Chapter 2 - Devil in His Room

Silence didn't last long.

The moment the girl spoke Chaos exploded.

"WHAT IS THAT?!"

"IS THAT A COSPLAYER?!"

"THOSE ARE REAL HORNS—?!"

Students screamed, some backing away, others pulling out their phones in pure shock. Teachers rushed forward but stopped halfway, uncertainty freezing them in place.

No one knew what to do.

Because nothing like this… had ever happened before.

But at the center of it all—

She stood calmly.

Like none of it mattered.

Her crimson eyes scanned the surroundings, slow and curious, completely unfazed by the panic around her. Her wings twitched once, then slowly folded behind her, fading slightly as if blending into the air.

"…So loud," she muttered, placing a hand on her hip. "Humans really don't know how to stay quiet, huh?"

Danny stared at her.

Up close now, everything felt… wrong.

Not scary.

Not exactly.

Just—

Unreal.

Her presence pressed against him in a way he couldn't explain. Like standing too close to something powerful… something dangerous.

And yet—

He didn't step back.

Instead, he spoke.

"…Who are you?"

The girl's gaze snapped back to him instantly.

Then—

She smiled.

Not politely.

Not kindly.

But playfully.

Like she'd just found something interesting.

"Oh?" she stepped closer, her eyes narrowing slightly. "You're not screaming. That's new."

Danny swallowed.

"I asked… who you are."

She stopped right in front of him now.

Too close.

Close enough for him to see the faint glow in her eyes… and the slight curve of her lips.

For a moment—

She said nothing.

Then, casually—

> "Abigail Shunku."

A pause.

Then she added, almost like it didn't matter:

> "But you can call me Abby."

Danny blinked.

"…Abby."

"Yeah," she nodded. "Try to remember it."

Before he could respond—

A voice cut through the air.

"STEP BACK FROM HER!"

Several armed men pushed through the crowd, dressed in dark uniforms, weapons raised. Their movements were sharp, trained—nothing like normal authorities.

The atmosphere shifted instantly.

Tense.

Dangerous.

Abby's eyes flickered toward them.

Then she sighed.

"…Already?" she muttered. "That was fast."

Danny's heart skipped.

"What do you mean—?"

"Don't move!" one of the men shouted, aiming directly at her. "Identify yourself!"

Abby tilted her head.

"…Didn't I just do that?"

"Hands where we can see them!"

For a brief moment—

Nothing happened.

Then—

The air changed.

A faint crimson glow flickered around Abby's body.

Danny felt it instantly.

Pressure.

Like gravity suddenly increased.

The ground beneath them cracked slightly.

The armed men hesitated.

"…Last warning!" one of them barked, though his voice wavered.

Abby looked at them.

Then smiled.

"Oh… you're serious?"

Her eyes gleamed.

Dangerously.

Danny's instincts screamed.

"Wait—!"

Too late.

In a single step, She vanished.

A blur of crimson.

A shockwave followed.

By the time anyone reacted She was already behind them.

Standing casually.

Like she had always been there.

The men froze.

Their weapons dropped.

Silence.

Heavy.

Terrifying.

"…Too slow," Abby said lightly.

Danny's eyes widened.

What… was that speed…?

Before the situation could escalate further Sirens echoed in the distance.

More people were coming.

Abby clicked her tongue.

"Ugh. Annoying."

She turned back to Danny suddenly.

"Hey."

He flinched slightly.

"Yeah—?"

Without warning She grabbed his arm.

Firm.

Warm.

"Take me with you."

"…What?"

"I need a place to stay," she said casually, like she was asking for directions. "And you seem… interesting enough."

Danny's brain stopped.

"W-wait…what do you mean take you…?!"

"No time," she cut him off. "More of them are coming."

As if on cue more vehicles approached.

More danger.

Abby leaned in slightly, her voice dropping just enough for only him to hear:

> "Unless you want them to take me… and find out you were the first one I talked to."

Danny froze.

That… sounded like a threat.

"…You're blackmailing me?"

She smiled.

Bright.

Dangerous.

"Maybe."

A beat.

"…Or maybe I just like you."

Danny didn't know which was worse.

Another siren blared.

Closer.

Louder.

Abby tightened her grip slightly.

"Decision time, human."

Danny looked at her.

At the chaos around them.

At the men still frozen in shock.

At the sky that had already returned to normal…

Like nothing had happened.

His normal life…

Was already gone.

"…Tch."

He exhaled.

"…Fine."

Abby's smile widened instantly.

"Good choice."

Before he could regret it She pulled him forward.

"Wait..where are we even?!"

"Anywhere but here," she replied.

And just like that They ran.

Leaving behind the broken courtyard…

And the last piece of Danny Yui's normal life.

---

Later that night…

Danny stood in front of his house.

Silent.

Still.

"…This is a bad idea."

Behind him Abby leaned forward slightly, peeking over his shoulder.

"Ooh… this is where you live?" she said, clearly unimpressed. "Kinda small."

Danny sighed.

"…You don't have to say it like that."

"Relax," she shrugged. "I've seen worse."

He opened the door slowly.

Carefully.

Like if he moved too fast, reality might snap back into place.

It didn't.

The house was quiet.

Normal.

Safe.

For now.

He stepped inside.

Abby followed without hesitation.

Looking around like she owned the place.

"Hmm…" she hummed, walking past him. "Not bad."

Danny closed the door behind them.

The sound echoed.

Final.

He turned to her.

"…Alright. You're here. Now what?"

Abby turned back to him.

For a second She just stared.

Then She smiled again.

But this time…

It was softer.

Less teasing.

More curious.

She stepped closer.

Leaning in slightly.

Close enough to make his heart skip.

"Now?"

A small pause.

Then—

"We figure out why you feel… familiar."

Danny's breath caught.

"…What?"

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

Studying him.

Carefully.

Like he was the mystery now.

"…You'll understand soon," she said quietly.

The room fell silent.

But this time It wasn't normal.

Because something had already started.

Something neither of them could stop.
