Chapter 5 - Chapter 05: Marriage with Hidden Knives(5)

"Pardon? Whatever do you mean?"

Therese asked Aijira.

Aijira turned to look at the Golden Throne and narrowed her eyes.

"The rumours about how spoiled the current emperor might be false."

"!"

"We need to change our plans. If we want to cleanse this empire of filth, we must redirect course. Call some of our men, i need all the people i can to establish strongholds and bases inside the Capital."

Aijira ordered as she stood up.

"At once, My lady!"

Aijira nodded her head and started walking.

Therese stared at her for a moment, watching Aijira walk to the door.

"...Where are you going, My Lady?"

Aijira turned to Therese before speaking, "Off to find my soon to be husband."

Malik stretched his arms wide into an arc, finishing his hours of research. Exiting his research room, he walked back to his room.

Though the reading he discovered back then was still looming in his mind.

Unfortune-Fortunate Blessing. It means that i am at a crossroad, i either choose a road filled with fortune or be cursed with bad luck.

Malik clicked his tongue in annoyance.

He started thinking, from where will that crossroad appear? Would it happen in the near future, or had it already arrived?

Malik didn't know.

Doubts started creeping in his mind as he tried to make sense of everything.

The stars aligned exactly before his vassals had spoken about the usage of the Royal Edict Tablet by the Duchess of Falkncast, to marry him.

Marry him.

MARRY HIM.

Malik sat down on the chair of his room and looked out of the window, rows upon rows of documents littered the room, countless things were thrown in the floor, objects.

His eyes narrowed into a slit, "...Maybe she's not right in the head...?"

Covering his mouth with his palm, Malik muttered softly. Then he shook his head and started massaging his glabbela.

I mean, yes, the most probable reason as to why she wants to marry me should be because of the influence and power that being one of the Royal Family have. After all, who in their right mind would want to marry an Emperor that was rumoured to be some kind of tyrant war criminal if not for power and influence?

Clicking his tongue, Malik stood up and looked outside.

If she ever tries to change the policies i made to stabilize the entire Empire long term... No, if she's as much of a genius as in the rumours, she would immediately see through my plans and depending on where she stands, she might try to destabilize the Empire...

But here's the kicker, according to whatever information i gathered of her and the entire Falkncast territory, she's one of those people with the severe case of ending people that harms those who pledge their loyalty to her.

Becoming the Empress will give her enough power and influence to change some policies and laws to better help the citizens of the Empire...

His eyes narrowed into a slit, then he heard a knock on the door. Looking at the door, Malik slowly went to his chair and sat down lazily, not minding the mountains of documents littered on the floor.

"Enter."

There's a high chance she wouldn't touch the policies i made if she's smart, but if she does....

"Good afternoon, your imperial highness." Aijira entered the room with a graceful bow.

....I might need to erase her from existence.

Malik thought within as he watched Aijira slowly sit infront of him.

"Why have you come?"

Malik gave her a glance as Aijira, her head still bowed, spoke.

"I need your permission to hold a meeting with the vassals."

Malik's eyes instantly narrowed, though he didn't let her realize that. Unknown to Malik, Aijira's superhuman senses had caught his tiny reaction.

Finally, a small reaction from this ice block.

Aijira chuckled within and continued, "You have given me the right to decide our wedding date. I would like to discuss with the vassals as to when is the most appropriate time to hold it. Also, i would like to consolidate my position to the vassals."

Malik stared at her for a moment, before nodding his head, "You may."

Then he turned his head around and held out his hand from behind the sofa, a small piece of paper floated into his hands.

Aijira took note of what had happened.

Malik grabbed a pen from the table and gave it a thought for a moment, before writing down what Aijira had asked of him. Seeing the ink dry, he grabbed his stamp and stamped the document before he pushed the paper to her side.

"Let Redrick read this and he'll get everything ready." Aijira grabbed the document, read it and was pleasantly surprise that the so called spoiled Emperor was able to write something like this with perfect details.

Aijira nodded her head and stood up, bowing down to the Emperor. "I am honored to accept your words."

Malik stared at her, before nodding his head.

Aijira then bent down and made a curt bow, "That is all i ask, your imperial highness. If you could excuse me."

Malik swiped his hand infront of her and Aijira turned her heels around, the document in her hands. But before she could step out of the room, Malik's voice sounded out from behind her.

"Do you need me to come with you?"

Since when-

Like, literally behind her, she could feel his breath on her neck. His tall body towering over her from behind.

Aijira flinched from the unexpected situation but didn't let her composure break, she turned around and bowed down again, "I do not dare to let the Emperor's time be used up from something as mundane as this."

"..."

Aijira smiled deeply at him with closed eyes.

Malik stared at her for a moment, before nodding his head. "I see."

He turned around before stopping, "Be careful in the halls."

He warned her and the door closed on it's own. Aijira stared at the door for a moment, before turning to the hallway and narrowed her eyes.

Was that a threat?

Aijira pushed her senses to the limit but couldn't find anything that was dangerous. Confused, Aijira walked the halls alert.

Then she bumped into someone.
