Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: The Storm Breaks

The world held its breath.

For a single moment—

Everything stopped.

The storm above.

The hunters below.

Even the air itself seemed frozen between two forces.

Elian.

And the thing that took everything from him.

Kael stood beside him now.

For the first time—

Not watching.

Not testing.

Fighting.

"…don't fall behind," Kael said calmly.

Elian let out a breath.

"…just don't slow me down."

A faint smirk.

Then—

They moved.

The creature reacted instantly.

The sky collapsed inward once more, forming a massive spiral of crushing force aimed directly at them.

"Left," Kael said.

Elian moved before thinking.

The attack missed—

No.

It was guided.

The air twisted unnaturally, bending the force away from them like it was being controlled from both sides.

Elian's eyes widened.

"…you're controlling it too?!"

"Not controlling," Kael replied.

"Interrupting."

They split apart.

Kael stepped forward—

Everything around him went still.

Completely still.

The storm slowed.

The creature hesitated.

For the first time—

It couldn't move freely.

"Elian," Kael said.

"…now."

No hesitation.

Elian stepped forward.

The wind roared back to life.

Not wild.

Not chaotic.

But focused.

Every movement.

Every breath.

Every shift in the air—

He felt it.

He understood it.

The creature struggled.

Its form flickering as Kael's stillness clashed against Elian's movement.

Two opposites.

One force.

Elian raised his hand.

The wind gathered.

Not around him—

But through him.

"I'm not running anymore…" he said quietly.

The creature roared—

a soundless, crushing force exploding outward—

But Elian didn't stop.

He stepped forward again.

"…and I'm not losing again."

The wind surged violently.

A massive current of compressed air formed in his palm—

Sharper.

Denser.

Stronger.

Kael's voice cut through—

"Release it."

Elian did.

BOOM.

The attack shot forward like a piercing storm, cutting through the air and striking the creature directly.

The impact shook the entire sky.

The creature's form shattered—

Fragments of darkness breaking apart, dissolving into the air.

But it wasn't enough.

It reformed.

Weaker—

But still there.

"…it's not dying…" Elian said, breathing heavily.

Kael stepped forward.

"…because you're still holding back."

Elian froze.

"…what?"

The wind whispered—

"Elian…"

"…you are not just guiding us…"

A pause.

"…you are part of us."

Something inside him clicked.

Not outside.

Not above.

Inside.

The wind wasn't separate.

It never was.

Elian closed his eyes.

For a brief moment—

He let go.

Of fear.

Of doubt.

Of everything.

Then—

He stepped forward.

The air exploded.

Not outward—

But upward.

The sky itself reacted.

The storm twisted violently—

Then—

It answered him.

Elian's eyes opened.

"…this ends now."

The wind roared louder than ever before.

Not chaotic.

But absolute.

He raised his hand—

And the storm followed.

A massive surge of wind shot upward, colliding with the creature and tearing through its form completely.

This time—

It didn't reform.

The sky cracked.

The darkness dissolved.

And the storm—

Finally—

Broke.

Silence.

The clouds began to clear.

The pressure lifted.

The air… returned.

Elian stood there, breathing heavily.

"…is it over…?"

Kael looked up.

"…for now."

Lyra slowly stood in the distance.

"…you actually did it…"

The wind circled Elian gently.

"…you did more than that…"

He looked up at the sky.

Clear.

Calm.

But deep down—

He knew.

This wasn't the end.

Only the beginning.
