Chapter 14 - Chapter 14- Hatred

Chapter 14- Hatred

Rein knew that 21 points could double his speed of healing, which was ridiculous to even say out loud, let alone do. However, he didn't plan to put everything into healing, as that would be quite stupid and reckless when he needed strength and speed, too. He had to be wise and smart about where to put these points because they can either make him or break him.

'For now, I have 19 points in regeneration. If I add 5 points, that's almost 2.5 times the speed of recovery of a normal person. So, this injury would take a few days to heal instead of two weeks. 'Hmmm…'

Nodding his head, Rein decided to go with that plan. For now, he was going to add 5 points and keep 16 points for other stats, which are equally important.

'Actually, I might as well give 5 points to each stat and keep it balanced. I still don't know which stat is the most important for me.'

Since Rein was a seasoned fighter and a martial artist, he had speed, strength, and endurance. He cannot focus on one singular stat and ignore the rest because it would destroy the balance he has.

'It would be pointless to recklessly try to maximize one and forget the others, even if that means my growth will slow down a bit. It's the better plan in the long run, I think.' He rubbed his chin. After contemplating it for a few moments, he finally nodded and decided to go with that.

Either way, he doesn't have anything to lose; if it doesn't work, he will be able to fix that as he grows stronger.

'Put 5 points in strength, agility, stamina, and regeneration.' He said in his head. Almost instantly, the system reacted.

[20 points have been allocated in strength, stamina, agility, and regeneration.]

The moment Rein saw that, an immense rush of strength filled his body out of nowhere. He felt as if he was floating for a second, and all his pain and discomfort were replaced with an incredibly pleasurable feeling.

Rein's muscles, bones, and everything about him seemed to undergo a change when he used all those points.

'I'm much stronger. I can feel it in my bones.' Rein exhaled as he looked at Violet. She noticed the subtle change and frowned.

"What did you do, Rein?" She asked.

"I made my recovery quicker." He said as he stood up. "Anyway, I'm feeling better."

'The injury is already starting to itch. It has already started the healing process.' He thought to himself. The bleeding has completely stopped, and the injury itself wasn't as painful as before.

"Hmm, you will have to explain everything to me later, ok?"

"Yeah. Well, in any case, there is a lot we need to talk abou-"

"Violet, are you the-"

As Rein was about to speak, they heard a male voice coming from the outside. Hearing that voice, Rein visibly rolled his eyes. 'This is going to be a headache.'

"Yeah, I'm in here." She said.

"Can I come in?"

"Yeah, go ahead." She said as she gave Rein a glance, as if expecting some sort of reaction from him. However, he seemed as stoic as ever, so she felt subtly disappointed.

"I was looking for you outside. I heard there were some newc-" As he spoke, the man walked in, only to freeze mid-way as he stared directly at Teo, then at Rein. His calm look vanished and was replaced with a stunned expression.

"comers…" He continued as he walked in and coldly stared at Rein. "You survived, huh?"

The man who walked in was Alexander Karm. A high-ranking agent in the agency. He is considered to be one of the best in the entire agency with an impressive record and a very influential family.

He was also strikingly handsome with blonde hair and green eyes, giving him a majestic presence that captured the eyes of men and women alike.

"Unfortunately," Rein replied. "Been a while, Alex. How you been?"

"Hm, fine, I guess," Alex said coldly. It was clear that he didn't like Rein whatsoever, and he didn't hide it whatsoever. This has been the case ever since Rein got to know this person. He seemed to harbor some sort of hatred toward him for some reason.

"Anyway, we are going to talk to the General. I wanted you to be there." Alex said as he looked at Violet, his cold glare changing almost instantly.

"Yeah, I will be there. Are you coming, Rein?"

"Mmm, I'm kinda curious what he has to say," Rein replied.

"And who said you're welcome to join?" Alex asked.

"Alex…" Violet was about to stop him before he could say anything else, but Rein was faster than her.

"If a rookie like you is welcome, then surely I am too." Rein winked at him before he walked outside.

"Violet, why is he even here? Wasn't he supposed to be on a mission?" Alex stopped Violet before she could walk out.

"Yeah, he was coming back when everything started."

"... Tsk."

"Hey, I don't want you to start any fights with him. This isn't the time or the place." She said. "Please don't be stupid."

"But…"

"He won't talk to you either. Just leave him alone." She added before she turned around and left the tent.

Standing there, Alex clenched his fist tightly in frustration. 'Why did this bastard even come back? He could've just gone and died somewhere out there. Fuck.' He cursed.

This was incredibly unlucky for him. The fact that this tenacious bastard survived and came back was already annoying enough, but the fact that he found Violet was even worse.

Sighing, Alex looked to the side at Teo, who shuddered visibly.

"I-I'm going outside too."

Then, he stormed out before Alex could say anything.

With that, the group walked through the base, passing the dozens and dozens of soldiers moving around endlessly.

At the same time, more and more soldiers were coming in from the outside, on foot or in their vehicles. The entire base was growing rapidly, and Rein could see it. It was becoming the center of operations for this city as they tried to fight against the invasion.

The situation outside, however, was far from ideal. If anything, judging by their desperate looks and traumatized eyes, Rein could tell that these soldiers weren't able to do anything useful.

Some, however, looked more confused than others as they rushed toward the main tent in the area.

'Hmm, are those…?'

At the same time, the group reached the place where the general was. Walking in, they found him standing around a large table with a map on it. The general was Victor Bell, a seasoned soldier who rose through the ranks after years of service and work.

He was an older man with greyish-black hair and a mustache. He had a rather good build and a strong look on his face as he focused on the map.

"We have lost complete control of the shopping district and the surrounding neighborhoods, sir. Our troops aren't able to penetrate." One soldier said.

"How about trying to try and surround the horde from the other side. Trap them in that area and then kill them with missiles?"

"Sir… Ummm, the horde has separated after the recent strike… They aren't in the same cluster anymore."

"Goddamit! Those bastards did it without asking me. Now we lost even more soldiers, and we didn't kill anywhere near enough of these nasty things!"

"General." Alex stepped forward.

"Hm? Oh, you're here." The man said as he eyed the group.
