Chapter 7 - Bab 7: The Hidden Story

The night had deepened, and Arou's backyard was silent except for the soft rustle of the wind.

Nova stood beside Airi, a mischievous smile still playing on his lips. He had just teased her again, lightly brushing her hair, making her cheeks flush.

Airi looked at him coldly, sword still at her side.

"Nova… enough," she said, her voice trembling slightly but firm.

Nova leaned in, meeting her eyes directly, his expression softening yet serious.

"Airi… I'm not joking," he said, his tone shifting from playful to sincere.

"All this time… I've admired you, respected you… and… I love you."

Airi's eyes widened, lips parting slightly.

"Eh…!" she exclaimed, startled, though she still tried to sound indifferent.

Nora, standing quietly behind Nova, smiled widely and patted his shoulder.

"Ha! I'm rooting for you! Keep going, Nova!"

Arou watched from a distance, surprised but holding back a smile, arms folded across his chest.

Shion and Rei exchanged glances, suppressing laughter, yet clearly moved by the moment.

Nova stepped closer, the space between them shrinking to mere inches.

"See, Airi… I don't care that you're cold. I don't care that you try to hide your reaction. I love you. I want you to know that… right now."

Airi lowered her gaze, holding her breath, her heart pounding uncontrollably.

Inside, she struggled between anger at Nova's teasing and the sudden stirrings of her heart.

Nova reached out, gently cupping her cheek.

"This isn't a joke… I'm serious. You mean more to me than you could ever imagine."

Airi stared at him, eyes glistening, body tense, but her heart slowly softened.

From behind, Nora smiled in quiet satisfaction.

"I knew this would work… look at her reaction!"

Nova's expression softened further, the distance between them only a few inches now.

Above them, the cracks in the night sky pulsed faintly, yet for this moment… it was as if the world had stopped. Just the two of them, caught in the tremor of a heartfelt confession.

Nova sat down beside her, a trace of his mischievous grin lingering, eyes sharp but gentle.

"You know… every time I see you, Airi… it feels like the world pauses for a moment," he teased softly, leaning slightly toward her.

Airi held her breath, eyes glistening now.

"Enough of your nonsense… why do you keep bothering me?" she said, voice trembling yet firm. Tears welled up, betraying her cold facade.

Nora, standing silently behind Nova, patted his shoulder but remained quiet, savoring the drama.

"Eh…!" Arou called out from afar, restraining himself from approaching, slightly annoyed but worried seeing Airi tearful.

Shion and Rei remained serious, unmoving, focused entirely on the unfolding moment.

Nova gazed at her, expression solemn, his playful smile temporarily gone.

"Airi… I never meant to make you cry," he said softly, voice low and genuine.

"But I… I love you. I can't hide my feelings any longer. I want you to know… right now."

Airi covered her face briefly, stifling her sobs, body trembling slightly.

Nova extended his hand, brushing her cheek gently.

"You mean more to me… more than you'll ever realize," he said, calm yet fully attentive.

Airi looked at him again, eyes glossy. Her heart wrestled with annoyance at Nova's teasing and the unexpected warmth of his words.

From behind, Nora smiled knowingly.

"Haha… I knew this would work. Look at her reaction."

Nova returned a gentle smile, leaning just a little closer, inches apart.

Above, the faint cracks in the sky pulsed softly, yet this moment seemed to freeze the world… leaving only the two of them, the evening warm with confession and emotion.

Late at night, the house was quiet. Arou, Shion, Rei, and Nora were asleep, the dim lights adding a gentle glow.

Airi sat on the balcony, staring at the faint cracks in the sky, unable to sleep, thoughts tangled between the day's training and Nova's teasing.

Nova appeared, taking a seat beside her, a thin smile on his lips.

"You're still awake?" he asked lightly.

Airi glanced at him coldly but didn't move away.

"Can't sleep yet."

Nova nodded, gazing at the sky for a moment before turning to her.

"In that case… I'll keep you company. You don't have to be alone."

Airi looked at him for a moment, heart racing.

Nova smiled, leaning slightly but keeping a respectful distance.

"You don't have to say anything… just sit here with me."

Airi held her breath, eyes glistening as she looked up at the sky again.

Nova lightly patted her shoulder, grin playful but soft.

"Don't worry… I won't bother you. But if you want to talk, I'll listen."

Airi closed her eyes briefly, exhaling slowly. Her heart began to feel warm.

Outside, the faint cracks in the sky pulsed softly, yet tonight, their little world was filled only with warmth, safety, and each other's presence.

The balcony was quiet, the gentle wind brushing past them, the dim light making the scene feel cozy.

Nova sat close to Airi, gaze soft and serious.

"Why… are you always so cold?" he asked quietly, voice gentle yet attentive.

Airi looked down, silent for a moment. Her heart shook, but finally, she began to speak words she had long kept inside.

"I… lost my parents when I was four," she said softly, voice trembling. "Since then… I never felt genuine care from anyone."

Nova looked at her, eyes full of empathy. He sensed the depth of her pain in her words.

"And… after that, who took care of you?" he asked gently.

Airi inhaled deeply, staring at the sky. Her eyes glistened, yet her face remained determined.

"I was raised by Nora," she replied. "Even though… Nora was… a monster. But she… cared for me, lovingly. For some reason… no human ever seemed to care. Everyone looked at me as if I didn't matter."

Nova reached out, resting a hand lightly on her shoulder.

"Airi… that's not fair. You deserve genuine care and love… and you truly do."

Airi bowed her head again, breath shaky, heart torn between sorrow and the warmth of being heard.

"Since then… I learned to hold back. Not to rely on anyone. Being cold… it's how I survive," she whispered.

Nova gazed at her long, soft but resolute.

"You don't have to hold back anymore… I'm here. I care for you, Airi. I won't let you feel alone again."

Airi held her breath, cheeks faintly pink. Her heart slowly opened, though traces of sadness lingered.

On that quiet balcony, it felt as if the world had stopped. They were simply present for each other, and for the first time, Airi felt someone truly cared.

Nora, watching from a distance, smiled softly, proud. She knew how important this moment was for Airi and Nova.

Late at night, the balcony was silent. Dim lights illuminated Airi and Nova's faces.

Arou, Shion, Rei, and Nora slept. Only the two of them remained.

Nova looked at Airi, mischievous smile lingering but eyes gentle.

"You know… I want you to stay here with me. I want you to feel safe… comfortable… happy," he said softly.

Airi lowered her gaze, cheeks faintly flushed, trying to sound cold.

"Nova… don't talk so much… I don't need your comfort," she replied firmly, voice trembling but attempting to stay tough.

Nova smirked, leaning slightly, brushing her hair gently.

"Too much talking? Eh… I just want you to know I like seeing you flustered and shy. It makes me want to tease you, keep making you smile," he teased.

Airi swatted his hand away, holding her breath, eyes sharp.

"Stop… I won't smile for you. I don't need your attention," she said, holding back her growing warmth.

Nova chuckled softly, voice gentle, locking eyes with hers.

"Then… I'll keep bothering you. Because I want you to know, I love you. I want you to feel that you're not alone. I'll always be here for you, Airi."

Airi lowered her gaze, cheeks reddening further, heart torn between annoyance, embarrassment, and warmth.

"But… I won't trust you easily," she said firmly, though her soft voice betrayed the warmth growing inside.

Nova smiled, patting her shoulder softly, keeping a comfortable but intimate distance.

"That's fine… I enjoy the challenge. The more you resist, the more I want to make you smile, Airi. I won't give up."

On that quiet balcony, the world seemed to pause just for them.

Nora smiled quietly from afar, proud of the moment.

Arou peeked through a window, holding back a grin, half-annoyed but relieved.

Shion and Rei were silent, watching intently, understanding the significance of this moment.

Nova took a deep breath, smiling softly at Airi.

"Tonight is perfect… just you and me. And I'll make you smile… even if you resist," he whispered.

Airi held her breath, lowering her head briefly, but her heart felt warm. She remained outwardly cold, yet little by little, Nova's presence began to penetrate the walls around her heart.

That night, the quiet balcony became their small world, filled with teasing, heart battles, and warmth, drawing them closer together.
