Chapter 3 - "Made the house go bankrupt"

[Were you in the military in your past life?]

My system decided to ask me in the middle of my bath after five days of walking alone without it speaking, and honestly, I didn't miss talking to it at all, every time it speaks it reminds me of the rotten luck behind my current situation.

- ...No, I wasn't, at least not entirely.

I replied sounding mildly uninterested, It's not like my past life was particularly interesting, It was fun sure, but not interesting.

[I apologize if that question hurts you or If remembering your past is painful.]

Seriously I don't understand what the creator of this system was thinking when they gave it so much empathy, did he forget I don't need that? Or was this system never meant for me and by pure bad luck it ended up linked to me?

- It doesn't hurt to remember my past, It's just... boring.

I said, deciding to finish my bath.

[Then why do you have such a military-like training doctrine?]

Again with the military thing, If it really wants to talk, it could at least pick something more interesting.

- I was simply someone obsessed with information, after all information is the most important thing you need when killing a target as a sniper.

[So you were a mercenary?]

Heh... Mercenary? They were the ones who gave me the title of sniper.

- You could say that.

I answered deciding to end the conversation, I wasn't interested in telling my past to something that could betray me at the moment his creator find it funny.

After putting my clothes back on I decided to continue toward the nearest human village which according to the system was the Pearl Clan settlement, and as I walked an idea came to mind.

- System, tell me something, supposedly to return to my reality I have to completely change this universe's timeline, right?

[Yes.]

- When I return... will I keep the powers I gain here, or will I go back as a normal person?

[You will return with whatever you obtain in this universe, be it powers, blessings, materials, or Pokémon.]

Perfect.

- *smiles* Then let's make sure we arrive there as powerful as possible.

After saying that I stopped walking, then I turned my gaze to the sky, my face showing both nervousness and determination.

- Arceus... I know you're watching me right now, I'd like to ask you for help.

I said, deciding to gamble everything on what I was about to do, If he answered and I managed to fool him, I'd win big.

And it seemed he decided to take the bet, because I received a notification unlike any other.

[The Creator God asks how it is possible that you know of his existence.]

- It would take too long to explain how I know you exist... but please, I need to know if you can help me.

I said with a completely determined expression, while inside I was laughing because I had just confirmed he couldn't access my mind in any way.

[The Creator God asks what kind of help you need.]

- I need to save my universe.

I said, my face showing determination and hope in equal measure, even though inside I was just praying my gamble would pay off.

Honestly... this was more thrilling than Russian roulette against the God of luck itself.

[The Creator God refuses.]

- WHAT!?

I shouted, my face twisting in pain while the tension inside me skyrocketed because this was a genuine all-or-nothing moment.

[The Creator God explains that he cannot access your universe because it is under the protection of a higher-dimensional existence.]

Bingo.

- ...I see, thank you anyway.

I said, putting on the most miserable, defeated expression imaginable, while inside I laughed because I had just won the bet, now all that was left was to collect my prize, and what a prize it would be.

[The Creator God apologizes for being unable to help you.]

- ...Don't worry. I should've known it was impossible to begin with.

I said with a resigned face, while inside I thought that I need him to bite the hook.

[The Creator God asks if you could explain what is happening.]

And he bit

Taking advantage of the moment, I sighed and sat beneath a tree just to make the history I'm about to said more dramatic, whether it worked or not didn't matter to me.

- ...My universe... Let's just say it grew without a true God, we worshipped anything that brought even a hint of order.

I began, trying to sound like I truly missed those days, days that never actually happened except the part that we didn't have a God

- If nothing bad had happened none of this would've mattered, but if nothing bad had happened, I clearly wouldn't be here *laughs bitterly* ... Because we never had a stable faith, no gods were ever born, and when a realm full of demons discovered that... It was like serving them the most delicious feast in existence.

The more I spoke the more I tried to layer different emotions into my voice, and honestly, I did the best I could because my specialty was faking happiness, empathy and things like that, not sorrow.

- ...I don't think I need to explain our fate as slaves to demons, or why I arrived in this universe carrying so many curses, what I do think is worth asking is... How did I even end up here, am I wrong?

I stared into nothingness, waiting for Arceus's response, my face filled with pain.

[The Creator God says he laments the fate of your universe, and accepts your explanation.]

Perfect, now all I had to do was deliver the final blow.

[The Creator God asks how you arrived here.]

And there it was the opportunity

- Honestly... I didn't expect to end up here either, I had already considered that chance lost, but the reason I managed to reach your side of existence... Was because a higher-dimensional being briefly glanced at our universe and you know what happens when that happens.

After saying that I stood up and began walking aimlessly as I continued.

- Even though we were seen, we didn't catch its attention enough so it looked away again, but after seeing hope one last time... We had no intention of simply accepting our inevitable end so with nothing else left to offer... We went all in.

I paused for dramatic effect, and when I spoke again, my voice was filled with determination.

- We made the final sacrifice, offering every life in our universe in exchange for it returning to save us, and we barely succeeded because he found us amusing.

I said that, fully aware of how contradictory it sounded compared to reality, and fully aware of the question Arceus would ask next.

Unfortunately plans don't always go the way you want, and I had forgotten that when you are the creator of an entire universe, then you know far more than people usually assume.

[The Creator God understands how and why you arrived here, but says it seems you were deceived by the higher-dimensional being.]

- ...I know it looks that way, but that isn't the truth.

I said, trying to regain control of the gamble

[The Creator God asks you to explain.]

- I can still receive help from a god to save my universe.... but I have to be the one who becomes a god and return there myself.

I said, finally placing my last chip on the table.

[The Creator God says he is sorry, but he will not make you a god.]

- I don't need you to, I only need you to allow me to obtain godhood in my own way.

After saying that, I stayed silent waiting for Arceus's answer, and it seemed there was still a chance to win this big.

[The Creator God says that as long as you do not harm this universe, you may attempt whatever you wish.]

Ladies, gentlemen, and whoever is reading this... I have officially made the house go bankrupt willing

(General pov: *clap, clap, clap, clap...*)

//--//--//--//

Sorry for the late chapter, I had to study for an exam so it take more time that I wanted it to be, hope you all like this chapter (;ŏ﹏ŏ)

Also, I'm a bad writer of romance, even worse because... Well... I like boys... So yeah, I'm pretty sure that when I try to write the romantic scenes it will look like shit, so I'll try to do it the best I could

Also, this novel didn't have harem or anything, it's just the protagonist manipulating people, so don't hope a happy ending to nobody here
