Chapter 27: The Pursuit (3)
It was the handkerchief I handed to Abel just before leaving today. The one I just managed to finish this morning….
Hades said to me as I stared at the handkerchief, “It’s not the one you gave Abel.”
“…Huh?”
“On the first day you arrived at the duchy, when we were having a meal together.”
“Meal together?”
“You dropped this in the dining room.”
“Ah!” Surprised, I rubbed my eyes and checked the handkerchief on the table once more.
Indeed, I could tell from how this Abel was missing patches of hair here and there. This was the unfinished handkerchief I lost.
And I was wondering where it went….
‘You had it all along?!’
Hades stared at how flustered I was and continued. “From what I heard from Abel, you were supposedly making this to give it to him.”
“…Yes.”
Hades’ words had an air of interrogation, so I felt quite tense.
“Meaning, you’ve been preparing this in advance even before you came to the North.”
