Chapter 237 - Chapter 237: Cage (EC)

This battle truly plunged heaven and earth into darkness.

Caleb only felt numb.

His body was not lacking energy, and Manaflow Band was still feeding runes into him.

But Caleb simply emptied his mind and looked toward the horizon.

The war was already over, but for Caleb, the war had only just begun.

After all, they had only been dealing with Voidborn trapped beneath the ice, along with two Watchers of the Void.

There had been no Void gate continuously supplying reinforcements, and there had been no Void aura corroding everyone present.

"Caleb..."

A tear-streaked cat face appeared in Caleb's field of vision.

"What's wrong?"

Caleb could not help rubbing Yuumi's head a couple of times. After several days and nights of prolonged fighting, this yordle cat also looked dusty and worn out.

"Those two drakes are about to collapse..."

Yuumi's voice carried a sob, and hearing it made Caleb's heart grow heavy.

Dragons were rare creatures. Aside from Ionia, only Ixtal had some.

But no matter which side it was, neither could bring a dying dragon back to life.

Caleb could not help looking toward Soraka.

"Is there a way to heal them?"

After Soraka nodded, she gently shook her head again.

"What does that mean?"

Caleb raised an eyebrow, feeling that something was not quite right.

If Soraka, as the healing Aspect, had no way to save them, Caleb had no intention of trying to force some miracle.

Besides, Yuumi herself had healing abilities, and their effects were extremely good. She had definitely come to ask Caleb only after failing herself.

"I can keep them alive, but the organs damaged by the Void have suffered irreversible harm."

Soraka continued.

"They need replacements."

"That's not a problem."

Caleb immediately agreed.

First, they could ask Xolaani for help and use blood magic to replace the necrotic organs.

Second, they could use the Twin Cities' method, Glorious Evolution, Mechanical Ascension.

After receiving Caleb's approval, Soraka approached the two drakes, and a celestial blessing descended upon them.

The breathing of the two drakes stopped weakening as well.

Seeing this, Caleb let out a breath of relief.

Xolaani was also very busy. Recently, the Void in Icathia had been increasing, and Caleb had already known about that situation earlier.

So Caleb had Yuumi send the two dragons to the Twin Cities first. The rest could be solved slowly afterward.

"There's something I want you to know."

Sejuani walked over from the distance. The blood and filth on her face had long since become impossible to tell apart.

These things could already be considered "few," yet for Caleb and the others to completely wipe them out, they had still fought for this long.

"Olaf isn't dead yet. He's lying over there. He wants to say a few words to you."

What Sejuani held in her hand was now only the remains of a True Ice weapon, but with Anivia around, she would probably be able to get a new one before long.

"Brother, what a pity. This time, I really felt like I was only one step away from finally dying."

Under Olaf's wet beard, two rows of big teeth showed as he smiled especially brightly.

"You want me to save you a spot in the Void War over there, right?"

Caleb more or less understood his intention. Olaf's road toward seeking death had not ended yet.

"Exactly. So I want to go with you to the Twin Cities for a while. You could say I'm going there to clear my head."

As Olaf said this, Ashe and Sejuani also walked over.

"As a matter of fact, the two of us would also like to go see what this so-called City of Progress really looks like."

"That's not impossible."

Caleb smiled faintly.

If these two Warmothers went to the Twin Cities, maybe two huge orders would land right in Zaun's lap.

When the time came, with the Howling Abyss being so deep, using it for mining would feel pretty damn good.

"This battle reminded me of the Freljord's earliest age!"

Volibear laughed loudly. After all, the Freljord's first river had been formed from the blood he spilled from his enemies.

"Humans have not forgotten their beast nature. That pleases me."

Volibear looked at the two Warmothers with deep meaning, then turned and headed toward the island of the Ursine's territory.

It seemed that from now on, Volibear was going to walk another great road.

"This battle gave me a lot of new inspiration. For me, there are quite a few works that urgently need my refinement."

Ornn's huge hand trembled slightly. The movement was faint, but Caleb could still see it.

A passage opened in the mountain, and Ornn disappeared into it.

"I was not wrong. As humans, you truly will become stronger."

"As time passes, the old paths will eventually decline. The road of you humans may go farther than ours."

Anivia's eyes were filled with hope. This was her expectation for humanity, and in these two Warmothers and Caleb, she saw the possibility of success.

"Send the two Mecha suits back first. Viktor, you go too."

The masterpieces Viktor had brought were almost completely destroyed. Fortunately, Blitzcrank had stayed in Zaun to manage public safety.

As for the threat of the Shadow Isles, Caleb planned to ask around Bilgewater, which had been shrouded by the Black Mist again earlier, assuming there were any survivors there.

"So, how was it, bald man? Are the World Runes good or what?"

Caleb shouted toward Ryze, who was still surrounded by runes.

During the battle, Caleb's Sorcery tree and Domination tree were generally used one at a time. The other one was handed to Ryze so it could cooperate with Glacial Augment and mow down those smaller monsters.

After almost everyone Caleb had brought had left, he called Kai'Sa over and went with Yuumi to the other side of the portal.

The Warmothers still had to reorganize their tribes. Once everything was handled and they had time, they would take a ship to the Twin Cities.

Now that the solid ice on the sea had melted, once the walrus shamans observed calm seas suitable for long voyages, they would naturally visit Caleb.

"Then let's go too."

As Caleb spoke, he brought Yuumi to the other side of the portal.

"Hm?"

What entered his eyes was not the familiar Zaunite scenery, but a pitch-black prison cell.

Caleb lit a beam of light, but in only an instant, the light went out.

A sense of powerlessness covered Caleb's entire body. Kai'Sa and Ryze also collapsed beside him.

Relying on his powerful physique, Caleb forced himself to recall the scene he had seen in that single instant.

It looked very much like the prison cell he had stayed in on the first day he arrived.

From that one small vent, he could tell it was Piltover's style.

"It's over..."

Caleb could not help letting out a long sigh.

Petricite.

It was exactly this thing that was absorbing the magic inside his body. And because the magic in the air was being filtered, even with Manaflow Band, Caleb had no way to break through the cage.

As for filling the petricite to capacity, hahaha, don't make that joke.

Didn't you see that blue-skinned bald man had collapsed too?

The massive amount of magic on Ryze could not withstand a prison cell built with this much petricite. How could Caleb possibly manage it?

"Those nobles finally hardened their hearts and did something big."

The feeling of movement arrived as expected, and Caleb silently closed his eyes.

There was no chance to think about the Void anymore. For now, his own life had truly reached a dead end...
