Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

(Upstairs)

I entered my room, shut the door, and flopped onto my bed, groaning in frustration.

My phone immediately began to ring. I glanced at it and picked up the call.

"Hey, Lexy, what's up?" the person said.

"Spit out whatever you want to say and stop wasting my time," I said coldly.

"Chill, I just called to ask if you're ready. Me and the girls decided we should meet at Sesame Park, Mackintosh Avenue," the person said.

"Is that all?" I asked bluntly.

"Um… we'll all be there in about an hour and a half, and—" the person started, but I hung up, cutting them off.

I sat up and walked toward my wardrobe.

(After 1 min)

I came out wearing a black hoodie, white leather jeans, and let my hair fall in waves. I grabbed my credit card and phone, stuffed them into my handbag, and headed downstairs.

(Downstairs)

I came down the stairs and saw Mom carrying Jace.

"Mom, put him down. He's not a little kid anymore," I said.

"But I want to carry him," Mom said, tightening her hold.

"Suit yourself," I replied with a glance and walked toward the door.

"Where are you going, honey?" Mom asked as she adjusted Jace.

"I told you. I'm going out with my girls. I might be home late, so don't wait for me," I said, opening the door.

"Okay, honey, but don't drink, alright? Remember you're resuming tomorrow," Mom said with a worried expression.

"I'll try. But if you didn't want me drinking, you should have known not to irritate me before," I said coldly and left.

Mom sighed. "Would it take an inch from her if she were nice for once?" she muttered through gritted teeth.

(After 1 hour)

"Ma'am, we're here," the driver said. I opened my eyes and glanced at him through the rearview mirror.

"How much is it?" I asked.

"Twenty dollars, ma'am," he said. I paused and raised an eyebrow.

"Ma'am, don't look at me like that. It's not my fault. Things are getting expensive in our economy, so we had to increase the price… but I could reduce it to five dollars for you, if you want," the driver said, licking his lips.

I looked at him with disgust. "Have you seen yourself in the mirror? With your disfigured face and oversized belly, even a microorganism wouldn't want to associate with you," I said harshly as I stepped out of the car.

"Your mother must be so disappointed in you," I added coldly, throwing the money into his car and walking away.

"Hey, lady! Lady… why are all the girls these days playing so hard to get?" the driver shouted through gritted teeth as he drove off.
