The house had settled into a rhythm.
Not comfortable.
But no longer unfamiliar.
Alicia walked into the studio early that morning, her sketchbook already in hand.
She didn't hesitate anymore.
Didn't pause at the door.
This space was hers now.
Downstairs, James Whitmore supervised the morning routine.
"Everything should remain on schedule," he instructed calmly.
"Yes, sir," Maria replied.
Lina nodded, moving quickly.
The house moved like a system.
Organized. Precise.
Outside the gates
A black car sat quietly across the street.
Unmoving.
Unnoticed.
Inside, a man watched.
Patient.
Silent.
He didn't step out.
Didn't move closer.
He simply observed.
The gates.
The guards.
The routines.
And occasionally…
The woman who stepped into the garden alone.
Alicia.
Inside the house, none of it was known.
Late morning, Alicia stepped outside briefly, holding her sketchbook.
The fresh air helped her think.
She sat near the garden, flipping through pages.
Adjusting. Improving.
Focused.
From the upstairs window
Michael noticed.
Just for a moment.
Then went back to his call.
Inside the car across the street
The man leaned forward slightly.
Watching the same scene.
Studying.
Noticing patterns.
"She goes out alone," he murmured quietly.
A small detail.
But important.
Back inside
"You're staring again."
Michael didn't turn.
"I'm not."
Daniel Reyes stood nearby, holding a file.
"You've looked out that window three times in the last five minutes."
A pause.
Then Michael turned slightly.
"What do you want, Daniel?"
Daniel didn't react.
"The report you asked for."
He placed it on the desk.
But his eyes briefly flicked toward the window
Observing.
Just like always
Downstairs, Sophie dropped onto the couch dramatically.
"This house is too quiet sometimes."
"You talk enough to fix that," Adrian replied calmly.
She shot him a look.
"Do you ever say anything useful?"
"Yes."
"When?"
"Just now."
Alicia walked in, smiling faintly.
"You two haven't stopped, have you?"
"He started it," Sophie said.
"I didn't," Adrian replied.
"You exist. That's enough."
Alicia laughed softly again.
But her attention shifted
Michael had just entered the room.
For a second…
Their eyes met.
"You were outside," he said.
"Yes."
"Alone?"
Alicia raised an eyebrow.
"Yes."
A pause.
"You shouldn't be."
The words came out naturally.
Firm.
Protective.
Alicia blinked slightly.
"I was just in the garden."
"That doesn't change anything."
A small silence followed.
Sophie glanced between them.
Adrian watched carefully.
Daniel, standing near the door, noticed everything.
Alicia crossed her arms slightly.
"I can take care of myself."
Michael held her gaze.
"I'm aware."
A pause.
"Then what's the problem?"
Another pause.
Short.
But meaningful.
"There isn't one," he said finally.
But his tone said otherwise.
Alicia didn't respond.
But something about that moment…
Stayed with her.
Outside
The man in the car leaned back again.
A faint smile touched his lips.
"Not distant," he murmured.
"Not close."
His fingers tapped lightly against the armrest.
Thinking.
Calculating.
"Just enough," he added quietly.
Inside the house, everything continued as normal.
Unaware.
Unseen.
But slowly…
Carefully…
Someone was beginning to understand exactly where to look.
