Chapter 16 - Temporary Escape

Seeing Elio speed up his own death in such a confusing way made Michael really confused.

In his opinion, getting sliced in half like that meant death sooner or later, so why the hell did he have to throw himself into that terrifying sword aura? Was it really worth going that far to help his teammates?

For a moment he genuinely didn't know whether to give Elio the title of "Boss of The Year" or "Idiot of The Year".

Honestly, he really respected Elio's spirit of sacrificing for his teammates. That kind of spirit made him admire the guy. But the action was kinda stupid, that's what he truly felt.

He even started to wonder if Elio was the leader not because he was the strongest but because he had this reckless, no-holds-barred attitude of risking his life for his subordinates.

But right then he noticed something really strange. None of the four people had any special reaction to Elio getting blown apart. His teammates didn't show any grief, the enemy didn't show any relief. This weird atmosphere instantly made Michael's thoughts shift.

"Nice one, turns out it's some skill that doesn't play by the rules. That guy isn't dead, at most he's just seriously hurt."

Michael once again had to clap in appreciation. This fight was fucking dramatic. Watching this battle was more intense than all the movies he'd watched in his entire life combined. The reason this fight scored absolute points was because of the realistic effects and the fact that it wasn't staged.

Suddenly he felt there was a big problem concerning time. The attack speed of all five of them was extremely fast, so why did he have time to ramble and still keep up with the pace of the fight?

"System, there's something off with the time in the magic lamp, right?"

[Correct. Here, the flow of time adjusts automatically and can even pause to give you the best experience. Of course, this only applies when you are not in a penalty period.]

Receiving the system's answer, Michael couldn't even be bothered to be surprised anymore. He'd been surprised so many times lately. His emotions were pretty much numb now. Besides, by the time he asked, he'd already guessed the outcome.

He continued staring at the battle. Even though he said Elio was still alive, right now there was no sign proving Elio was okay.

Glacior and Ignivar, forced by the situation, had no choice but to forcibly break their fusion technique. The two of them then both spat out a mouthful of blood but didn't slow down in using another technique.

Second Technique - Eternal Frost Barrier!

Third Technique - Hellfire Aegis!

Extreme cold energy gathered in Glacior's hands. He swung his arms to create an extremely thick ice wall in front of the two of them. Over time, the wall kept getting thicker, but the speed of thickening still wasn't faster than the speed at which the sword aura was destroying it.

Ignivar created a huge amount of lava on top of the blazing hellfire. That lava stuck onto his body, forming an extremely sturdy armor.

Since Glacior had reduced the attack power of that sword aura by a lot, Ignivar was confident enough to charge forward and throw a full-power punch at the sword aura.

The two sides kept struggling, Glacior also went all out to support. While they weren't paying attention, Rias had opened a teleportation gate and moved all three of them near the river forty miles away.

By the time the sword aura was destroyed, Ignivar spat out another mouthful of blood, his arm pretty badly injured after trying to withstand the sword aura just now.

"They teleported away again."

Noticing the three people they were chasing had disappeared, Glacior just said a sentence lightly without any big reaction. It wasn't for nothing that the three of them had been chasing these two for over a month with no results.

The specks of golden fire in the air now gathered together to regenerate Elio's body that had been destroyed. His complexion now was noticeably paler, so clearly this wasn't some invincible technique either.

"My technique can lock onto several targets. As long as Rias and Raphael aren't more than a hundred miles away from me, I can still track them. Right now they're only forty miles away. We can still chase them."

Elio said while breathing heavily. Clearly he was a being called a demigod, with strength that could shatter mountains, but now he was struggling to this extent. To be more precise, for the past month he had been struggling, recovering a bit, then continuing to struggle.

Before, there were some things he could eat to quickly recover energy, but now they were all used up, so he could only wait for natural recovery. This war of attrition had exhausted him too much, but there was nothing else he could do.

"Next time will be the last time. Based on my calculations, their remaining energy won't last much longer. Unless they have the same insane luck as that person, it'll be hard for them to survive."

Ignivar, despite his whole body being injured now, still asserted confidently. Energy in this world can be clearly calculated for each level. Fighting above your level one-on-one is impossible unless you set a trap and play dirty.

The three of them not only had higher levels but also had numbers on their side, and they brought more 'food' too, so from the start they knew they would win. The question was just how high the price to pay would be and how long it would take.

"Who in this world can compare to that person? That existence is way too unreasonable. If he weren't human, I'd think he was Luck God. Before meeting him, I didn't believe there was anyone in this world who could turn their own energy into luck."

Elio immediately shook his head when Ignivar mentioned that person. There was no way Raphael and Rias could have luck like that person's.

That person's luck was so heaven-defying that at just fifty years old, he had reached level ninety-nine. He smashed the record for reaching max level in the past tens of thousands of years. Perhaps the Sun God or the Sea God didn't reach that level as fast as him.

If counting normal training without eating any 'treasures', even a top-tier genius would need to work hard without missing a single day until one hundred and eighty-five years old to reach this level.
