"What's going on? Didn't they say Jessica wasn't compatible with the Progenitor Virus? How is she still alive, and even showing tendencies to transform into a Raging Zombie?" Eddie was very confused.
The Progenitor Virus is a mysterious substance contained within the Stairway to the Sun flower. It screens for suitable hosts; if a host is unsuitable, it leads to their death. If suitable, it bestows great power and a long life, which is why compatible individuals can live for hundreds of years.
Chapter 101: Wolf Mom Luper is Very Annoyed
Just as Eddie was confused, Lisa's mother, Jessica, launched an attack, quickly pouncing and baring her teeth, wanting to bite her prey.
Eddie immediately performed an over-the-shoulder throw, slamming Jessica to the ground. An enemy of this level posed no danger to him whatsoever, unless he deliberately sought death, otherwise he wouldn't die.
A hand chop landed on Jessica's neck, and the immense force knocked her unconscious. Eddie had no choice but to call Wolf Mother, asking her to return again and take Jessica with her.
Wolf Mom Luper said grumpily, "Are there any other messes? Back and forth, do you think this is fun?"
She spoke very fiercely, truly deserving of her title, Wolf Mother!
Eddie was a bit speechless. "Isn't it 'in and out'? Bah, I'm not joking. This is the only one. They are mother and daughter, used as test subjects by Umbrella, trapped in this Mansion for thirty-two years. And this Jessica was originally supposed to be discarded more than thirty years ago, I didn't expect her to still be alive."
"I don't want to hear all that. Just tell me directly, these two women are very helpful to you, right?" Wolf Mother didn't want to hear stories; she wasn't a little girl, and excessive sympathy wasn't good for her work.
"Yes." Eddie nodded.
Wolf Mom Luper tidied Eddie's bulletproof vest and his hair. "Alright, I'll keep an eye on the villa, don't worry, everything will be fine. I'll be waiting for you at the villa."
"Okay, I'll be done here very soon." Eddie nodded.
Returning to the Mansion again, this time there were some strange creatures, monsters created by combining certain animal and human genes.
Bang! Eddie fired a shot without thinking. These monsters were probably in pain, had low intelligence, and were disgusting. They might as well die sooner!
Back in the room, Rebecca was still sleeping soundly, seemingly truly exhausted. The night's ordeal, coupled with close contact with biological weapons, had left Rebecca feeling incredibly confused and with a racing heartbeat.
Svetlana was still reading. "You're back? I heard Karena's voice just now, are you alright?"
Eddie shook his head. "I'm fine, just picked up a few things. Seeing these biological weapons, what are your thoughts?"
Svetlana looked seriously into Eddie's eyes. "If the biohazard incident in the Arklay Mountains cannot be effectively resolved and spreads, the entire continent will become an area filled with monsters."
"I didn't expect you to be quite perceptive, not as foolish as I imagined!" Eddie chuckled.
"Go to hell!" Svetlana snorted, clearly annoyed by the assessment. "You're going to get hit in a bit!"
Eddie waved his hand. "Don't be like that, beautiful, I was just joking. Alright, back to the main topic, I'm serious, I have a premonition that this is a pandora's box; once opened, it will be very difficult to close."
Svetlana glanced at Eddie with a strange look. "Even if that's the case, do you need to concern yourself with these matters? You're not some selfless person, what's the point of saying these polite words to me? Say something practical, speak plainly!"
Clearly, Svetlana had seen through Eddie from the start; he was definitely not a good person, not evil, but occasionally he would resort to some underhanded tricks.
"Don't talk about me like that, I occasionally help old ladies cross the street. Since it can't be closed, then go with the flow. I think the most important thing right now is to collect enough combat data. Later, I can also research related experiments and develop biological weapons. Only magic can fight magic!" Eddie chuckled.
"So what are you going to do?" Svetlana was also very interested; if there were mature biological weapons, using them in armed conflicts would definitely be a highly profitable endeavor.
"You're thinking too much. Biological weapons are great to use, but not very convenient to maintain. Besides, these things are not presentable; whoever uses them will be at a disadvantage. If you want to gain sympathy, using them secretly isn't impossible." Eddie analyzed further.
"Aren't you afraid she'll hear you? Then her impression of you will worsen, and I won't be responsible!" Svetlana glanced at the still-sleeping Rebecca.
"She'll find out sooner or later that the T-Virus I'm researching is related to biological weapons. These things are inherently a double-edged sword; used well, they're like you and me, used poorly, they become those monsters." Eddie's expression was serious.
Svetlana lightly stroked her hair, taking off her helmet. "You too, it's best to be careful and cautious. Don't end up becoming a monster. If that day ever comes, I will deal with you, personally, to spare you the suffering."
"Shouldn't you be saving me?" Eddie rolled his eyes.
"Solving you with a gun, that's my way of saving you." Svetlana curved a smile, inadvertently revealing the mature charm of a strong woman.
"Alright, I also hope that when I see you again, you won't have become a monster." Eddie spread his hands, looking innocent.
"Absolutely not, don't worry. I'm not that foolish; why would I choose to be a ghost when I can be a person!" Svetlana scoffed. No matter how foolish she was, she wouldn't joke with herself; this power was already enough.
"Alright, you stay here. I'm going to find a laboratory to see if I can hack some data, and see if there's anything I can take. Can't come here for nothing." Eddie finished speaking and prepared to leave again.
"Just don't die!" Svetlana instructed, still reading, lost in thought.
Svetlana was very intelligent. She didn't need exceptional scientific research IQ; she only needed to stabilize her relationship with Eddie to get what she wanted. She was becoming increasingly curious about biological weapons and looked forward to how far Eddie's inventions could go.
Inside the Mansion, Bravo Team continued their fierce battle, constantly infiltrating deeper under the leadership of Team Leader Enrico. Here, they discovered a large number of biological weapons, different from those seen earlier at the abandoned sanatorium, and even more disgusting.
Eddie didn't go to meet them; his mission was different. He was there to collect research institute data. As for exposing Umbrella's conspiracy? He had no interest whatsoever. He wouldn't do heroic deeds; whoever liked them could go for it.
Chapter 102: The Well-Fed Trio
At the Raccoon City S.T.A.R.S. base, more than twenty-three hours had passed since Bravo Team departed for their mission in the Arklay Mountains. During this time, all contact was lost, and the communication officer was unable to reach Bravo Team.
The helicopter used for contact was damaged, and even the pilot, Dury, was part of the operation. There were too many monsters in the Arklay Mountains; anyone with a bit of sense wouldn't want to linger there, even with guns. Five or six Zombie Dogs swarming would absolutely overwhelm an ordinary person.
David, the communications officer at the police station, reported to Chief Marvin, "Sir, Bravo Team of the S.T.A.R.S. went to investigate in the Arklay Mountains more than twenty-four hours ago, and there has been no contact since."
Marvin was a dedicated Chief, always well-regarded at the police station. At this moment, Marvin frowned. "Notify Wesker, the captain of the S.T.A.R.S.. I will report to Chief Brian."
It was late at night, and Chief Brian had already gone to bed. Woken by a phone call, he was furious. "Marvin, you'd better give me a reason. If it's just some garbage reason like asking me out for a late-night snack, I'll have you cleaning toilets for a week tomorrow!"
Marvin was not afraid, but calmly said, "Reporting, Chief. Bravo Team of the S.T.A.R.S. departed last night at eleven for the Arklay Mountains to investigate the loss of contact with the Zodiac Express train. They have currently also lost contact."
"Then send more people to investigate. I want to see them alive or their bodies! That's all!" Brian hung up the phone directly, thinking about what kind of spoils he would buy when next month's bribe came in.
Wesker arrived at the police station. He already knew about Bravo Team; those men were still fighting biological weapons in the Mansion and trying to solve the layers of mechanisms inside.
"Tonight's mission is to find Bravo Team. Everyone, get your weapons ready to depart!" Wesker wasted no words, giving the order directly after his team arrived.
Barry was concerned about Eddie's safety; Eddie was also his friend and a generous person. "I hope nothing happens to them."
"They'll be fine. They have more people, and Enrico is an experienced agent who has been in wars." Chris said with certainty.
Alpha Team also began to depart by helicopter, crossing the Arklay Mountains in the dead of night, entering a hell-like area to investigate.
Following Bravo Team's last provided signal, they arrived near the Zodiac Express.
Upon disembarking, Alpha Team members began to stand guard with their guns, as no one dared to be careless after the previous sanatorium incident.
"Captain, there's a damaged helicopter here, it looks like it belongs to our team!" Joseph was again the first to discover the crashed helicopter.
"Strange, there's no one here. Where did they go?" Chris wondered.
"Careful, monsters!" Barry quickly pulled out his Magnum to attack the rushing Zombie Dogs.
Bang, bang, bang! Although somewhat sudden, under the vigilance of the fully alert Alpha Team, these Zombie Dogs were all shot down. Facing several submachine guns, even the toughest flesh and blood would fall.
Wesker secretly recorded the data, wearing sunglasses late at night. To be so ostentatious, wasn't he afraid of being bitten by dogs?
