Chapter 21 - Goodbye, Rias

Getting scolded again made Elio feel really wronged. He didn't have any bad intentions. He just wanted to increase the chances of saving his friend.

He himself knew the risks in this were huge. If he got exposed, he might get dragged into dying too because his father wouldn't let him off.

If Raphael could be saved, he'd also think of a way to save him. But saying Raphael wasn't Gabriel's biological son, no one would believe it because the two looked very alike and everyone had known about this for decades.

He'd even considered finding a path for Rias to go somewhere remote and live in hiding. Normally, if you did that, it was nearly impossible to find the person.

Even if they were found, it would take at least a few decades. But unfortunately, at The Great Sun Temple, there was an existence that didn't follow normal logic.

That guy could boost his own luck to the point where he could do anything except become a god. Of course, the prerequisite was that he had to want to do it. If you forced him to do something, aside from bringing bad luck to yourself, you wouldn't get anything good out of it.

That person was currently out chasing Gabriel, but there was a huge problem: that guy was very lazy and liked wandering around aimlessly. Besides his loyalty to The Great Sun Temple, he seemed to have no notable strengths.

Of course, he could be lazy, but if The Great Sun Temple needed him, he'd still help. If it weren't for that, he would've been fired long ago.

But he might not do it immediately, dragging it out for ten or twenty years if he felt it wasn't an extremely urgent matter.

Normally, out of ten meetings, he'd be absent for nine point five of them, so no one could assign him any administrative duties.

That person, Rias and Raphael knew him too, even if they didn't interact much. Honestly, everyone at The Great Sun Temple was hesitant to interact with him much.

That's why she thought that her exposure was just a matter of time. Twenty years at most, and if she were unlucky, she'd be discovered right from the start.

"I meant well. Scolding me like that makes me sad."

Elio pouted like a kid throwing a tantrum. But his age… he was old enough to be a grandfather to kids. He just looked young, but both he and Raphael were nearly sixty. It was just that cultivation and other work took up so much time they got married late.

Both Glacior and Ignivar couldn't help but silently praise Elio in their hearts. With Elio taking on so much, the damage on them later would be significantly reduced.

"Don't worry. Since you're so enthusiastic, later your 'gift' will be twice that of those two combined."

Rias spat out a firm statement that made Elio's face turn pale. Clearly, among the three, he had the lowest level, yet he was singled out to take double the damage. This world was truly too unfair to him. What had he done wrong?

Ignivar and Glacior, standing behind Elio, didn't care about his feelings at all. As soon as they heard her confirmation, they high-fived in celebration, making Elio's face even darker.

"Hahahaha, you're truly a genius. I don't think there's ever been a temple master like you, and there won't be one later either. Telling your good friend to go die while you take your friend's wife as a concubine and take care of the kid for him… Hahaha, this guy really dares to say anything."

Michael held his stomach laughing, spittle flying everywhere. If anyone saw him now, they definitely wouldn't believe he was a genie because this behavior was too undignified.

But this couldn't be blamed on him. Elio's brain had truly left him in awe. He figured this was a side effect from taking a sword aura to the head.

"If I get a chance later, I'll have to go find him for an autograph. Making me laugh like this, not meeting you for an autograph just wouldn't be right."

Raphael had arrived at the designated spot for a while but still saw no sign of Rias using an ultimate technique. Consequently, he felt deeply uneasy, afraid that her situation had gone wrong.

"Damn it, did it fail completely?"

Looking toward Elio's direction, he saw they weren't using any techniques. Clearly, they were talking to her, their attitudes relatively relaxed, but they were too far away to hear what they were saying.

If he still didn't understand anything after seeing this, then he hadn't considered Elio a friend for the past few decades. Although exhausted, he still had to curl his lips into a smile, even if Elio probably wouldn't notice.

"Thank you."

The chance for them to survive had increased significantly. Elio was exactly as Rias had said before, he would consider their years of friendship and give them a chance to live.

But later, he definitely wouldn't let Raphael leave easily either, so they had to deal with it seriously, no joking around.

Although Michael was laughing heartily, he was very attentive to each of their actions. The relationship between these five people was clearly good but also incredibly complicated.

"The responsibility at the peak of power is heavy. Sitting in those positions, you can't just do whatever you want… If I can, I'd rather be a carefree genie who travels around."

Of course, this was the wish of an extremely lazy guy who had stayed cooped up at home for ten years. He wasn't just lazy about work. He was lazy about going out, lazy about eating, lazy about drinking, and lazy about going out to play. Even watching videos for fun, sometimes he was too lazy to bother.

The only exception was learning more knowledge that interested him. Then he wouldn't be lazy. If in the future he changed, naturally he wouldn't have this kind of wish anymore.

Rias felt that talking a bit like this was enough. This matter should end now. Anyway, she was tired now. Dying a little sooner might even be more comfortable.

Thinking about Leo, only a few months old, no longer having a mother to nurse from, she could only sigh. But it wasn't a big problem. If the two of them were still alive, Raphael was more than capable of stealing milk for Leo.

"Let's end this. At least dying by your hands isn't too bad."

"Goodbye, Rias."

All three nodded simultaneously in response, then the aura from their bodies burst out once more. The joking demeanor from before was nowhere to be seen.
