Episode 32: Shadows of the Morningstar
February 10, 6078 – Willowbrook High School
The hallways felt haunted.
Kevin Leister walked beside Wyatt Freeman, both trying to act normal. Lockers slammed. Students laughed too loudly. But the empty desk where Bangu used to sit was a constant wound.
"Still no word?" Wyatt asked quietly.
Kevin shook his head. The Mythical Matrix pulsed faintly beneath his hoodie. "Nothing. It's like he vanished into thin air."
In the distance, Ace — the hyena-like Wrathborn with insane flexibility — moved through the crowd like liquid, pretending to be a new transfer student. Rona lounged against a locker, flirting shamelessly with anyone who looked his way, while subtly gathering information. Cryogenesis kept the temperature in certain rooms unnaturally cold, watching for threats.
The Guardians of Destiny Society had embedded several members into Willowbrook to investigate the strange occurrences: missing students, dead teachers, and symbols that looked suspiciously like Morningstar Clan runes.
Guardians Headquarters – Zimbabwe
Sasha Moya stood before Nathan's statue, snow dusting its shoulders. Garcia Fernandez approached, his razor claws retracted.
"He'd be proud of what we're building," Garcia said.
Sasha's voice cracked. "He died saving all of us. I won't let it be for nothing."
Gillan Dahmer worked in the research wing, repurposing old Pillar tech. Derek Crosley sat nearby, constantly dizzy, his nervous system fried. He could no longer generate electricity, but he remained the team's best electrician and strategist. Ferrum — now a silent Iron Sentinel — stood guard outside, a towering metal protector who had sacrificed his humanity.
Hidden Morningstar Outpost – Unknown Location
Lucifer Morningstar sat on a throne of blackened bone and gold, his burned skin partially healed by hellfire. His horns curved elegantly, and his eyes burned with cold fury.
Mammon counted stolen Glimmer artifacts. "The clan is moving again. They sense the Rampager's power."
Lucifer smiled bitterly. "Good. Let them come. Ten years of planning ends soon."
Satan, one-legged but still terrifying, grinned beside him. Vera lounged on a couch, Rona absent — having chosen the mortal world with Peter.
Willowbrook – After School
Kevin and Wyatt were walking home when the ground shook.
A portal tore open in the middle of the street. Out stepped a tall, angelic figure with pure white wings — Michael Morningstar, Lord of Heaven.
He looked at Kevin with deep sorrow.
"You carry a power that could either save or doom this world, Rampager," Michael said, voice gentle yet commanding. "My brother walks a dark path. I have watched from Heaven… and I fear the Morningstar Clan is preparing to drag both Heaven and Hell into this war."
Before Kevin could respond, a second rift opened. A demonic scout emerged, only to be cut down by a spinning kick from Ace, who had followed them.
Wyatt gripped his crowbar. "We're not doing this alone anymore."
Kevin's eyes glowed white-blue. "Tell your brother… if he wants war, he'll get the Rampager."
Michael nodded sadly and vanished.
Later That Night – Guardians Headquarters
The full council gathered.
Nathan's empty chair remained as a reminder. Sasha spoke first.
"We have new allies from Hell. Rona has already proven himself. Cryogenesis controls the battlefield. Garcia and Gillan bring insider knowledge. Ace gives us speed and unpredictability."
Derek, leaning on a cane, added weakly, "We're tracking strange energy signatures near Willowbrook. It matches Morningstar tech."
Ferrum stood silent and imposing, his metallic form reflecting the lights.
Kevin stepped forward, the Matrix glowing.
"Nathan sacrificed everything so we could keep fighting. Bangu is still out there somewhere. We don't stop. We don't break. We honor them by winning."
The room echoed with determination.
But in the shadows of a distant realm, Lucifer Morningstar opened his eyes.
"Soon, brother," he whispered. "Soon we burn it all down."
