Understanding
Silence.
Levi opened his eyes.
The white space remained.
Unchanged.
Endless.
But this time—
he wasn't alone.
Three figures stood not far from him.
Humans.
One of them stumbled backward, panic written all over his face.
"W-Where are we?! What is this place?!"
Another one kept turning in circles, breathing rapidly.
"No… no, this isn't real… this isn't real…"
The third stayed quiet.
Watching.
Like Levi.
Levi said nothing.
His eyes moved.
Observing.
Same space.
Same pressure.
Same… presence.
"They brought others too…"
Before anyone could react—
the space shifted.
Not visually.
Not physically.
But fundamentally.
The ground beneath them—
changed.
The man who was panicking first took a step—
and fell.
Not because he tripped.
Because the concept of "ground" disappeared.
He screamed—
but no sound came out.
Then—
he vanished.
No trace.
The second man froze.
His entire body shaking.
"What the hell was that?! What just happened?!"
The space twisted again.
Up became left.
Left became… nothing.
The man tried to run—
but his body didn't follow his intention.
He moved forward—
but his position didn't change.
Panic.
Pure panic.
"LET ME OUT!!"
The moment he shouted—
the space collapsed around him.
Compressed.
And then—
he was gone.
Levi didn't move.
Two gone.
The third one stepped forward.
Calm.
Too calm.
"…So this is a test."
Levi glanced at him.
The man continued:
"They're observing how we react to inconsistency."
Levi didn't answer.
But his gaze sharpened.
The man smiled faintly.
"Then the solution is simple."
He closed his eyes.
Focused.
"I just need to reject it."
For a moment—
the space around him stabilized.
Levi noticed.
But then—
a crack.
The man's expression changed.
Confusion.
"…Why isn't it working?"
The space shifted again.
More violently.
His logic—
failed.
His body froze.
And then—
he disappeared.
Silence returned.
Only Levi remained.
The pressure increased.
Not physically.
Mentally.
As if something—
was evaluating him.
Levi exhaled slowly.
"…So that's how it works."
He took a step forward.
The space distorted.
But he didn't resist.
He adjusted.
Another step.
Wrong direction.
Corrected.
Another shift.
He didn't fight it.
He followed it.
Observed.
Adapted.
Time passed.
Or maybe it didn't.
Then—
they appeared.
The same figures from before.
Tall.
Perfect.
Observers.
They stood in front of him.
Silent.
Then—
a voice.
Not heard.
Understood.
"Subject… remains."
Levi's eyes narrowed slightly.
"Others failed."
"Correct."
A pause.
"Reason?"
Levi answered immediately.
"They tried to apply fixed logic… to a variable system."
Silence.
Then—
another voice.
"Subject displays adaptive cognition."
The space shifted again.
But this time—
it wasn't hostile.
"Classification…"
A brief pause.
Levi waited.
Not tense.
Not afraid.
Just… ready.
"Valid."
Everything stopped.
The pressure vanished.
The space stabilized.
For the first time—
Levi could stand without resistance.
He looked at them.
Directly.
"…What are you?"
Silence.
Then—
an answer.
"Designation… irrelevant."
Levi's gaze hardened.
"…Then I'll name you myself."
A pause.
"They don't judge… they don't protect…"
"They only observe."
Levi spoke calmly.
"…Observers."
No reaction.
But something—
accepted it.
The space shifted one last time.
And then—
Levi disappeared.
They weren't testing him.
They were measuring his worth.
