Jay pov
The next morning I walked back to class. Another day, another round of dealing with people I didn't want to see, or maybe- ok, definitely- someone who wasn't exactly an eyesore to see- LALALA .
I wasn't talking about Kiefer. Nope. Erase, erase. Abort the thought, what's wrong with you jay? Get a grip.
And what I saw in the class stopped me in my tracks- completely. Standing there among an army full of assholes, was my best friend- Luna.
"Missed me jay?" She asked.
I lost it then. I squeeled, completely forgetting all my dignity- and the assholes staring at us totally confused- and ran straight to her. I hugged her, and she hugged me back so tight I thought I might choke.
Let me explain- Luna Watson was my best friend since childhood. Her mom, Serina, was my papa's and mama reycee's best friend. Untill she died a few years back mysteriously- not so much though, because I knew it had something to do with her father.
It seems her elder brother had been taking care of them. Them in the sense her, and her little brothers Kieren and kiegan. Honestly, respect. I knew how hard it is to take care of people all by yourself. I've been there.
"Luna? What are you doing here? You're supposed to be a year younger than me." I said, though wasn't exactly complaining.
She giggled. "Please, as if! I'm such a big genius that they bumped me up a year."
"But why this section? Unless you already knew I was here, which is impossible." I asked curiously.
"Oh. That's because my elder brother is in this section. I didn't know you'd be here until today morning." She replied
Curiosity prickled through me. THE elder brother? The one she talks about all the time on phone? Where was he and why didn't he come all these days?
You see, only aunt Serina and Luna used to come whenever they visited, so I haven't really met her brothers. Then I had move to live with my mother Jeana Fernandez after the 'accident' which took our parents. It's the reason me, Jare, and Percy got separated. Percy went to his biological mother's house, I had to go to mine, and Jare had to go to London to fight for our company- anonymously. We had faked our death too.
(A/N: Guys so the poor guy, Percy, had to fake his death twice😭)
" Who is it? Introduce your brother to me."
" Ah.. but I think you've already met him- more than once"
I was getting confused now. Then I saw it, behind her kiefers eyes widening as he watched the exchange, his face going from his usual annoyed expression to undeniable shock.
"Wait a minute. YOU'RE the best friend she's can't shut up about?" He asked, his voice filled with pure disbelief.
My jaw dropped. Like literally.
"And YOU'RE the down to earth elder brother she keeps dawdling on about?" I asked, sounding equally exasperated.
"Great! Since you two have aldredy met dinner at our house today! I want to introduce you to my younger brothers." Luna said, either completely missing the tension brewing or just not caring about it. And knowing her? It's probably the second one.
"Sorry Luna, I can't come" I said immediately, remembering about that meeting with the merger. And the mission that followed. I was packed today.
Her face fell. Literally. Like full blown puppy-dog-eyes-and-sad-pouting-face kinda fell.
Kiefer noticed it at once and sighed.
"Look, If this is about me, I don't have a problem with you coming if it means this much to my sister." He said, facing me. I was kinda starting to get why she praised him a lot. He clearly loved his sister a lot.
Honestly though, this guys so full of himself. As if I'd sacrifice our life long friendship just because I came to know he's her brother.
"I appreciate the sincerity, but I honestly have an important work to do today. Maybe some other day?" I replied.
"Ok then! Some other day. We'll plan it later on. Right now, we have a LOT to catch up on." She said, brightening up a little.
"We literally talk to each other everyday in phone." I said, though I was equally excited to see her. Sure, we text and video call, but it's not the same as seeing each other in person.
"Not the same girl." She said, sitting right beside me as the teacher entered. Great now I was sitting right next to Kiefer AND his sister-i mean- my best friend.
This should be good. And by good I mean absolutely chaotic - I thought to myself as I saw the king of assholes sneaking glances at me as if I was some puzzle to be solved, and as Luna started talking animatedly about a dream she had.
