She walked him into the house, he sat for a while. She prepared sushi, beef stew and rice. She placed his chop sticks by the side with a spoon. He smiled at the table. "You always know my favorite mom."
"Speaking of favorite, that Jade? That's not my favorite at all? Why did you take the job? Jade is a deadly man with a lot of clans and evil people. Li? Tell me the whole story."
Li stared at her for a while, later he said. "Mom. The way you talk, do you know this man?"
"That man? If I know him? Li? I knew him even more than majority of the people you know of. I knew him when he didn't have anything at all. He was just a simple chef. A poor and simple chef."
"Chef? You mean, just like me? So what happened? He followed the wrong crowd?"
"No not that. He made the wrong crowd. He's the original bad man."
"Mom? Did you get closer to him? Do you know him from anywhere? Close?"
"Yes Li. We dated." She said.
Li stared at his mother, did she just end the conversation with that sentence? How? So they dated and now he's thinking the worst possible.
"So what happened to the relationship?"
"Li he fell out with another woman and then wanted someone else after all I gave him. He left me for money. I don't think I can stay with that."
"Mom what happened? I want to know the full story, tell me everything."
"Jade actually got me pregnant when he got drunk and then he asked me abort the baby. He was angry and annoyed at me for even having sex with him. I was more than heartbroken. I felt like a fool and more than a fool. He's not the best example for a father."
"And let me guess, he's my father right?"
She stared at him, "Li it's a long story okay?"
"Mom I want to know the long story." Li said.
"Zhao Ming is your twin brother, Li."
Li stared at her calmly. He was speechless. Jade preferred he take one of them after the both of you were born. I couldn't stop him and then he left without a word.
Li stood there watching his mother calmly. "That bitch? He's my brother and I'm guessing he's aware of his position in my life isn't he? Who's the older twin?"
"He is."
Li placed both his hands on his face in disgust. He yelled through them. He removed his hands, he placed his body lower and noticed the grilled chicken and fish in the oven. "I don't like the sound of this but then why would you hide that from me?"
"I thought you were too young or immature?"
"No I meant the grilled chicken and the grilled fish." He pointed towards it. She waited and stared at him for a while.
"Li are you crazy?!" She turned back to the oven. She threw a kitchen towel at him. She tried to throw a cup at him but he dodged it. He fell lower to the ground out loud. "Li? Stand up. That chicken is for tomorrow. You know I'm trying to manage here."
He forgot he was rich and his mother wasn't at all. "Mom? I'll handle the bills for tomorrow okay? Just let me do my job and then I'll let you know what I can provide."
"Li what can you provide?" Li smiled at her. "Why are you smiling at me?"
"Well simply because I need the chicken and the fish and I'll order a hundred more from the restaurant and then they'll be here within minutes."
"I guess Jade have you something really high then? What's your position anyway?"
"Executive assistant."
"Wow and I guess you know nothing free comes from Jade? How about the illegal jobs, the fake gold and fake precious stones and the fake money. The cash. Tell me, did I forget anything?" She asked.
"I guess not. Oh wait. Th ex fake boyfriend contract."
"What?" She dropped her tea down to the table. "Excuse me? Fake boyfriend? Are you gay? Li? There's lots of women in the city."
"The city? What city? Majority of the girls aren't wives yet?"
"Are you calling the girls in the city whores?! Li? You've become proud and spoilt! Look at you!" She yelled at him. She hit his shoulder.
"Mom no. I'm saying I can't find a wife yet and I feel it's too much for me now. I need to focus." He explained.
"On what? What's more important than you getting your university degree and your marriage certificate?"
"Well maybe work. More money and even a company, a global company. There's more to do."
"And after that? What's next Li? What's next? More money and more greed and more envy and more corruption! Even more of women and getting drunk? I hope you've not dived into drugs and even worse, killing? Li answer me!" She asked.
"No ma! No! I didn't ! I'm serious! I didn't at all. I got drunk once but it wasn't too serious and now I think I'm fine. I'm sane."
She stared at him, "Li I'll get you a girl from this side of the city."
"No. I'll find one."
"Li I'll hit your head with a frying pan if you come with a stupid girl. I promise you, I'll hit both your heads with frying pans and bread. I'll add eggs for humor! Raw smelling eggs! Trust me." Li laughed at her statement.
"Mom relax. It's fine enough for me to be like this, I'll be fine. Also I wanted to let you know something."
"What you got a new car now?" She gawked at him.
"No I got you a new apartment for now and then after that, I got you your own bakery and store. Don't you love it?"
She dropped the frying pan in her hands. "What? Li are you serious?"
"Of course. I did. I need you to pick the most you need from here and I'll take you there."
She screamed and hugged Li tight. "Thank you Li! I'm so happy!" She kissed his face deeply. She smiled and walked off to get ready.
Li received a beep through his phone. "Zhao? Again?"
Get back to the off ice within an hour. There's a new campaign in the planning phase. Get ready. I need you here.
Li replied with, Okay twin.
Zhao, ??? So you knew all along? I guess you met mom then. Send my greetings.
Li didn't reply the message, "Or you could come over to give her the message yourself whenever you find her then."
