Chapter 55 - 55

"Go by yourself. I still need to research the G-Virus and don't have time to waste on this. But if you get the combat data, give me a copy; it will be very helpful for my research." William left the monitoring room without looking back.

Chapter 88: Rebecca's Affirmation and Comfort

The train suddenly started, and its speed was still climbing. Eddie and the other three began to walk towards the driver's cab at the front of the train. There weren't many zombies on the way, and some were cut in half, perhaps by the large scorpion from earlier.

Stepping on a zombie that was only half a body but still persistently crawling and trying to bite, Eddie frowned. Everything here felt wrong.

In the second to last carriage, there were a large number of leeches, and two corpses were being devoured by them, a truly nauseating sight.

Eddie frowned, pulled out a Molotov cocktail, and threw it in, burning all the leeches to death.

"You set the carriage on fire. How are we going to get through now?" Billy asked, puzzled. Wasn't this cutting off their own escape route?

Eddie pointed above his head, "We can go through the roof. Do you want to go and see if those leeches bite?"

Speaking of leeches, Rebecca felt a wave of disgust. She would never like such slimy creatures.

Even the tough Svetlana frowned. No one would like leeches, and women would like them even less. These ugly, blood-sucking creatures are hated by everyone!

Thump! Eddie jumped, kicked open the ventilation door on the roof, and stepped onto a seat, being the first to climb up.

The other three followed closely, but Rebecca needed Svetlana to pull her up. Her physique was that of an ordinary person; even with training, her strength was very limited. She wasn't like Svetlana, who possessed hundreds of pounds of strength, enough to kill an old ox with a single punch!

After passing the leech-infested carriage, everyone arrived at the driver's cab, where a giant leech was coiled.

Eddie picked up his submachine gun, giving it no chance, and opened fire in full auto, riddling the creature until it fell off the train. The remaining leeches were also cleared with the help of the others. Against bullets, these slimy, disgusting creatures were destined to be shattered.

Rebecca checked the control panel and frowned, "The emergency brake device here seems to be at the rear of the train."

"Why so much trouble?" Eddie picked up the operation manual. It stated that they had to go to the rear of the train to get a disk, which would then unlock a device in the driver's cab, opening the steel plate protecting the emergency brake handle.

"Was this designed by that guy? They said it's an emergency brake, yet they still have to run to the rear of the train?" Svetlana scoffed. This was utterly idiotic. Such a designer would be beaten to death.

"I'll go. Time is of the essence!" Billy didn't hesitate. He knew going to the rear of the train was dangerous, but he had to go.

"No need for such trouble!" Eddie chuckled. He swore that when he returned, he would find the designer of this train and give him a high-explosive bomb to send his entire family to heaven! What a crazy design. When lives were at stake, they still had to run to the rear of the train for a disk? Only an imbecile would come up with something like that, and Umbrella was even dumber for buying it!

Eddie clenched his gloved fist and slammed it hard against the steel plate. The massive vibrating sound made Rebecca frown. This was too violent!

Thump! Thump! Thump! With a series of furious punches, Eddie forcibly smashed open the steel plate and grabbed the emergency brake handle. "See? Wasn't that simple?"

Rebecca took Eddie's right hand with a touch of heartache, applying medicine. "You really are something. Why did you have to hurt yourself to open it! I hate it!"

While shocked, Billy also gave Eddie a thumbs up. This guy was impressive, not only strong but also emotionally intelligent! "Dude, well done. I admire you. I'm starting to believe you guys."

While Rebecca was applying medicine, Marcus on the mountaintop was very displeased. He ordered the leeches to form a wall in front of the tracks, intending to stop the speeding train. Those guys dared to kill his children, so they must die!

"What's that ahead?" Billy suddenly pointed at the obstacle made of leeches in front.

"Are those leeches? Since when did leeches become so intelligent? Let's hurry, be careful, we're about to hit it!" Eddie shouted loudly.

Thump! An obstacle made of leeches was sent flying, the leeches shattering into pieces, and cracks began to appear on the glass.

Thump! Thump! Thump! Each impact sent leeches flying, and the glass became increasingly covered in cracks.

After the final impact, the train stopped. The emergency brake had still worked.

Eddie kicked open the glass. The shattered glass no longer offered any obstruction, and there was still an obstacle made of leeches ahead.

Whoosh! Eddie threw a grenade, directly blowing the pile of leeches into fragments.

Appearing before everyone was a tightly shut iron gate. It seemed like this was some kind of place, the train's terminal?

In fact, this railway was also funded and built by Umbrella, merely in Raccoon City to increase Warren's achievements.

"Where is this?" Rebecca asked, puzzled.

"This should be Umbrella's Executive Training Center. It's been abandoned for some time. I've only heard of it but never been here. Rumor has it there's something unclean here, and almost no one who comes here has a good end," Eddie explained.

Rebecca wasn't surprised. Instead, she made a wish-like gesture with her hands, "Luckily, Eddie, you've never been here. You'll always be very lucky!"

Svetlana shook her head. This woman was beyond saving, actually being fooled by a liar like Eddie. One should carefully consider even a punctuation mark in what a man says.

"Now we've come! Actually, I've always had a question: what exactly is Umbrella researching? I don't understand. Besides their regular medical teams, they also have secret laboratories. I don't know what they're developing; my clearance isn't high enough to find out, but I know there must be some secret here," Eddie said, frowning.

"Don't worry, we'll find the truth and solve the mysterious murders in the Arklay Mountains!" Rebecca encouraged Eddie. Even though he used to be an Umbrella employee, she still trusted him. It was a woman's intuition!

"Alright, then let's go see what's inside. Billy, do you want to come along?" Eddie asked.

"Of course, since you all said you're investigating a case, I'll go with you!" Billy had a strong sense of justice; otherwise, he wouldn't have been framed as a murderer.

Chapter 89: Wolf Mother with Superhuman Strength

"Unlock him. At least in front of those monsters, we humans need to stick together," Eddie instructed.

Svetlana walked over, gripped the handcuffs with her right hand, squeezed them flat, then twisted them, breaking them clean off! After being enhanced by the serum, Svetlana remained steadfast in continuing to train her combat skills, being no less formidable than the Tyrant and Nemesis.

Billy was a little surprised. This was the year he had been most surprised in over twenty years. "You're very strong."

Svetlana didn't respond. She didn't want to talk to irrelevant people, perhaps subconsciously thinking of herself as Eddie's girlfriend.

"She's always like this. Alright, Billy, you can tell us your story. Otherwise, I think Rebecca will continue to be hostile towards you; she still thinks you're a murderer," Eddie chuckled.

"I'm not! Whatever you say!" Rebecca pouted, looking at Eddie with a hint of reproach. In truth, she really didn't trust Billy, even though they had just escaped danger together.

The high-speed train was extremely dangerous, especially with its brake system broken. A collision would mean total destruction and loss of life.

Billy nodded, his expression serious as he said, "A year ago, my unit was dispatched to South Africa for counter-terrorism operations. The guides there were locals. Our squad had twenty-five men. The local hot weather and jungle warfare, coupled with terrorist ambushes, constantly depleted our numbers."

"When we emerged from the jungle, only four survivors, including myself, remained. It turned out that the guide had betrayed us. And the so-called stronghold we found was actually just a civilian village. The deaths of our comrades and days of continuous fighting had left us all exhausted."

"Upon learning of our betrayal, the captain shot the guide and ordered the killing of all villagers in the entire village. I disagreed and was knocked unconscious. When I woke up again, I was already imprisoned. What happened next is what you saw: they pinned all the blame on me, and someone within the federal government was bribed. I became the scapegoat!" Billy recounted his ordeal with a calm tone.

Rebecca listened with a frown. She hadn't expected such treacherous things to exist in the world. Her small hand gripped Eddie's arm, "Eddie, is this true?"

Eddie nodded, "It's true, I've heard of it. But such things happen every day; there's nothing strange about it."

Rebecca was still frowning, while Svetlana scoffed, "There are even more cruel things. Experience a bit more, and you'll know that this world isn't as beautiful as you imagine."

Svetlana had an unknown past and great ambitions. Taming such a woman would be incredibly difficult!

"Alright, that's how it happened. Let's gather ourselves and set off. Eat some vitamin tablets and drink some water; there will be a tough battle ahead." Eddie looked at the gate, sensing something was wrong.

Marcus had returned to the Executive Training Center and saw everything through the monitors. He skillfully operated the keyboard, unleashing all the bio-weapons: Hunters, giant snakes, venomous spiders, and so on. "Hmph, enjoy all this, and then become food for my children!"
