of his neck like the memory itself annoyed him.
