However, being an agent in the CIA, one thing was clear: if she acted unusually, displaying strength and speed beyond human comprehension, she would very likely be dissected! To save her life, she had to hide herself!
This was Eddie's confidence and why he chose Rachel; her knowledge would make her wary, and at the same time, she was a sensible woman. A good bird chooses its tree to nest, which is perfectly normal.
As Rachel underwent modification in a low-temperature state, Eddie was also planning his next steps. William would definitely have new G-Virus research data later, which Annette did not possess. The fact that Frederick could steal T-Virus and G-Virus proved that he had a unique method, perhaps he could have him conveniently take some things Eddie wanted.
Eddie took the benefits, and the blame was left for Frederick to bear.
Just then, Ada called, "Where have you been these past few days?" There was a hint of interrogation in her tone. She hadn't even entered the door, yet she wanted to control him?
"I had things to do. What, did you miss me because you didn't see me?" Eddie teased.
"Go to hell! I just wanted to tell you that someone has evidence of your dealings with Chief Brian, and Brian has dealings with many people. You'd best be careful. And, hehe, those things you did before might very well be used against you." Ada sneered.
"What things? Brian and I only dealt with a small matter, regarding Jill's maternity leave." Eddie was somewhat puzzled by what she meant.
"Mayor Warren has connections with the military. If things go awry, he will contact the military immediately. Furthermore, Katherine is not his daughter; he has an illegitimate child outside. You understand now, right? Also, next time, remember to clean up your loose ends better, don't let others catch you. You still need to learn how to properly conduct transactions." Ada hung up the phone after speaking.
Eddie was somewhat puzzled. His weakness? He didn't seem to have any weaknesses to speak of. And Ada mentioned Mayor Warren and his daughter Katherine.
It turned out that Katherine was not his biological daughter. Perhaps this was why, when the Raccoon City crisis erupted, he abandoned Katherine without a second thought, as if she wasn't his child. Now it seems she truly wasn't his child.
"It must be that Ben you found who leaked it. I told you before, you need to be more ruthless." Svetlana snorted, making a throat-slitting gesture.
"These matters are not serious. Brian has private dealings with many people—Warren, William, Umbrella, Wesker, and so on, all have connections." Eddie frowned. Even if exposed, his issue was merely about taking maternity leave, which was not a big deal.
"Suit yourself, I've warned you." Svetlana said indifferently, looking down at the computer data. She was very interested in bio-weapons; they were simply divine artifacts for small to medium-scale conflicts!
A day later, Rachel's modification experiment concluded. After replenishing sufficient food and testing her changes, she appeared even more excited, especially as she felt that some old injuries from training had healed.
"Did you feel your own changes?" Eddie asked.
"Very good, this is amazing. Thank you, what do you need me to do?" Rachel regained her composure. She was a smart woman and knew what she had to give.
"Who is your superior?" Eddie asked.
"Morgan Lansdale. He is the man in charge of the CIA, and also a General!" Rachel answered truthfully.
"General Morgan?" Eddie rested his right hand on his chin, his expression very strange. He hadn't expected to meet General Morgan so soon.
"I have someone here who can provide T-Virus and related bio-weapons from Umbrella's research. Take them back to him, along with relevant combat videos. Also, tell him that Simmons is colluding with Umbrella, intending to use these things to create incidents to gain greater power." Eddie sneered.
"You want General Morgan and Simmons to fight each other?" Rachel suddenly asked.
"Not exactly. Do you think what I'm doing is feasible? I want General Morgan and Simmons to keep each other in check. Morgan is a very ambitious man; I know he will stop at nothing to do seemingly inhumane things for the power he holds." Eddie nodded.
To deal with Simmons, one Kaplan was not enough; a wicked Morgan had to be added. Someone who would use nearly a hundred thousand residents of a floating island city as tools for power, then destroy them. If Simmons stood in his way to greater power, then eliminating Simmons was not impossible.
"General Morgan is a very suspicious man. To make him believe, you cannot let him cooperate with Simmons." Rachel suggested.
"They won't cooperate. The current situation is very stable for the Federation; Simmons's family wants to maintain this stability. General Morgan, however, only has opportunities to expand his power through chaos. Do you think he would miss such an opportunity?" Eddie sneered, having long seen through the essence of everyone, which was his advantage.
Chapter 155: Raccoon City in a State of Alarm
This bizarre phenomenon made people very puzzled, and at the same time, felt an undercurrent surging.
The Hive Laboratory in the Arklay Mountains housed many culture tanks, all containing G-embryos cultivated by William using incomplete G-Virus. These embryos were for further observation of combat capability and to assist in the further completion of the G-Virus, with little actual combat power.
William was roaring at Daniel, "Damn it, I told you I couldn't let you in! You damned guys, you actually stole my G-Virus and samples!"
Daniel frowned; he also found it very tricky. "Please calm down, Doctor. We will find out who the culprit is, please rest assured, we will give you an explanation. And only immature serum was stolen, there's no need to make a fuss."
William knew very well that this was Spencer's self-directed play to test his attitude. He had to appear strong enough so as not to fall into a passive situation. "Hmph, if there isn't a good answer, I will report to the board of directors. You useless fellow, wait to die!"
Watching Doctor William leave in a huff, Daniel felt that things were not good. Who exactly stole the serum and samples? If he caught them, he would definitely make them wish they were dead.
On the Highway, the "Queen of the Ball" Rachel was already waiting in a sports car. She was radiant, as if nourished. She was clearly younger and more beautiful, her blonde bangs still covering her forehead, making it puzzling how she could see the road clearly.
A hurried white-haired man with glasses got into the passenger seat, so nervous he didn't even fasten his seatbelt. "Drive, drive faster, Umbrella must have found out, let's go quickly."
Rachel stepped on the accelerator, and the sports car roared away. "Fasten your seatbelt, sir, we will reach our destination in an hour."
"Impossible, how could it be so fast? Are you really sent by Senator Lorn to pick me up?" Frederick felt like he had gotten into the wrong car.
"That's right, but I'm just a CIA agent. General Morgan and the Senator will be waiting for you in another city. Relax, there's no problem!" Rachel explained calmly.
After the modification was complete, Rachel decided to work for Eddie. She was very addicted to this power, and it had no side effects. She also believed what Eddie said: immortality was not a dream; as long as the right method was found, everything was very simple.
Smart women don't need many words to be devoted, let alone having witnessed Eddie's prowess. Rachel was also very infatuated. Having a man to rely on was the best thing for a woman.
The entire Raccoon City seemed to be searching for someone. A wanted poster quickly spread throughout the city, and many agents began to act, searching for suspects according to the mugshot on the poster.
As Raccoon City began to blockade and check incoming and outgoing vehicles, Rachel just happened to leave with Frederick, who had stolen samples and data from the Umbrella research facility, narrowly avoiding the checks. Otherwise, they would have had to leave from the suburbs.
While the entire city was in a state of alarm, Eddie was unaffected. These past few days, he appeared openly on the streets, either checking on Emma's weapon progress at the weapons shop or treating his colleagues to lunch at the police station, living a remarkably comfortable life.
All of this was to show the surveillance, creating an alibi, although he truly wasn't present. The person who stole the secrets was Frederick, not him, but saving a little trouble was worth it.
In the coffee shop, the Mayor's daughter Katherine angrily looked at the man in front of her. "Eddie, you lied to me, you liar! You're not a good person at all."
Eddie lit a cigarette and said indifferently, "First, I want to state one thing: I was never a good person. Secondly, I didn't lie to you, and you'll know that if you look at these documents; I didn't lie to you."
Katherine took the tablet, which showed some dirty dealings between Raccoon City's Mayor Warren and Chief Brian. Both collaborated with Umbrella for their respective interests. Warren, in order to gain the power to be promoted to Senator, allowed Raccoon City to be infiltrated and supported by Umbrella, leading to Umbrella's dominance in Raccoon City.
The more she read this document, the more shocked she became. Finally, there was even a paternity test report for Warren and Katherine, which stated that the two had no blood relation.
"Liar! You're trying to lie to me again!" Katherine had originally intended to confront Eddie. This charming young lady was now somewhat dazed and at a loss, not knowing what to do.
"I don't need to lie to you. I just can't stand hypocritical people. Although I'm not a good person, I haven't become a bad person yet. If I did something, I'd admit it!" Eddie held his cigarette, somewhat resembling an underground boss.
Katherine sobbed a few times, then handed the tablet back. "Although he's not my biological father, he raised me for so many years. I can't hurt him. He's also been very good to me. Thank you, I need some time alone now."
"Wait, you'd best not believe Brian's words. He's not a good person, but a scumbag. When a scumbag knows he's about to die, he'll do all sorts of unbelievable things. Also, that Ben isn't a good person either. Reporters are rarely upright; in the Federation, more reporters work for money than for justice." Eddie said calmly.
"You're not a good person either, why should I believe you!" Katherine cried.
"Because I won't harm you. At least we're still friends. Thank you very much for the burger; I still remember you treating me to food. You still have a foster father, at least better than me. I'm just someone who has nothing, only an uncle who was framed and died." Eddie's expression was a little sad.
After hearing his words, Katherine stopped crying. "Why do you think I didn't say anything?"
"I'm not saying it to gain sympathy; I don't need it. I'm just telling you that some people are even more miserable than you. What reason do you have to be sad? If you lose everything, you still have me as a friend." Eddie smiled. If he had the ability, he would save this poor, beautiful young lady, at least so she wouldn't become a specimen.
Chapter 156: The Awakened Goddess, Alex
"It's fine, I'm indeed not a good person, you're not wrong. I'm just a bad person with principles, that's all. Alright, I have things to do, so I'll be leaving now." Eddie waved his hand. He only spoke to her because of her looks. If it were a dinosaur, there would be no need to talk; it would be better to just get out of the way.
