Chapter 51 - 51

"What! Annette is in trouble! Damn it, find out who did this for me, and I'll make him pay!" William roared, furious, yet secretly pleased. Getting a promotion, making a fortune, and having your wife die – what a great thing!

Wesker also heard the underlying meaning. "All right, I'll investigate."

After hanging up, Wesker sat at his desk, deep in thought. Then he picked up the phone again and dialed.

Soon, a deep, oppressive voice came from the other end. "What do you want?" It was Sergei!

"The Zodiac Express is in trouble, attacked by unknown bio-organic monsters. I'm preparing to send a squad from the S.T.A.R.S. to investigate and collect combat data. Tomorrow, I'll also send another elite squad to the Mansion to collect live combat data. A serum leak has already occurred there!" Wesker reported, devoid of emotion.

Sergei was silent for a moment after hearing this. "Hm, then do as you say. Don't play any other tricks, or I'll let you taste my iron fist!"

"I understand." Wesker hung up, clenching his fists. He was filled with endless rage. One day, he would personally twist off Sergei's dog head and avenge today's hatred!

Eddie and Rebecca were eating a late-night snack. They lived together, sharing an apartment. This was Jill's instruction: to look after Rebecca, as this recent graduate still felt like a rookie and needed an experienced soldier to guide her.

Beep, beep, beep. Eddie received a message from his squad leader, Enrico, and said, "Rebecca, we have a mission. We need to go back."

Rebecca quickly finished the food on the table. She and Eddie had both learned to eat quickly, understanding the principle that being able to eat was a blessing!

The two returned to the office, where all the members of Bravo Team had gathered. They were all confused. Some had been watching TV at home, while others were with their girlfriends at the cinema. They had all been called back by a single phone call, seemingly sensing that something bad was about to happen.

Squad leader Enrico walked in with a telegram, his expression grave, and said, "We have a special mission tonight: to investigate Umbrella's Zodiac Express. According to their report, the train has been out of contact for two hours. There's also an important person on board, Dr. Annette. She is a key Umbrella employee and our mission."

Eddie listened quietly, feeling amused. An hour ago, Wolf Mom Luper had told him that Annette had safely arrived in another city, accompanied by Christine Yamata. Due to the power of the serum, Christine Yamata was incredibly loyal to Eddie and a trustworthy subordinate.

"The Arklay Mountains have recently experienced a series of those strange murders again. We need to bring heavy firepower, and everyone, proceed with caution. You have fifteen minutes to pack your gear. I hope everyone returns safely." Enrico ordered loudly, saluting.

"Understood!" Everyone saluted in return.

Eddie began packing his gear and took out the proof he had requested from Brian to show the squad leader.

Enrico frowned slightly. He strongly disliked unrelated people getting involved. However, since it was special instructor Svetlana, he accepted. "All right, Eddie, since Enrico requested her to go along for data monitoring, you're responsible for her safety."

"No problem, leave everything to me. Who knows, maybe she'll be protecting me then, haha. You know how good she is in a fight." Eddie chuckled.

Enrico patted Eddie's shoulder and said, "Don't be discouraged. No man is incapable. No matter how strong a woman is, a man can overcome her, don't you agree, unless you admit you can't!"

This guy was really interesting. Despite Enrico's stubborn expression, he was quite good at joking around in private.

Chapter 82: Svetlana's Encouragement

Eddie's equipment was a bit exaggerated: a specialized submachine gun, a large amount of ammunition, and ten magazines. High-explosive grenades, and a rocket launcher strapped to his back—was he preparing to be a mercenary? His gear was terrifyingly luxurious, and he even had a particle tactical dagger.

Even Rebecca was a bit stunned. "Eddie, are you preparing for war?"

Eddie patted Rebecca's shoulder directly. "Hey, our encounter at the sanatorium last time was profound enough. It made me lose my appetite for days. Of course, I need to be better prepared this time."

Speaking of the abandoned sanatorium, Rebecca still felt a lingering fear. "You're right. I need to bring more medicine."

Rebecca's role was a medic, not a primary combatant. She was only responsible for treating injuries.

Soon, everyone had packed their gear and boarded the helicopter. The pilot was still Kevin Dury, the experienced pilot.

With the roar of the rotor blades, the helicopter ascended and flew towards the eerie Arklay Mountains. Wesker watched the departing helicopter from the Umbrella building, then turned to go to the underground laboratory to find William. He intended to blow up the Executive Training Center and destroy all evidence, especially needing to confirm Marcus's death.

Eddie was still holding Svetlana's hand. He was actually a bit nervous. When taking a helicopter, he always worried he'd experience the protagonist's treatment: the vehicle exploding!

Seemingly sensing Eddie's tension, Svetlana curled a smile. This young man looked so formidable, as if nothing could defeat him, yet he was afraid of flying! This amusing display made Svetlana feel that Eddie was more like a living person than a cold machine. Her delicate hand also tightened its grip, fingers intertwined!

Thirty minutes later, after flying over the eerie mountains and nearing the site of the Zodiac Express incident, the helicopter suddenly malfunctioned. The rotor blades seemed to have a problem, and the helicopter began to shake violently.

Svetlana, experienced, said, "Hold on tight, don't worry. Once the plane lands, we'll be safe."

Rebecca immediately grabbed Eddie. In a panic, she grabbed whatever she could to stabilize herself. Otherwise, the violently shaking plane would throw people out, and falling from that height would at least cripple them, if not kill them!

Everyone else also gripped the handrails tightly. The pilot, Dury, tried to stabilize the helicopter with his rich experience, doing his best to ensure a safe landing.

Boom! The helicopter crashed to the ground. The violent jolt sent Rebecca flying, but fortunately, Eddie pulled her back. Otherwise, she could have hit her head, and that would have been a big problem, either disfigurement or disability!

Once the helicopter stabilized, Rebecca was still breathless and shaken. "Eddie, thank you!"

"Come on, I promised to take care of you. Let's get out of here!" Eddie chuckled. He would definitely save her, but if it were anyone else, he'd have to consider it.

"Hehe, anyway, I want to thank you." Rebecca smiled sweetly, evidently no longer so scared.

"Let's go, it's not safe in the plane anymore!" Svetlana pushed Eddie, seemingly not wanting to see him talk to other women.

Enrico also reacted. "Everyone, get off the plane. Dury, are you okay!"

Everyone exited the plane. The pilot, Dury, was inspecting the aircraft. "No, it seems the rotor blade is broken. Strange, I definitely inspected it, such a mistake shouldn't be possible!"

"Is someone deliberately tampering with it? Trying to make us crash?" Eddie asked, puzzled.

"We can't rule out that possibility. That was a close call. If it were just a little worse, we might have died. Damn it, whose good deed was that bastard doing!" The sniper, Foster, said while tidying his sniper rifle.

"Whoever it is, we'll only find out when we get back. I feel the atmosphere here is very wrong. We should be more careful!" Kenneth, took out his weapon and said.

"Everyone, keep your walkie-talkies on, stay in contact, and don't stray too far. It's very dangerous here. The Arklay Mountains still have many unknown dangers. Be careful, and don't get separated!" Squad leader Enrico issued the order.

Bang! As soon as Enrico finished speaking, Eddie picked up his submachine gun, switched to single-shot mode, and began firing at a dark spot in the distance. Each shot was met with the sound of breaking bones and the pained yelps of dogs.

Kenneth, and Edward went to check and found that the slain creatures were Zombie Dogs with extremely rotten appearances! They couldn't help but exclaim, "It's those monsters, the same monsters we encountered before!"

At this moment, a large number of Zombie Dogs began to attack, running on all fours, emitting eerie sounds, and the smell of decay could be detected from afar!

"Watch out! Open fire!" Captain Enrico immediately drew his gun and attacked, aiming to hit the Zombie Dog in front.

But there were too many Zombie Dogs, and they were extremely scattered, rushing in from almost all directions.

Svetlana curled a disdainful smile. In this extremely dangerous situation, she found it amusing; this was what made it interesting! She took out her customized submachine gun, firing single shots, each one accurately killing a Zombie Dog. No matter how agile the Zombie Dogs were, their desperate attempts to dodge only resulted in them running into bullets!

"Rebecca, be careful, stay close to me. Svetlana, I'll leave our backs to you." Eddie said, picking up his submachine gun and starting to attack. The nighttime visibility didn't affect him much; the serum had given him the advantage of enhanced night vision, allowing him to accurately see the grotesque Zombie Dogs fifty meters away!

Da da da! Machine gun fire continuously rang out, and spent casings ejected from the magazines. Everyone was fighting desperately.

But except for Eddie and Svetlana, everyone else was an ordinary person, and their vision was greatly obstructed at night.

"Ah!" A scream came. It turned out that Edward, who was checking ahead, had been tackled and bitten by a Zombie Dog.

Eddie immediately turned and fired, killing the Zombie Dog. "Kenneth, bring Edward back. I'll cover you."

Enrico saw a team member was injured and immediately shouted, "Everyone retreat to the helicopter quickly! Cover each other, don't panic."

Da da da! Under Eddie's cover, Kenneth brought Edward running quickly back to the helicopter.

The group immediately returned to the helicopter and closed the hatch, using the confined space to prevent attacks.
