Master Jian led Lu Kai through the bustling corridors of the Dragon Roar Academy, the overwhelming scale of the place slowly giving way to a more focused atmosphere. "This way, Lu Kai. Today is the awakening ceremony for newcomers. It's where you'll discover your elemental affinity and class."
They arrived at a vast chamber, dominated by a colossal, shimmering crystal that pulsed with latent energy. Behind it, a giant holographic screen flickered, ready to display the results. Fifty fresh faces, like Lu Kai's, lined up, a mixture of nervous anticipation and awe etched on their features. One by one, they placed their hands on a smooth, tablet-like surface connected to the crystal.
The screen lit up with a cascade of names and their awakenings:
* **Rank: S-Class** - Elemental Affinity: Thunder.
* **Rank: S-Class** - Elemental Affinity: Gravitational.
* **Rank: S-Class** - Elemental Affinity: Scorch Fire.
A hush fell over the room as the next name was called. Lu Kai stepped forward, his heart pounding with a mixture of dread and a sliver of hope. He placed his hand on the tablet. The crystal hummed, then flashed a pale, almost ethereal light.
The screen displayed:
* **Rank: F-Class** - Elemental Affinity: Platinum.
A wave of jeering erupted from the other newcomers. "Platinum? What's that?" "Trash!" "He's F-Class!" The academy instructors, their faces a mask of disdain, muttered amongst themselves, "Platinum type? Never seen that before. What abilities could it possibly have?"
Lu Kai felt a familiar sting of humiliation, but before the scorn could fully engulf him, Master Jian stepped forward, his presence commanding attention. **"Lu Kai's awakening is F-Class, yes,"** he announced, his voice resonating with authority. **"But I have my reasons for taking him under my wing. If any instructor or student has 'issues' with this,"** he declared, his gaze sweeping across the room, **"they can take it up with me. I will teach him personally."** He then addressed the stunned newcomers. "Listen closely. In three months, all accepted students will face a massive challenge: tournaments. Both solo and group competitions. Prepare yourselves, and begin forming your teams. Now, go with your assigned teachers for your first lessons."
Just as Lu Kai was about to follow Master Jian, a woman with an air of calm competence approached them. It was Teacher Niexi. And beside her, her expression a mixture of cautious curiosity and shy recognition, stood Lu Er.
Lu Kai's breath hitched. His sister! She looked well, her features sharper, her demeanor more confident than he remembered. A wave of relief washed over him. "Thank you, Teacher Niexi," he managed, his voice thick with emotion. "Thank you for taking care of her."
Niexi smiled warmly. "She has a strong spirit. Master Jian," she said, turning to him, "I overheard. Lu Kai's awakening is... unusual. If you're willing, I'd like to offer him a place in my class. He could train alongside his sister, and you mentioned group tournaments? My class is forming a group. We already have four students, including your sister. If Lu Kai joins, we'll be complete. Are you in?"
Lu Kai looked at Lu Er, who offered him a small, hopeful smile. A chance to be with his sister, to learn under a recognized teacher, and to form a team for tournaments – it was more than he could have asked for. "Yes," he said, his voice firm. "I accept."
Niexi beamed. "Wonderful! Then follow me, Lu Kai. Welcome to your first lesson." She led him away, gesturing to a personal classroom area. "Each of our fifty teachers has their own dedicated space. This," she said, opening the door to a well-equipped room, "is mine."
