"Sarit"
"Finallllyyy" I exclaimed stretching out my slender body. I loved watching Chada's eyes follow my frame. I must admit, it is fun playing with your prey.
He had his eyes on me, like studying my moves, inquisitive. He was seemingly in deep thought, possibly trying to figure out what to make of all this. I mean I wonder what it would be like if I had no idea humans existed and suddenly they were in my world. That's probably what the first sirens experienced. Scientifically it's most plausible that we evolved first, depending on theories of evolution.
However I wouldn't deign to feel any sympathy for the man. Rather I relished in the very fact that my nature was so mind boggling. After all, I know I am breathtaking.
Abyss was playing with a bone dagger we'd carved and sharpened ourselves. He was quietly sitting against some railings with a dark sinister smile in his eyes.
Now that we had gotten our in, I don't need to stick around this sucker of pearl eyed man much longer.
"Abyss shall we get back home for now?"
He turned towards me flashing a glimpse of a tattoo we shared. One that I should remind him to cover up later.
"Just a minute, I can go back and forth between land and here, but how are you to get back on land again tomorrow? Do you intend to keep Chada as your toy?"
He suddenly stepped up from leaning on his car, "uh uh! Don't even think about continuing to rope me into this. I need to return to work by tomorrow and I need to have you both go your own ways or your own fins." Chada said.
"Oh, really?" I said walking closer. "I know where you reside now. It's not far from shore. I bet you can hear me from the beaches"
I looked up and down from his eyes to his lips. He gulped making eye contact then looking away.
I felt that heat rising in me again, now I may hate intimacy but my siren elders had told me enough to know what was happening here was 'dangerous' for me.
I backed away by a step. Still feeling the sizzling in the air between our skin. Part of that felt like ripping velcro apart. Blasted siren insticts.
He responded "I can always wear earplugs."
"I can send Abyss to drag you to me every day" Abyss glanced our direction then backed into the shadows. I retorted flicking him from the air without actually touching him, with a ton of sass.
"You can certainly try. I have no intention of what happened before have the same hold over me now though" he said
I scoffed while smirking. "Good, because I don't want to touch a filthy human either, if not for Abyss being important to me" I said obstinately
He looked at me a bit confused, as if not really understanding the context. I forgot that he doesn't really have a clue what we're talking about with intimacy and land changes or anything for that matter. Beings like Abyss which are a species that can morph to their surroundings and talents the world probably knows as magic often are what humans associate us as being able to do, morph onto land freely.
However, I did not feel eager to enlighten him to this. Needing a human? How deplorable and disgusting. I would have to think up something else surely.
Once we had made our way back to the shore. I stood there briefly not sure what to do. What awaits down there is familiarity.
What I know as home. Today was intense. A lot, I know once I go back down there I will have to listen to the others nag and nag even though I just want to take a long, very long nap. I was already starting to be sleepy. I needed at least 12 hours sleep now, and a full skin care routine to make up for whatever the air was doing to my skin.
"Shall we head in now?" I turned to my friend.
"Sarit... I'm worried." He said back.
I patted his shoulder gently "whatever for? Home is safe. We can come back another time"
"I can but not you. Neither place is quite home for me. Yet I can traverse them both. You are stuck in one, but I need you for this mission and I want you to experience more than just your cove"
I glanced to my side where Chada was now fixing some nets and listening in to our conversation.
Abyss then turned to him and asked "I know you don't know us and seek no involvement with our antics or kind. But I ask can you please help my friend?" Chada was about to respond, I presumed in disent. Abyss continued speaking "it won't be without reward I promise you that. Help us acclimate and transition to land and we can help you in the ways of the water, we can send fish to you, Sarit can find you pearls, I can procure high quality ink. If our careers are successful, we can even generate income"
Now this, seemed to make him stop and ponder on it. I was already glaring at him, but when he looked into my eyes I couldn't help but blush. Gosh dang siren genes I thought to myself.
"Well, you have a deal but I can back out when I wish okay? Tell me what that entails"
Abyss stepped forward to explain. Him surmising the details. We kept trading glances, our cheeks getting redder and redder. I splashed my hands in the water trying to cool my face.
I was too embarrassed to listen in to the full details. I mean I am already familiar with how these things go. I must surely wipe this scum off the earth when we're done so that there is no one left on this planet that has any recollection of such acts with me.
He just nodded with those big pearlescent eyes, I decided to leave and dive into the sea early so I don't have to hear this any further. Diving deeper to cool off my head, even though the pressure hurt more.
