The courtyard was not empty this time. People were standing around in groups. Some were training. Some were watching.
The space was filled with movement. It was not evenly distributed. There was a center where everyone was focused.
Lin Tian walked into the courtyard. Nobody stopped him. He could feel the air shift slightly. People were aware of his presence.
He walked to the side. Stopped to watch. Two disciples were standing in the center facing each other. They did not seem tense or hostile ready.
One of them moved forward. Struck with his palm. The other disciple. Deflected the strike then counterattacked.
The movement was simple and clean with no wasted motion. Their Qi moved with them evenly and connected. Each action supported the next and every movement reinforced the one.
They were not fast or powerful. Their movements were complete. The exchange ended quickly.
They stepped back and nodded at each other. Then they. Another pair of disciples stepped in. There was no announcement or signal a continuation of the training.
Lin Tian watched, breathing steadily. He could feel the Chaos Qi following him stable and contained.
Separate from the others. A presence approached him from his left walking directly and without hiding. Lin Tian did not turn immediately. He could feel the persons closeness.
The person said, "You." The voice was flat without any emotion. Lin Tian turned to face the disciple, who was taller and had a build.
The disciples eyes were steady, not curious or hostile just deciding.
The disciple said, "You're the one." Lin Tian nodded once. The disciple looked at him for a moment before saying, "Step in."
There was no explanation. The disciple turned and walked towards the center of the courtyard.
Lin Tian watched him go then stepped. The space around him opened up.
Peoples eyes shifted subtly. They noticed him now. Not openly. Lin Tian stepped into the center of the courtyard. Stopped. The other disciple faced him without taking a stance.
The disciple asked, "Name?" Lin Tian replied, "Lin Tian." The disciple nodded, without any reaction.
Said, "I don't care. I want to see." Lin Tian did not. The space around them cleared slightly.
The disciple raised his hand not attacking, but signaling. He said, "Come." Lin Tian breathed in
. The Chaos Qi gathered. He breathed out. The Qi settled. Then he stepped forward without taking a stance or using a technique. He just moved.
The disciple moved first striking with an clean motion. Lin Tian. The Chaos Qi shifted, flowing around him. The strike passed close to his shoulder. He stepped in closing the distance. His hand moved towards the disciples arm making contact.
The Chaos Qi slipped in, light and disturbing. The disciple reacted instantly twisting his arm and redirecting the contact.
A second strike came, short and direct. Lin Tian raised his arm. Met it feeling the impact. The strike was sharper and stronger than before. His body shifted back half a step.
The ground held him. He did not lose balance.. He felt the difference, the strain of the exchange.
nThe disciple did not pause, following through with a sequence of strikes. Lin Tians breathing. He turned and redirected the strikes. The Chaos Qi moved with him better than before but not enough.

A strike slipped through. Hit his side, controlled but real. His body. He absorbed the impact redirecting what he could.. Not all of it. He stepped back one full step. The distance opened up. The disciple did not chase immediately. He watched, measured and then closed the distance again this time.
Lin Tian adjusted, his movements tightening, with space and less delay. The Chaos Qi responded quicker, closer to his intent. A strike came high. He lowered his center turning to let it pass. A second strike came low. He shifted his weight barely avoiding it.
His hand moved again touching the disciples arm and the Chaos Qi entered, deeper this time. The disciples movement paused, slightly a fraction of a moment. Enough for Lin Tian to step in. Close the gap. But he did not attack he did not have a follow-up.
The moment. The disciple recovered his expression unchanged.. His movements sharpened and the next strike came harder not uncontrolled, but no longer light. Lin Tian met it feeling the impact sharp. His arm. The Chaos Qi compressed instantly holding, but not fully.
A portion of the Qi slipped through. Hit his chest, dull and heavy. His breath. He stepped back two steps this time. The ground cracked slightly beneath his heel. The courtyard remained silent watching.
The disciple advanced, not rushed, but certain. He said, "You're unstable." Not mocking, just stating. Lin Tian steadied his breath longer and more controlled. The Chaos Qi tightened, denser and compact less spread.
He stepped forward again this time not waiting. He moved first a motion, direct, not a technique. The disciple met him easily deflected and counterattacked. Their arms. The contact held longer this time. The Chaos Qi surged, not outward. Inward compressed and then released into the contact point.
The disciples arm trembled, slightly a disruption, small but real. His follow-up slowed, for a fraction of a moment. Lin Tian felt it. Again he did not capitalize. No trained sequence, no finishing move, only reaction. The moment. The disciple stepped back creating space.
His eyes narrowed slightly not in anger but interest. He said, "Again." He stepped in now no more testing. The pressure. Lin Tian responded, but the gap widened. Each exchange he held,. Only just. Each impact he reduced,. Not fully.
His breathing grew heavier, tighter and shorter. The Chaos Qi remained stable. The strain increased. This was sustained, not a clash, not a moment but continuous. That was the difference. Another strike landed, his shoulder, controlled but firm. His body shifted, balance held, barely.
He did not fall,. He did not advance. The disciple stopped abruptly. The exchange ended. No signal, no move just stop. Silence. The disciple looked at him steady. He said, "You don't know how to fight." A pause. ". You don't break." Another pause. "That's enough."
He turned and walked away no victory no defeat declared, just end. The space relaxed and people moved again as if nothing had happened. Lin Tian stood where he was breathing heavily but controlled. The Chaos Qi circulated, stable, still intact no collapse, no backlash, only strain, fading.
He exhaled, long. The tension left his body, piece by piece. A presence approached, different from before, slower, quieter. Lin Tian. A figure stood a short distance away, older, not by much but different. His gaze was calm focused, not, on Lin Tians body, but deeper, observing.
The man said, "You're wasting effort." His voice was even, not critical not dismissive. Lin Tian said nothing. The man stepped closer. Said, "Your Qi doesn't follow the method." A pause. "It won't." Lin Tian met his gaze, silent.
The man nodded slightly as if confirming something already known. He said, "Good." Not praise, recognition. A moment passed.
Then he said to Lin Tian
"Come find me after training."
That was it. He did not say what Lin Tian was supposed to do. He did not even give Lin Tian his name.
Lin Tian saw him turn around. He saw him leave. He did not wait for Lin Tian to respond.
Lin Tian watched him go.
Then Lin Tian looked inside himself. The Chaos Qi inside Lin Tian started to move. It was dense. It was responding to something.. It was not aligned with anything. It was different from before.
Lin Tian took a breath. He breathed in. Then he breathed out.
The courtyard was quiet again.. Something was different now. Lin Tian was no longer a face, in the crowd.
That was something that Lin Tian could not ignore. The Chaos Qi had changed something in Lin Tian. That change was not going away.
