Chapter 19 - Pretending to Surrender

They were demigods who had been through many upheavals in life, but now all three of them didn't understand what the hell Rias was really trying to do. By common sense, she definitely wouldn't surrender.

There were no similar situations among the many scenarios they had guessed beforehand, so they were a bit confused.

This battle forced someone to die, so surrendering would just mean dying faster. With the mindset of a normal person, you couldn't even think of surrendering.

"What the hell are you two planning to do?"

Aside from asking them directly, Elio really couldn't guess anymore. The clues were too few, he needed more information to deduce.

Raphael, for his part, had become extremely reliable and acted exactly according to plan. He carried Leo and stood before her, his posture serious but his expression showing clear resignation.

"You guys can also tell we don't have much energy left. Like you said, make it quick and save time for both sides. You can kill us two, but Leo has to have a chance to live."

???

In this situation, what were the three of them supposed to say? This good fortune was way too sudden. They didn't know how to process it for a moment.

Although killing Rias and Raphael wouldn't exactly make them happy, they still had to kill them. Between killing people wearily over a long time and quickly finishing this to go back and deal with the mess Gabriel caused, any of them would choose the latter.

But thinking it over, Raphael's proposal wasn't that great either. Although Leo was a kid who hadn't undergone education and could be considered harmless, if he had high talent, it would be very dangerous.

Gabriel had a lot of lifespan left, more than enough to train Leo into a demigod. If he went back to The Great Sun Temple to take Leo away and then indoctrinate him with thoughts of revenge, then that 'fun' situation would be a huge one.

"I can't guarantee he stays alive unless The Great Sun Temple successfully kills Gabriel."

If possible, Elio still wanted to spare the kid. After all, he really wasn't at fault. The most important reason was that he didn't know anything right now.

If they had trained him from a young age, he wouldn't have a hostile attitude toward The Great Sun Temple. But the current situation was what would decide whether the kid got a chance to live or not.

Seeing Elio talk like this, no one was surprised. When he spoke like this, it was definitely sincere. But if they agreed right away, ninety-nine percent of the time it would be a lie.

"I'm not done yet. What's the hurry?"

Seeing Raphael remain this calm made Elio frown slightly. They'd known each other for decades, so Raphael definitely understood him well. If he was this confident, then the condition was definitely something he could accept.

"Oh, let's hear it. If it's nothing too outrageous, I'll agree. Don't think about stalling for time. A few minutes won't recover much."

As for stalling the enemy to buy time, none of the three of them were worried about that. If they sat down and talked for a few hours, maybe they'd recover a bit, but a few minutes was nothing compared to a demigod's total energy.

"See that river over there? I'll take Leo and throw him in there. Whether he lives or dies will be up to fate. That way, you probably won't have any objections, right?"

From their current height, the three could see a large river about fifteen miles away. Its flow was as strong as a flash flood. For a strong enough contractor, it was no problem, but for a normal person, it meant certain death.

???

The three of them stared at each other with wide eyes, but the only common point was that none could hide their bewilderment. This request was even more absurd than all their guesses combined.

They were the pinnacle of power in the world, the relationship between their children and themselves was indeed different from that of ordinary people. Offspring were political tools for the previous generation. That was very normal.

But being cruel enough to actively push their own newborn son toward death like this was something they were seeing for the first time.

"I get it. He's not your biological son, is he? If Rias happened to do something wrong, I think keeping this kid isn't an issue. As long as he's not from the Demiurgos families, those other problems don't concern him."

For some reason, Elio's brain suddenly seemed to lack a screw as he blurted out a few sentences that made people want to explode with anger.

Both Rias's and Raphael's eyelids twitched uncontrollably. If they weren't out of strength, they'd definitely have to go for another round.

"Are you insane? Elio, have you been temple master too long that your brain's gone bad? Who taught you to talk like this?"

But not fighting didn't mean they weren't going to curse. If Raphael didn't curse Elio out to his face, he wouldn't be able to swallow his anger. How dare he falsely accuse his wife in broad daylight like that? It was truly infuriating.

Glacior and Ignivar turned their faces away as if they didn't want to acknowledge Elio as someone they knew. They had to admit his way of speaking was really stupid.

They even slightly suspected Elio ended up like this because he had used his head to block the sword aura earlier.

"Ha ha ha ha, so demigods can spout nonsense like this too? I thought only young people talked without thinking like that."

Michael was thoroughly entertained, laughing uncontrollably. Every single person in this group he found extremely interesting.

They were clearly fighting to the death yet still had the energy to joke like this. Truly, demigods were different from mortals.

Since Raphael had already cursed for her, Rias didn't curse. She just glared fiercely at Elio, making him feel a bit guilty. If it weren't for the fact that the situation demanded serious combat, he normally was a little 'scared' of her.

"Ahem, ahem, I misspoke. This request isn't too excessive. Go ahead and throw the kid in the river, then come back here…"

Elio had originally wanted to clear his throat and brush it off, but at this moment, his brain had smartened up again.
