Chapter 4 - A Quiet Evening and a Gentle Confession

The day moved slowly toward evening. Maggie was still resting in Hirav's arms, her head gently placed on his chest. After the long morning and all the emotional moments they had shared, she looked tired.

Softly, Maggie whispered, "Baby… I feel sleepy."

Hirav smiled and held her a little closer.

"Okay, baby," he said gently. "You can sleep."

He wrapped his arms around her so she could rest comfortably, and soon Maggie closed her eyes again. The room became quiet except for the slow rhythm of her breathing.

Hours passed peacefully.

At one point Maggie stirred slightly and snuggled closer to him, as if his chest was the most comfortable pillow in the world. Hirav stayed still, not wanting to disturb her rest.

By the time evening arrived, Hirav's younger sister returned home. Her first exam of the week had just finished.

She walked into the room and immediately froze when she saw Maggie sleeping with her head on Hirav's chest. A huge grin appeared on her face.

"So this is the truth," she said with amusement. "You two are together!"

Maggie slowly opened her eyes when she heard the voice. She looked from Hirav to his sister and blushed deeply.

"He hasn't exactly said yes yet," Maggie murmured shyly.

Hirav tried to stay calm and replied quickly, "She's just my friend, nothing else."

But his sister burst out laughing.

"Really?" she said. "Because your 'friend' is still lying on your chest."

Maggie looked down shyly and whispered softly, "Liar."

Before the conversation could go any further, his sister shook her head, still smiling.

"I'll go change my clothes," she said. "We'll talk in ten minutes."

She walked away laughing.

For a moment the room became quiet again. Maggie slowly lifted her head and looked at Hirav, her eyes bright with curiosity.

"Five or ten minutes alone with you," she said playfully. "What will we do?"

But instead of answering, Hirav simply held her again. Maggie blushed and eventually rested her head back on his chest, drifting back into a light sleep.

A few minutes later his sister returned. When she entered the room, she gently lifted Maggie's head from Hirav's chest and looked at both of them with a teasing smile.

"Busted," she said. "Maggie's face says everything."

Maggie's cheeks turned bright red again, and she whispered quietly, "She's not wrong…"

His sister laughed happily.

"Alright, tell me everything," she said. "What happened while I was changing?"

Hirav quickly tried to explain.

"Nothing happened," he said. "Maggie isn't feeling well, so I'm helping her calm down. We're just friends."

But Maggie, still blushing, leaned closer to him and rested her head on his chest again.

His sister crossed her arms and laughed again.

"Friends don't look at each other like that," she said.

Maggie whispered shyly, "Do friends usually feel their hearts beating this fast?"

Hirav tried to stay serious.

"Yes, because Maggie is sick," he insisted. "I'm just helping her."

But Maggie hugged him tighter and said softly, "Maybe this sickness disappears when you're close."

Their sister could hardly stop laughing.

"Alright, I'll leave you two alone," she said jokingly. "Go give her some 'medicine.'"

Hirav quickly replied, "No medicine is needed. Just love… as a friend."

His sister peeked back into the room dramatically.

"Liar!" she laughed before walking away again.

Maggie gently rested her forehead against Hirav's and whispered, "Best friendship medicine ever."

Soon their sister announced from her room that she had another exam the next day and needed to study. Before closing her door, she gave Hirav a playful, mischievous look that made Maggie laugh.

As the night arrived, the house became quiet again.

Maggie was once again sleeping peacefully in Hirav's arms, her breathing calm and steady.

Moonlight entered through the window, lighting the peaceful scene.

Just then there was a knock on the door.

It was his sister again.

"Bhaiya, exam time tomorrow!" she called from outside the door. "And… is Maggie still sleeping there?"

Hirav smiled quietly.

Yes—Maggie was still asleep in his arms.

After a moment she stirred slightly, opened her sleepy eyes, and looked up at him.

Seeing his face, she gave a small, gentle smile.

And in that quiet moment, everything felt simple and warm—just two young hearts slowly understanding what they meant to each other.
