"Thanks, I'll buy you guys a drink when we get back." Edward coughed twice, picked up his shotgun, and seemed ready for battle again.
"It's nothing, just a small favor. By the way, where are the Captain and the others? I suspect this is a trap, someone is deliberately luring us here. I don't know if they plan to eliminate us or want us to eliminate this monster," Eddie said, frowning.
"The Captain and the others went to the lab downstairs. There's a secret door from the atrium that leads to the lab via an elevator. There are too many mechanisms here, we've been separated," Richard explained why the three of them were alone.
"Alpha Team has also arrived as backup. We'd better leave quickly and get the Captain and the others. This place is too eerie, it's not suitable to stay," Eddie said, frowning. He didn't know when Wesker would activate the self-destruct sequence, as he had already obtained what he wanted.
Anyway, Lisa was on the outskirts of the Mansion, occasionally entering to walk around, so catching her wouldn't be too difficult.
"Cough, cough, you guys go. I'll rest here for a bit. If I go, I'd just be a burden to you," Uncle Kenneth was still very optimistic. Even if he became a eunuch, he didn't give up on himself.
"Alright, but Uncle Kenneth can try to contact headquarters via radio and ask them to send another helicopter," Eddie suggested.
Chapter 106: Wesker's Conspiracy Discovered
Only Kenneth was left in the room. Eddie led Rebecca and the others onward. This was already the courtyard, and by going down, they could reach the underground laboratory, and the passage had already been opened.
As soon as they arrived in the courtyard, they met Chris and Joseph. Joseph was already injured and looked a bit pale. "Eddie! It's great that you're alright. Joseph is injured and needs treatment."
Rebecca walked over, took out bandages and medicine, and applied them. Her movements were already very skilled. As a medic, battlefield first aid was an essential skill.
Eddie, however, asked, "How did Joseph get injured?"
"He got bitten by those zombies while covering me!" Chris felt a bit guilty, as his teammate's injury made him feel remorseful.
"Use this antidote. Those zombies were infected by something, which caused them to turn into zombies. If you don't use the antidote, it's very likely you'll also turn into a zombie. Even so, the antidote needs to be used immediately, otherwise, it won't be effective," Eddie handed over a bottle of vaccine.
"How do you know? This is Umbrella's property. Do you know something?" Chris suddenly raised his gun and pointed it at Eddie. He had sensed something.
"Hey, Chris, put the gun down! It's not like that. Eddie saved us, you can't do this. If it weren't for her, Edward and I would be dead already," Richard stepped forward and stood in front of Eddie. No one could harm his savior.
Svetlana showed no reaction, instead, her expression was a bit playful. She maliciously wondered if Eddie had anticipated this scene and that's why he saved those three people? Regardless, with her there, no one would harm Eddie!
Eddie smiled, "Chris, it's normal for you to think that. Actually, I've been investigating Umbrella for a long time. I'm responsible for legitimate medicines, like antacids and painkillers, and other drug inventions. But in other branches, there are unknown experiments, and I didn't know what they were. But now, it seems I know what it is."
"What is it? What are they researching?!" Chris put down his gun, thought for a moment, and then added, "I'm sorry, I was too impulsive."
"It's alright, it's human nature. I suspect Umbrella is developing some kind of drug that causes biological mutations, perhaps to treat some disease. But the leakage of this drug led to this disaster. We need to survive, and only by surviving can we expose the truth!" Eddie said with a serious expression.
He didn't hesitate to sell out Umbrella. Anyway, Spencer wasn't planning on keeping Umbrella anymore. That old scumbag had already amassed enough wealth, and Umbrella was just a shell to cover his ambition and cruel actions.
Eddie wasn't a good person either. How much benefit he could gain at this moment depended entirely on his own abilities.
"Captain Enrico is still in the underground laboratory. We must go down and find him," Edward said, his expression still a bit worried.
"No problem, we'll go down now." Chris nodded. After seeing the tragedy in the Mansion, he swore he would expose the truth to the public.
The group took the elevator in the courtyard down to the underground. Along the way, they saw many experimental monsters: giant spiders, humanoid fleas, and flies, all extremely disgusting. Such twisted monsters should not exist in this world.
Compared to going it alone, Eddie, with team assistance, pushed through easily. With teammates to help, why would he act tough and seek death by himself?
Here, besides the underground walls, there were also steel plates embedded with metal. A large number of monsters had spread, seemingly originating from here.
Tat-tat-tat! Eddie continuously fired, attacking. Faced with countless enemies, he could only shoot the monsters from a distance. Just thinking about being bitten by these things made him feel disgusted.
"There are so many monsters here, it's disgusting," Richard cursed. He really should thank Eddie, otherwise, he would have been eaten by a shark. And since Jill hadn't come, he wouldn't have died under the giant python.
As for the specially infected shark in the laboratory, Eddie had no intention of seeing it. There was nothing good to see, just a slightly larger shark, a bit more ferocious, but useless once out of the water.
All the doors along the way were open. At a fork in the road, Foster and the pilot Dury were firing their guns, constantly attacking the continuously surging zombies.
Squad leader Enrico was half-lying against the wall, seemingly bitten by something, and had lost his combat capability. "You guys go, don't waste time here. This is all Umbrella's conspiracy. Go back and expose Umbrella's conspiracy to the public. These monsters are endless."
"Captain, we won't abandon you. Richard and the others will arrive soon. Hold on, don't say such disheartening things." Foster bit off the safety pin and threw a grenade, blowing up the zombies and fly-men.
A Licker suddenly appeared overhead and lunged at Foster, biting down.
Bang! An accurate bullet directly hit the Licker's heart, sending it flying. Chris quickly ran over, and Edward and Richard also jogged over, picking up their shotguns and continuously attacking.
"Die! Taste a grenade!" Eddie also pulled the safety pin from a grenade and threw it out.
Boom! With continuous grenade blasts, the underground laboratory walls remained very stable, showing no signs of collapse.
"Captain, don't move, I'll bandage you up." Rebecca didn't fight but ran over, took out first-aid spray and bandages, and then took out a bottle of special serum and gave Enrico an injection.
Enrico thought it was an antibiotic and didn't know it was the T-Virus vaccine.
"You're here? Good, hurry up and go. It's not safe here, hurry and leave," Enrico shouted loudly.
Just then, Barry appeared. "Be careful, I'll help you. Captain Wesker is ahead, let's go meet up with him."
Enrico shook his head, "No, that's Wesker's conspiracy. I've investigated here, he's an Umbrella spy. He held a position in Umbrella and was even a researcher here. His file is here. You guys hurry up and go, it'll be too late if you don't. Go back to Raccoon City and tell the Chief about Wesker's conspiracy!"
Chapter 107: Eddie's Awkward Provocation
The next second, Barry directly pulled out his Magnum and pointed it at Enrico's head. "Sorry, you have to go. I'm very sorry, but please, don't make me do it."
"Barry! Are you crazy? Put the gun down! We're teammates!" Chris immediately raised his gun and said. He didn't understand why Barry would do that; he was the least likely suspect.
"I have no choice, Chris. You guys go forward. You'll see Wesker in the lab ahead." Barry stopped talking and instead cocked the hammer, showing his resolve. Between his family and his teammates, he could only choose his family.
Everyone glared angrily. They hadn't expected Barry to be a traitor! They all picked up their guns. Could so many people not handle one Barry?
Svetlana's expression became even more playful. She was right in her guess; that middle-aged man indeed had a problem. Anyway, it didn't concern her, she just watched the show. Such a small Raccoon City actually had so many twists and turns, how interesting!
"Wait, Barry, I know you must have a reason. If you're being threatened, you can tell us, and we can help you. We are all the most elite of the elite, solving a small problem is still possible," Eddie didn't act impulsively, but instead shielded Rebecca behind him.
This gesture made Rebecca feel very warm, even though she didn't think she would get hurt, being protected felt really nice.
Barry was silent for a moment, seemingly engaged in a fierce internal struggle.
But Enrico, who was being held hostage, said, "Barry, we've known each other for a long time. I know what kind of person you are. If you didn't have a compelling reason, you definitely wouldn't do such a thing. Eddie is right, if something's wrong, just say it. There's strength in numbers, even if it's unavoidable, we'll find a way to solve it."
Barry remained silent for a long time before finally saying, "Wesker kidnapped my family. I have no choice but to obey him. He told me to lead you to the underground laboratory, I don't know anything else."
"That despicable Wesker!" Chris felt incredibly angry. He knew there was a problem here, but he never expected it to be his own captain!
"Since that's the case, why not put on a show? Barry can find transportation to leave after we reach the lab. Once we deal with Wesker, we can rescue your family together. There are no cameras here, Wesker definitely won't know what you've done," Eddie suggested.
"Yes, Barry, leave it to us. We understand you, it's alright. This is all Wesker's fault, and I'll make him regret it!" Chris felt betrayed, betrayed by a teammate!
Barry released Enrico, clutching his head in pain. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" After saying that, he wanted to raise his gun to commit suicide. His strong sense of justice made him feel extremely ashamed that he had actually threatened his teammates, teammates with whom he had experienced the infirmary and fought biochemical weapons!
"Barry, don't be impulsive. If you die, then I might just go after Moira. A young woman, eighteen years old, how wonderful!" Eddie suddenly chuckled mischievously, his expression truly showing some ulterior motives.
"You're full of it! How could I die, you scumbag! Alright, I've known you've been eyeing Moira for a long time. No wonder Moira often mutters about you, you bastard, what do you want to do to Moira!" Barry walked over angrily. He had worked so hard to raise a daughter, not for someone else to ruin her.
