Chapter 29 - CHAPTER 29: A Coincidence That Felt Like Fate

The weekend arrived quietly—but not without intention.

🌿 Earlier That Day

Kim So Hee didn't usually make plans.

But today—

She did.

"You're free, right?" Kang So Ra asked over the phone, her tone casual but expectant.

So Hee stood by her window, looking out at the calm city below.

"…For a few hours."

"That's enough," So Ra replied immediately. "I'll pick you up."

Before So Hee could respond—

The call ended.

A small sigh escaped her lips.

"…Still the same."

But she didn't cancel.

Meanwhile—

Across the city—

Ahn Soo Bin stood nervously outside a small café, checking her phone for what felt like the tenth time.

Why am I nervous…?

She knew why.

Because this—

Wasn't just hanging out.

It felt like a date.

"Soo Bin."

She looked up immediately.

Lee Go Eun stood in front of her, dressed simply, her presence calm as always—but softer outside the hospital.

"You're early," Go Eun said.

"You're later than me," Soo Bin shot back lightly.

Go Eun smiled faintly. "By one minute."

Soo Bin laughed.

And just like that—

Her nerves eased.

"Let's go," Soo Bin said. "I found a nice place nearby."

🌸 Two Different Paths…

So Hee and So Ra walked side by side through a quiet shopping street.

"You really agreed," So Ra said, glancing at her.

"You asked," So Hee replied simply.

"That's not usually enough."

"It was today."

So Ra smiled.

"You've changed."

So Hee didn't respond.

But her thoughts drifted—

Just briefly—

To someone else.

Not far away—

Soo Bin and Go Eun walked together, their pace relaxed, their conversation light.

"You seem in a good mood," Go Eun said.

"I am," Soo Bin replied, smiling. "It's been a while since we've done this."

"Done what?"

"Just… go out. Like this."

Go Eun glanced at her.

"…You mean like a date?"

Soo Bin choked slightly. "W-What? No— I mean— I didn't—"

Go Eun let out a small laugh.

"I'm joking."

"…You're not funny."

But Soo Bin was smiling.

🌼 The Moment They Meet

It happened without warning.

Two paths crossing.

Two conversations pausing.

And suddenly—

"Oh."

Soo Bin froze.

"…So Hee?"

Kim So Hee looked up.

"Soo Bin."

A brief silence.

Then—

Soo Bin's eyes shifted.

To the person beside her.

Kang So Ra.

And at the same time—

So Ra's gaze landed on—

Lee Go Eun.

There it was again.

That quiet, unspoken tension.

"Well," So Ra broke the silence, a small smile forming on her lips. "This is unexpected."

Go Eun nodded slightly. "It is."

Soo Bin let out an awkward laugh.

"Wow… what are the chances?"

So Hee glanced at her briefly.

"You're out," she said.

Soo Bin blinked.

"…You are too."

There was a pause.

Then—

So Ra spoke again.

"Were we interrupting something?" she asked, her tone light—but intentional.

Soo Bin straightened slightly.

"N-No, we were just—"

"On a date?" Go Eun added calmly.

Soo Bin froze.

"…Go Eun."

Too late.

So Ra's smile widened slightly.

"Ah," she said. "I see."

Soo Bin felt her face heat up.

Meanwhile—

So Hee remained quiet.

But her eyes shifted—

Just briefly—

To Soo Bin.

And stayed there.

🌸 Together, Somehow

"Well," So Ra said after a moment, "since we're already here…"

She looked between them.

"Should we join each other?"

Soo Bin hesitated.

Her first instinct—

Was to refuse.

Because this—

This was supposed to be different.

But—

She glanced at So Hee.

And for some reason—

She couldn't say no.

"…Okay," she said quietly.

They ended up at a nearby café.

Two "dates" turning into one table.

Soo Bin sat beside Go Eun—

But her attention kept drifting.

To the person across from her.

Kim So Hee.

Their eyes met.

Just briefly.

And Soo Bin quickly looked away.

"So," So Ra leaned back slightly, "this turned out more interesting than expected."

"It did," Go Eun replied calmly.

Their eyes met again.

And again—

That subtle tension.

Not sharp.

Not obvious.

But there.

Meanwhile—

Soo Bin picked up her drink, trying to act normal.

But she could feel it.

Every time So Hee spoke

Every time she looked at her

Every small movement

It affected her.

"You're quiet," So Hee said suddenly.

Soo Bin blinked.

"…Am I?"

"Yes."

There was no judgment.

Just observation.

Soo Bin smiled slightly.

"Just thinking."

"About?"

Soo Bin hesitated.

Her heart started beating faster.

"…Nothing important."

A lie.

But this time—

So Hee didn't let it go immediately.

She held her gaze.

Just a second longer.

And something about that—

Made Soo Bin's chest tighten.

Under the table—

Soo Bin's fingers curled slightly.

Say it.

Go Eun's voice echoed in her mind.

If you don't… you'll regret it.

Soo Bin swallowed.

Her eyes lifted again.

To So Hee.

Maybe… now.

But before she could speak—

"So Hee," So Ra's voice cut in smoothly.

Soo Bin paused.

And just like that—

The moment slipped away.

The rest of the afternoon passed in a mix of light conversation and quiet tension.

But something had changed.

Because this time—

Soo Bin didn't just feel it.

She knew it.

She couldn't keep holding back forever.
