Less than ten minutes later, after Eddie received the transfer notification, Jessica brought Becca and January to The Hive Laboratory.
"These two women are yours. Don't leak any company information!" Daniel said before leaving.
Eddie, however, looked at the two women with a wicked smile and said, "Come with me, you're mine."
Becca and January didn't want to go, but Jessica grabbed the collars of both women and lifted them, taking them to a lounge.
The lounge wasn't big, but at least there were no surveillance or listening devices. Jessica stood in front of the room, arms crossed, wearing ten-centimeter high heels, guarding the door like a Valkyrie.
Daniel's original intention to investigate vanished. This posture immediately suggested something dirty was happening.
This was also what Eddie intentionally wanted the other party to believe. A misunderstanding was fine. A misunderstanding was even better, as it meant no one would disturb his 'good deed.'
Becca and January felt a bit indignant, thinking they were about to experience the most terrible things.
Eddie cleared his throat. "Alright, don't misunderstand. Actually, I'm not a good person. Aren't you going to introduce yourselves? My name is Eddie, and I didn't bring you here for those dirty things. Please get your minds out of the gutter; we're going to talk business!"
Becca frowned, feeling both relieved and a little ashamed. Had she really overthought things? "Becca Woollett! A park ranger in the Arklay Mountains!"
January also frowned. She disliked Eddie's domineering attitude and cunning smile. "January, computer programmer!"
"Alright, the truth is, I was entrusted by someone to rescue you. Cindy, a beautiful waitress from Raccoon City's Jack's Bar, asked me to find her good friend Becca, which seems to be you." Eddie looked at the blonde woman in front of him, dressed very fashionably. It was clear she was a young, beautiful woman with fair skin, and she must have many admirers.
"Cindy asked you to find me? What's your relationship with Cindy? Although she's very popular, not many people earn her trust. Are you her boyfriend?" Becca fired off several questions.
Eddie's expression was strange. "Although I'm handsome and the dream lover of countless young women and beautiful wives, you can't misunderstand like that. Cindy and I are just friends. She asked me to find you because I was a member of the S.T.A.R.S. before, and I foiled the Mansion incident, where a killer was conducting terrible experiments and attacking travelers!"
"Hmph, what Mansion incident? Aren't you and Umbrella in cahoots? Would you not know about the experiments they're conducting?" January sneered.
"I really didn't know about that, but now I do. What can be done about it? Do you choose to righteously sue them, or do you indifferently live your own life? You're thinking about the problem too simply. Just like you, you try to uphold justice without strength, and what's the result? You get caught yourself?" Eddie retorted, unwilling to show weakness.
These women, he saved them and they weren't even grateful. They even mocked him. Did he really look that much like a good person? Did they want to bully him?
"Don't you feel guilty?" January demanded.
Eddie shrugged. "Sorry, I really don't feel guilty. It wasn't me who caught them for experiments. If Umbrella has problems, what does that have to do with me? Do you think I can control Umbrella? In fact, I'm just a poor coerced person. I just want to live, to live well."
"You're really selfish!" January sneered.
"Aren't all people selfish? I'm better than some women who like to peek at others' privacy online!" Eddie scoffed back.
"You! Hmph! What do you plan to do with us?" January turned her head and snorted.
"I haven't finished yet. Alyssa is my friend. Didn't she ask you to collect information on Umbrella and Chief Brian's dealings? After you disappeared, she entrusted me to find your whereabouts and, if possible, rescue you." Eddie's expression returned to seriousness.
"If that's the case, when are we going back?" Becca's beautiful eyes lit up. She didn't want to stay in this place at all. If possible, she even wanted to leave Raccoon City; it was truly terrifying here.
"It will take some time. During this time, I need you to play along with me!" Eddie proposed a shameless condition.
"Play along with what?" Becca was still a little confused.
"Hmph! Do you want to die?" January wasn't afraid now. Since Alyssa entrusted him, given Alyssa's upright character, this man should be trustworthy.
Svetlana shook her head. This Eddie really wouldn't miss any opportunity to take advantage. "He just means to pretend you're his lovers. This will reduce the threat level from Umbrella, and you'd best behave yourselves, don't cause trouble, and don't become those dead weight teammates!"
Chapter 139: Recruiting a Beautiful Hacker
After staying in The Hive Laboratory under the Arklay Mountains for two days, Becca and January were very well-behaved. Eddie also offered some suggestions for the so-called resistance plan, then took the two women back to Raccoon City through a secret passage.
Seeing the sunlight again, both Becca and January trembled slightly, a situation of tears of joy. They had originally thought there was no hope of survival, but unexpectedly, they were rescued. This was good news. However, thinking about their experiences, the two women couldn't feel grateful to Eddie.
Back in the apartment, a figure flashed quickly, rushing straight for Jessica behind Eddie. It was Lisa! She hadn't seen Jessica for two days and was subtly finding it hard to control herself, showing signs of going berserk.
"Be good, don't cause trouble for Eddie. Mom is here, she won't run away. We'll all be fine, forever." Jessica rubbed Lisa's head.
A 1.9-meter beautiful woman rubbing the head of a woman over two meters tall—this scene looked a bit strange. How could a woman be so tall?
Back in the apartment, Eddie also felt like he was home, especially when he saw Wolf Mother Karena in her loungewear. Her sweet smile always had a touch of otherworldly freshness. It had been a long time since he'd seen Jill, and he wondered how Jill was doing.
"You two sit for a moment. I'll notify Alyssa and Cindy to come over. There are still some things I need to tell you. Jessica, you chat with Lisa here. Karena, you come with me, I have something to tell you!" Eddie waved to Wolf Mother.
Wolf Mother, with a faint, charming smile, unaccustomed to wearing ten-centimeter high heels, walked into the room. She preferred flat shoes; they were more comfortable and better for fighting.
Three hours later, Eddie came out of the room and into the living room, humming a tune, seemingly thinking of something good. The doorbell rang just then, as if guests had arrived.
Jessica and Lisa were busy in the kitchen with Svetlana, seemingly learning simple cooking techniques. Besides fighting, these mother and daughter were most interested in eating.
Opening the door, it was Alyssa and Cindy, who had teamed up to come to the apartment. The two women were already friends; Alyssa was a regular at Jack's Bar, so she and Cindy were naturally old acquaintances.
"Hi, January, it's so good to see you're alright." Alyssa nodded and smiled. She just wanted to buy insurance, so her conscience wouldn't be condemned, and she hadn't expected Eddie to actually find her.
"Becca! Long time no see, it's really good to see you, are you okay?" Cindy also smiled brightly. As a friend, she was very happy to see Becca, who had been missing for so long.
The four women chattered for a while before turning their attention to Eddie, who was sitting on the sofa, smoking and drinking.
"Smoking isn't good, smoke less, it harms your body." Cindy said with concern.
"I know, but sometimes when I'm thinking, I'll smoke a cigarette, or eat some chocolate. Are you done chatting? Don't forget to give me my reward." Eddie immediately put on a mercenary look.
This surprised January and Becca, while Cindy and Alyssa were used to it. This was the Eddie they knew, a down-to-earth Eddie.
"You can come for your reward anytime you want, provided you dare!" Alyssa raised an eyebrow fiercely. As a member of a warrior race, she never knew what shyness meant.
"Then we can leave, right?" January didn't want to talk to Eddie anymore; she had had enough of this man.
"I advise you, you have an unknown virus in your bodies. Do you remember getting an injection earlier? That was an experimental product. If your psychological changes are too drastic or other situations occur, it might trigger mutations. Hmm, that is, you might turn into ugly monsters, or there's a one in ten thousand chance you'll become more beautiful." Eddie said calmly.
"Are you lying to me?" January walked up to Eddie and demanded, her expression furious. This man, she knew he was trouble!
"I don't have time to lie to you. You're a top hacker; you can check it yourself, but I advise you not to do it now. Accessing core files is monitored by Umbrella's most advanced supercomputer, Red Queen. It's best not to do that. Here's a copy of the resistance plan data I found; you'll understand once you see it." Eddie turned the laptop to show everyone.
January immediately took the computer and started looking. The more she read, the angrier her expression became. "Damn Umbrella, to do such heinous things! These scoundrels, their crimes must be exposed to the public!"
Alyssa also watched, her scalp tingling at the inhumane plan detailed within. Only by delving deep would one realize how terrifying Umbrella was. "Eddie, what do you suggest?"
Becca remained silent. She was infected with the virus, and she knew that a corresponding vaccine was necessary to resolve it. At this point, she could only rely on professionals.
"I'm also a virology expert. I haven't seen this kind of thing before; it requires time. To completely resolve it, it will take time to research." Eddie explained.
"Alright, state your demands, great doctor!" January's tone was very annoyed.
"You work for me, and I'll solve the problems in your bodies. A win-win situation, what do you think?" Eddie proposed his suggestion.
"That's your goal, isn't it? Isn't this taking advantage of the situation?" Becca asked calmly, her expression devoid of sorrow or joy.
"This is taking advantage of the situation. You can also understand it as taking advantage of someone's vulnerability, exploiting a weakness, and so on. It all means the same thing anyway." Eddie explained earnestly.
