Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Amu Saves Someone

Arkz whistled, and Amu quickly ran over.

Arkz pointed at the carriage and said to Amu, "Take Ellin and the others home, then bring the carriage back. Do you understand?"

Amu nodded seriously, then happily climbed onto the carriage like a child who had just received a toy.

Ellin poked her head out of the carriage window and waved at Arkz. Arkz leaned closer.

Ellin whispered, "Is that guy Amu reliable? He won't lead us straight into a ditch, will he?"

Arkz thought about it but decided not to tell her the fact that Amu had very strong senses and could hear her even whispering so closely.

Arkz said, "The wooden horse will automatically follow the road. You just need to point the way at intersections."

"Amu is here to protect you on the road. Don't let his small and thin appearance fool you; dealing with one Mitachurl is no problem for him."

Ellin looked at Amu's retreating figure and exclaimed, "Really? Amu is actually that amazing?"

As expected, Amu, hearing Arkz's praise, started performing acrobatics on the carriage like a monkey.

Waving his hand, Arkz bid farewell to Ellin's family sitting in the carriage.

The carriage was naturally not made just to send Ellin's family back to Mondstadt. Otherwise, Arkz could have simply shaped one with Elemental Power; it would have been much faster and easier than having the wooden person painstakingly piece together the wooden frame, and then having Amu bring the carriage back after dropping off Ellin's family in Mondstadt.

Arkz could also use this carriage when he went to Mondstadt City. Furthermore, once the crops on the farm matured, this carriage would be convenient for transportation. The system-provided backpack could only hold one stack of items per slot, which was sufficient for small transport needs.

But when the farm developed and various crops matured, the space in his backpack would definitely not be enough.

At that time, the system's wooden crates would come in handy. Each wooden crate had thirty-six storage slots, and the carriage had space for at least six wooden crates, which could completely satisfy the delivery needs once the farm developed.

On the other side, after Amu took the wooden horse carriage and delivered Ellin's family to Mondstadt City, he bid farewell to them under the curious gazes of the people at the city gate.

Unfortunately, the Knights of Favonius guarding the gate were worried that the tall wooden horse and the strangely looking Amu might cause panic among the citizens of Mondstadt, so they forbade them from entering. Otherwise, Amu would have liked to deliver Ellin's family right to their doorstep.

After receiving thanks from Ellin's family, Amu happily began his return journey.

During the journey, Amu never used a whip on the wooden horse. When the wooden horse took a wrong turn, Amu would patiently twist its ear to guide it onto the correct path.

Compared to his foolish colleagues on the farm, Amu preferred this big fellow in front of him. The wooden horse was not only faster and stronger than him, but it always responded to him. The wooden people on the farm never reacted, no matter how Amu teased them.

At least twisting the wooden horse's ear would make it change direction.

Amu curiously observed everything along the roadside. This was the first time it had ventured outside the boundaries of Springvale. Whether it was the squirrels in the trees, the wild boars in the woods, or the Hilichurls by the roadside, everything made Amu curious.

"Help! Is anyone there? Save me!"

Hearing the cry for help, Amu instantly became alert.

During idle chat with the Patrol Team, its teammates had taught it that when someone shouted like that, they might need help.

In Amu's mind: Helping others = receiving praise. Amu, who longed for recognition and praise, immediately became excited and urged the carriage toward the source of the cry for help.

When Amu rushed to the sound, it found a group of Hilichurls dancing around a large tree. On the tree, a young girl wearing an Adventurers Guild uniform was hugging a branch and shouting for help.

The girl in the tree saw a carriage approaching and shouted for help even more vigorously.

Amu looked at the girl in the tree and scratched its head in confusion.

Amu: "Ellin, didn't you just go home? How did you end up here in the blink of an eye?"

In Amu's eyes, all humans looked the same. It mainly distinguished humans by the color of their clothes and their hairstyles, but people often changed clothes and hairstyles, which often caused Amu to mistake one person for another.

The girl trapped in the tree by the Hilichurls saw that the person getting out of the carriage was a wooden person and immediately hesitated about whether to continue seeking help. To think that such a silly wooden person could mistake her for someone else—she was so beautiful, yet she could still be misidentified.

The girl certainly couldn't tolerate it. She immediately shouted at Amu, "You've got the wrong person! I'm not Ellin, I'm Siegfrieda!!!"

Amu took a closer look and immediately noticed the difference between the two:

"Oh! Your hair is black, Ellin's hair is brownish-yellow!"

"I'm sorry, I mistook you for someone else."

"I just heard someone crying for help. Was that you?"

Siegfrieda's face immediately darkened. She thought to herself, "Is there anyone else here? Can't you see the Hilichurls below?"

She let out a long sigh, lamenting her bad luck today.

As an Adventurer from the Adventurers Guild, she usually only did odd jobs and errands because she couldn't even defeat a few Hilichurls. Fortunately, she was fast, and she had earned a fair amount of Mora delivering goods between Mondstadt and Springvale.

However, today while making a delivery, she encountered Hilichurls. Normally she could easily shake them off, but unfortunately, the direction she fled also had Hilichurls. Thus, two groups of Hilichurls surrounded her, and Siegfrieda could only climb the tree to hide for a while.

Siegfrieda replied, "I was the one shouting for help. Can you defeat these Hilichurls? Please help me ask others for assistance, don't act rashly!"

Although this wooden person looked silly and his words were irritating, since he had come to save her, Siegfrieda did not want this wooden person to be bullied or injured by the Hilichurls because of her.

Facing Siegfrieda's question, Amu confidently patted its chest. It had to drive away many Hilichurls trying to steal things from the farm every day, and it had also scared away many Hilichurls while patrolling. These few little critters were nothing in its eyes.

Amu: "Amu charges!"

Amu shouted the slogan and rushed under the large tree where Siegfrieda was hiding. In just a few moves, it beat the Hilichurls dancing around the tree until they scattered in panic, fleeing without looking back.

Seeing Amu fight so bravely, Siegfrieda immediately climbed down from the tree and looked at Amu with sparkling eyes, saying, "You are truly amazing!"

Siegfrieda: "What should I call you?"

Hearing Siegfrieda's compliment, Amu smiled happily and replied, "My name is Amu."

Siegfrieda's eyes darted, and she gave a sly smile, looking at Amu and saying, "Since you saved my life, I should repay you."

"I have a business here that can earn a large amount of Mora. Do you want to join?"

"Mora?" Amu recalled what the Patrol Team members had told it:

"Amu, Mora is the favorite gift of humans. When you don't know what to give, giving Mora is never wrong."

Amu thought, "If I give Mora to Arkz, I will definitely receive praise."

Amu, tempted, asked curiously, "What business? Can it really earn a lot of Mora?"

Siegfrieda smiled slightly, thinking to herself, "He took the bait."
