Chapter 12 - THE GODS PLAY GAMES

The statement of King Sargon started an uproar inside the king's hall, everyone was surprised, some saying what the king has said is stuporous, it is a fools decision.

King Sargon shouted, "I am your king!!, have you forgotten who I am? Praise the gods all you who stand here, because my anger will be satisfied tomorrow,

If not I would have carried your heads with my blade, and drink strong drinks with your skull, never forget! It is I, Sargon the god.

leave me, all of you!".

In a few minutes the kings hall is extremely quite, nobody was left inside, it almost felt haunting for the king, to sit on his throne and make such a statement.

This is Gilgamesh Sakkanakku, his loyal and faithful servant, why would he try to kill the king after all this year's? The king become more restless as his own thoughts huants him.

The day set to behead Gilgamesh Sakkanakku finally came, the king Sargon is sat to watch the head of Gilgamesh Sakkanakku fall of.

No one knows the real reason king Sargon is trying to cut of the head of Gilgamesh Sakkanakku.

As the king is sat, he remembers the taunting and haunting voice of priestess Nanshe "this is why you will die by the hand of the one you love so much, but before your death, you will be known fully as an usurper."

King Sargon can not bare it, he must ensure that he eradicate every threat to the throne.

All the prisoners are brought out to witness this powerful moment, a moment of madness.

The Israelite is amongst them.

Ur-Nammu brought him outside so they stood together to watch.

"The feeling of Babylon has not changed, but the pain in breathing in the air has increased, it was better before, I can feel it, something is terribly wrong, in a moment of time things will go so bad" The Israelite spoke quietly under his breath.

Ur-Nammu responds, "so you do not see what I see?

"Oh, I didn't think anyone will hear me" the Israelite replied."

"You haven't answered my question" Ur-Nammu responds quickly.

"The only thing I can see here, now, is the repetition, they did thesame thing to kalumtum the Chaldean, but for some reason I have a strange feeling about today's death." The Israelite responds

"What kind of feeling" Ur-Nammu asks,

"It is the kind that is going to open a new wave of war and betrayals" the Israelite replied, looking more sad.

"We will soon know. the death of kalumtum was exceedingly unrighteous, but he needed to die, he is the first sacrifice for the greater good" Ur-Nammu spoke as though he is expecting the gods to play a game.

The executioner took the stage, with his dark magic, causing his raiments to glitch as though deeped into a large furnace of dark smoke, his terrifying mask, and his deep voice, his presence is terrifying.

He is growing so much Fame within the small unit of people, people with so much hate for themselves, they worship him.

screaming from one side to another "He kills for the gods" "he is the helper of the gods" insinuating that he helps the gods, making him the direct judgement of the gods.

The executioner opened his mouth speaking nearly thesame words, "this man has committed treason, this man is Gilgamesh, a Sakkanakku over Sparta, this man tried to kill the king, as my culture is, I will do you the honour, speak for yourself "

Gilgamesh Sakkanakku raised his heard and looked around the crowd, just as he was about to open his mouth, he saw Ur-Nammu.

looking towards the king, he saw Aplahanda Sakkanakku and other ranking officials, he became more terrified, it is like a session of life is opened to him, he felt devastated, his emotions and ego brought to not, it felt like a seance was done to him, reminding him of the ghost of memories.

Gilgamesh Sakkanakku slowly opened his mouth to speak, he is broken to the depth of his soul, his voice wavering and shaking, it is like he is taken away by a large wicked wind, so that his voice is heard only by himself.

he began speaking, "I have wronged many people, including the king, but for the worst of all, I have wronged myself, I have been bitter and jealous, I have been confused and I can feel it, I am close to madness,

someone said "it is the cruelty of the gods," what will I do to be redeemed from this death?

I suppose, nothing, I battle daily with the delima of my soul, I lay with the brokenness of spirit, finding peace in breaking others, but today I am being broken, at least I know now what mercy could look like... Nammu, you are my childhood friend, and I forsook you, I am sorry.

The Executioner picked up his mighty dark axe, used in the killing of many great men, women including children.

The moment he brings it down to lunch at the head of Gilgamesh Sakkanakku, a blast from within the axe blew open, darkening the atmosphere, it was like lightening moving through the sky with a dark cloud in it's way.

Terrifying the people and causing most of the small minds to flee for fear of the gods. When the midst was gone Gilgamesh Sakkanakku survived.

The king in that hour gave a sigh of relieve, Aplahanda Sakkanakku observed the happiness in the king's eyes.

King Sargon shouted, "what is the matter with you?"

The executioner spoke in his darkness, "the gods have decided to spare Gilgamesh Sakkanakku."

The king stood up and said, "then let it be so".

Then the king walks away, leaving Aplahanda Sakkanakku that looked at him in a suspicious manner as he walks away.

Gilgamesh Sakkanakku is weeping, but we can only see that his heart cries for mercy, maybe, just maybe, maybe he is found mercy, and however this mercy came, it is still mercy, offering him a second chance to make amends.

The Israelite looks directly at Ur-Nammu, then Ur-Nammu said to him "well, it looks like you were right Israelite, I knew the gods will play a game today, I have told you before, we are only puns in the hands of men and the devine."

The Israelite replied, "I wish the strange woman was here with us, because even in my confusion, I can still tell that so much is about to begin.

tell me, I pray you, who is that strange woman? And why is no one telling me about her?"

Just as the Israelite is speaking with Ur-Nammu an uproar began with the followers of the Executioner, but it was within themselves, no one dared to attack the executioner.

They spoke out loud shouting and cursing, "if you kill for the gods, if you help the gods, then tell us why the gods refuse your help today?

How can they deny you from helping them?

As they spoke out loud, the executioner loses the chains of Gilgamesh Sakkanakku disappearing in thesame moment creating a terrifying feeling within them, it felt as though he had spoken to them to be quiet,

reminding them who is truly closer to the gods.

But why? What could possibly happen? There's no explanation yet, but maybe we could find one.

Slowly the people began to return, Ur-Nammu quietly takes The Israelite back to his cell.

just a few moments after he was brought in, he spoke out to the strange woman, "I have seen a strange thing today, Gilgamesh Sakkanakku lives!!,

(he burst into laughter) and then he continues to speak, "tell me, when did the gods started sparing life? How then should I believe that Gilgamesh Sakkanakku survived?

Did you know that Gilgamesh Sakkanakku was childhood friends with Ur-Nammu? It makes me wonder what else I don't know."

Ur-Nammu looks at the strange woman, the strange woman looks at Ur-Nammu, The Israelite noticing the two of them, realizes it,

"oh no!! You two where lovers!!" The shock on his face was priceless, it was like a child being given a toy for the first time, he could not believe it.
