Chapter 50 - 50

Leading the team were Christine Yamata, promoted to Vice Captain, codenamed Four-Eyes, and field medic Michella, codenamed Bertha!

Wolf Mother Karena had already infiltrated the Zodiac Express and was quietly waiting. Once Annette boarded the train, she would rendezvous with Annette, create an alibi, and then together they would leave the train and escape to safety!

Chapter 80: Annette

Annette was dressed in casual clothes, a stylish, tight-fitting women's outfit. She wore a jet-black decorative collar around her neck, giving her the appearance of a fashionable lady. Especially after using the Serum, she looked even younger and more beautiful.

Upon arriving at the station, Annette presented her identification. After her identity was confirmed, she put on her aviator sunglasses. Looking at the approaching Zodiac Express, Annette curved her lips into a charming smile; she felt that she could finally leave this place.

This was a good time to leave Umbrella. All loose ends had been tied up, and there were no worries.

On the train, there were many investigators dressed in various ways: suave men in suits, flamboyant socialites, researchers wearing glasses, and even unruly hooligans.

Annette simply greeted them and went to her private lounge. Her rank was higher, so she had a dedicated place to rest.

"Doctor Annette, this is your private lounge. It will be three hours until we reach our destination. Please enjoy your short journey. You can call us anytime if you need anything," a service attendant said, trying to curry favor.

Annette nodded haughtily, "Hmm, bring me a luxury meal set, and then don't bother me."

"Understood, Doctor, please wait a moment." The attendant immediately went to fetch wine and food.

After receiving the luxury meal set, Annette entered her room. As soon as she stepped inside, she saw a woman in special combat gear sitting on the sofa, playing with a dagger. Her face was covered by a gas mask with a faint blue glow, through which her radiant face and bright, piercing eyes could be seen.

"Hello, Karena, I'm Annette!" Annette extended her delicate hand.

Wolf Mother Karena also shook her hand. "We'll begin the operation in forty minutes."

"Okay, I'll follow your lead." Annette didn't object. The fact that this woman had Eddie's deep trust proved she must have an outstanding quality.

"Do you have any mobility issues?" Karena seemed to sense something.

"No, I'm fine, everything's normal." Annette began to put on a special combat suit; she needed to ensure her safety.

Karena didn't even lift an eyelid. "It's very safe over there, you don't need to!" Her words were suddenly interrupted by a communication sound through her earpiece.

"My apologies, we will begin the operation in thirty minutes, the situation has changed," Karena added calmly.

"Okay." Annette also knew that an accident would occur on this train, but she didn't know what kind of accident.

At the designated rendezvous point, the ninja VECTOR remained vigilant. Three Zombie Dogs and several mutated Hunter had already fallen around him.

The monitor SPECTRE's orders were to obey Captain Karena. He somewhat suspected whether his captain had already defected to the great lady Alex?

The mechanical binoculars on his eyes were still observing. "Three o'clock direction, three kilometers away, a large number of Leeches are gathering. We don't have any here yet. It's Marcus on the cliff!"

"Hey, there are also two Umbrella special operations unit members rushing over. Tonight is really going to be a show," Ghost's voice was devoid of emotion.

"What are they coming for?" Christine Yamata's beautiful eyes looked down the mountain, her gaze appearing very excited and fervent. She had witnessed her captain's formidable skills yesterday; it was a completely superhuman performance.

Karena's exquisite combat skills, coupled with rich experience. After being enhanced by the T-Virus, even a rocket launcher couldn't hit her. Under extreme focus, the same bullet time would appear, greatly enhancing Karena's reaction speed, as if incoming bullets became incredibly slow, giving her more time to react.

Karena told Christine Yamata that it was an enhancement using a special type of Serum. If she wanted to obtain this Serum, she would have to earn Eddie's trust and become a true insider to possibly get it.

This was the reason for Christine Yamata's fervent gaze. She was already obsessed with virus research, and this new virus modification, the Serum created from it, could possess such power. She really wanted to discuss it thoroughly with the inventor, Eddie, no matter the cost.

"They're heading towards the Executive Training Center. We can't control those killing machines." The demolitions expert Hector Hivers's nickname was Highway. His name was too long, so using his nickname was simpler and also provided a cover.

On a cliff three kilometers away stood a man. It was nighttime, and the weather was very gloomy, as if it could rain at any moment. This man was Marcus in his youth, somewhat handsome, but it was useless. Just thinking that he was composed of Leeches was enough to make one sick to death.

Marcus was humming a special, strange tune, using this sound wave to control a large number of Leeches. These Leeches infected with the T-Virus had sharper internal teeth and were highly aggressive.

Marcus learned from the computer that Umbrella was preparing to send people to the Executive Training Center. This was not a secret. The Leech Queen, who inherited Marcus's memories, knew how to use a computer, and simple investigations were within its capabilities.

"Umbrella! You dare to appear before me again, hmph, you want to come to the Training Facility and kill me again? You're just asking for death!" Marcus's voice was filled with immense rage, causing even the Leeches underground to stop crawling, feeling extreme fear.

On the express train, Karena looked at the electronic watch on her wrist. It was a tactical electronic watch Eddie had given her, waterproof and shockproof, very suitable for her use. "Time's up, let's go."

Annette put down her cutlery, put on a special backpack, and nimbly followed Karena out of the train window, then closed the window.

The two activated their backpacks and briefly flew, leaving the death train unnoticed from the roof.

In less than ten minutes, the two arrived at a mountaintop, where all Wolf Team members had gathered.

"Escort the target to the destination!" Wolf Mother commanded, looking at the express train below with a poker face. A doubt arose in her mind; she had checked, and the train had no explosives installed, no other dangers. So what was Eddie waiting for?

Wolf Team escorted Annette to the helicopter landing pad, then escorted Annette away to another city for temporary rest. Moving away from Raccoon City was the most correct choice.

At the same time, Eddie was still drinking coffee in the Tactical Force office, his eyes casually glancing at the time on the computer, waiting. He knew something would definitely happen tonight, and the time to reap benefits was coming.

Rebecca was also quietly reading in the office. Tonight, she and Eddie were on duty, and this feeling of being alone together made her feel quite good!

Chapter 81: Zodiac Express Incident

"Eddie, are you looking at stocks again? You're so smart, why don't you read more books?" Rebecca asked curiously. After reading a medical book for a while, she was a bit distracted.

"I read often. A balance of work and rest is most important. The key is also to have a male and female pairing; work isn't tiring then. Rebecca, have you considered joining the team?" Eddie smiled and handed her the coffee.

Rebecca took it and drank without thinking, only realizing something was off after finishing it. She turned her head and huffed, "You're so mean, giving someone coffee you've already drunk! I'm going to complain!"

"If you don't drink it, then give it to me. This is good stuff; I added some herbs to it. It can refresh you without harming you." Eddie said, then tried to take it back.

Unexpectedly, Rebecca drank it all, pushing the empty cup back. "Such good stuff, I wouldn't give it back to you. Hehe, I still need to think about the team. After all, if I'm with you for fifteen years, and then no one wants me, that would be terrible."

Eddie paused, then shook his head and laughed, "You really are unreserved! My door is always open for you, come anytime."

Rebecca gave a characteristic thumbs-up. "You said it, no backing out. I haven't decided yet, but when I do, I'll tell you."

Just as Eddie was still considering Rebecca joining his exclusive research team, a very serious accident occurred on the railway built by Umbrella in the Arklay Mountains. The high-speed train mysteriously stopped and fell silent.

Occasionally, some Leeches could still be seen crawling on the train. The steel carriages were covered in many slimy water stains, looking very eerie.

All passengers on the entire train died, none survived, presumably attacked by some unknown biological weapon.

There weren't many passengers on that train, only a sparse fifty-odd people. Including service staff and security personnel, it was a maximum of eighty-odd people.

Marcus stood on the mountaintop, a Leech crawling on his finger. "Hmph! Umbrella, our reckoning begins now! One by one, I'll slaughter them!"

When the Zodiac Express incident occurred, the person in charge sent out a distress signal, initially suspecting an attack by an unknown biological weapon.

In the Raccoon City underground laboratory, William, who was researching the G-Virus, felt a sense of unease. Then Wesker's call came in. "Wesker, what's the matter?"

Wesker was currently at the Umbrella Corporation. "The Zodiac Express had an accident and lost contact. The last message from the driver was that they were attacked by an unknown biological weapon!"

"Hmph, so what? Are you going to collect new combat data?" William hadn't reacted yet. This wasn't a big deal, nothing to be surprised about.

"Annette was also on the train, and she's probably in trouble. I'll arrange for personnel to investigate. You'd best be mentally prepared," Wesker said indifferently.
