Wolf Mother delivered a high kick, her boot snapping a zombie that had just crawled out clean in half, the immense force tearing its spine apart!
This fierce move made the man's heart skip a beat; a woman who was too fierce was not always a good thing.
Thump! Just then, a Tyrant appeared on the street, its right arm grotesquely twisted, its protective suit discarded as it entered berserk mode. Its left hand had mutated into a giant claw, and its body was covered in thick scales that looked like hardened fibers.
"VECTOR, you three go. Take him out." Karena pulled out a large blade from her back. She felt very excited; the continuous, exhilarating slaughter had finally released her long-suppressed violent tendencies. Otherwise, she would have had to ask Eddie for help to resolve it.
VECTOR and the other two exchanged glances, then reluctantly stepped forward, working together.
VECTOR engaged the Tyrant using Japanese karate, while Hector Hivers, the demolitions expert, was responsible for setting powerful explosives. SPECTRE, the sniper, provided auxiliary fire with his sniper rifle.
It must be said that VECTOR's skills were extraordinary; he seemed to possess unique combat techniques, able to predict the Tyrant's attack trajectory and narrowly dodge its blows. He was indeed one of those praised by Hunk the Grim Reaper.
Hector Hivers used all of his inventory to set up a chain of explosive traps, incorporating the surrounding vehicles. The secondary sympathetic detonation created a trap capable of directly flipping a heavy main battle tank.
"It's ready, lure him over," Hector Hivers said before making his own escape.
VECTOR quickly ran out, while SPECTRE used a large-caliber sniper rifle to continuously push back the berserk Tyrant, attracting its aggro as if saying, "Come hit me, I'm asking for it!"
Chapter 236: Claire Gets Instantly Slapped in the Face
With SPECTRE's sniper rifle attacks, the Tyrant became extremely enraged and charged in SPECTRE's direction.
Precise shots blocked the Tyrant's movement, while he shifted his own position, guiding the Tyrant towards the detonator.
It stepped on a landmine, which instantly exploded, causing surrounding grenades to detonate in a chain reaction. Car fuel caps were opened, and flames and shockwaves traveled down the fuel lines into the gas tanks, causing the cars to also explode.
The chain of explosions blew off the Tyrant's arm again, and it fell to its knees, having sustained massive damage. Its bodily functions were destroyed, and at this point, the Tyrant was nearing its end.
"Die, monster!" VECTOR used a submachine gun to spray the Tyrant's head, riddling its skull, which had been made fragile by the explosion, and completely killing the monster.
"My explosives are all used up. If there's time, I need to collect and make more," Hector Hivers reported to Wolf Mother, the captain.
"When we reach the northern defense line, you'll get your supplies. If you don't have explosives, pick up your machine gun and fight, collecting along the way," Wolf Mother snorted.
She also wouldn't have survived that huge explosion; it was still risky.
A long-haired mercenary walked out of the subway station, "Did something happen to you guys? Hey, Eddie, it's good to see you, it's great that you're still alive."
The speaker was Carlos, from the Biohazard Countermeasure Unit, responsible for evacuating civilians.
"Of course I'm still alive. What are you doing here?" Eddie nodded. He hadn't expected to meet Carlos; it was just that he had taken Jill's place.
"We're evacuating civilians. There are too many zombies here, so we can only rely on the subway station to set up a temporary base. Do you want to retreat with us? You can catch a ride; the subway is still safe," Carlos tilted his head.
"That's not bad. You lead the way," Eddie nodded. He was still thinking about using the underground train to go north.
Although there were no abandoned cars blocking the way underground, this area was close to the sewers, so there might be mutated giant cockroaches and other monsters lurking.
In Raccoon City, both above and below ground were equally dangerous. Above ground, there were Raging Zombies and Lickers. If one was unlucky enough to encounter a Nemesis or a Tyrant, ordinary people would either die horribly or simply wait for death.
Following Carlos to the underground station, it was empty, with a subway train made of multiple carriages in the middle.
In the five carriages at the rear, there were still many rescued Raccoon City residents. These residents would travel by train to the Clock Tower at the northern demarcation line, and then leave through the streets of the Clock Tower.
In the messy subway environment, an old veteran with a beret, white hair, and resolute eyes sat on a chair in a carriage.
"Captain, I've brought back some helpers," Carlos reported inside the carriage.
"You really brought back an extraordinary person, Carlos!" Mikhail's tone was a little excited.
"Are you rescuing civilians? When do we leave?" Eddie took out a cigarette and offered one. Ada next to him proactively lit it for him.
"You are Eddie Cai, the vaccine creator. I'm very happy to meet you. If it's convenient, I'd like you to help us. Many of my soldiers have been bitten by zombies, and our previous vaccine has failed. I hope you can help us," Mikhail pleaded sincerely.
"Alright, if it were anyone else, I probably wouldn't bother, but you, you're alright. It's just that there are no research institutes nearby, so I can't even help you," Eddie shrugged.
"There's a medical facility nearby, perhaps it has some usable equipment, just one street over from the subway station. We also need to go to the nearby subway ground dispatch building to adjust the operating tracks, so you have plenty of time. Please, Dr. Eddie, I know you're a good person," Mikhail took off his beret. This old veteran exchanged his worthless dignity for the safety of his team members.
The surrounding team members also had red eyes. Anyone who followed Mikhail, this old veteran from the former Tsarist Russia, would be moved. He was a very good captain.
"I'll go take a look, but I can't guarantee anything. After it's done, you owe me a favor. Also, I want to make one thing clear: I'm not a good person. I'm just a relatively conscientious capitalist; cash on delivery," Eddie blew a smoke ring. He didn't want to be a good person and collect good person cards; that wasn't good.
"No problem, I owe you a favor. I can repay it anytime," Mikhail said solemnly. Veterans like him took promises very seriously and were also very valuable.
People without value had no need to be associated with.
"What a busy life. I'm leaving first, Claire, you all rest here," Eddie instructed.
"No, I'm coming with you. It's easier to find things with more people, and I won't be a burden," Claire's eyes were resolute. She didn't want to be a vase.
"Alright, suit yourself. Let's go, Hector Hivers, you and VECTOR go collect some combat supplies. There's a gun shop nearby," Eddie said, then walked out of the carriage again.
As night fell, the zombies also became more active. Night was more conducive to the atmosphere of predation.
"Try to fire as little as possible. The sound will attract most of the zombies. Although we're not afraid of zombies, there's no need for it," Eddie said calmly.
Claire held up a cylindrical device. "I've already prepared a silencer. Don't worry, I told you before, I won't be a burden."
Just as she finished speaking, Eddie pulled Claire aside. A proboscis stabbed down from the rooftop. On the roof was a Licker with crimson muscles and an exposed brain.
Thump! The Licker's leap was met with a mid-air kick from Eddie, sending it flying. When it landed again, the Licker's head and spine were already broken, deader than dead.
Claire felt quite embarrassed. She had just made a solemn promise, but in the next second, she was proven wrong.
Eddie let go of Claire, patted her shoulder, "Don't worry too much about these things. There's danger everywhere here. It's a good thing to train yourself. Keep it up, I have faith in you."
Chapter 237: There's a Monster
"Thank you, I'll work hard," Claire smiled sweetly, her eyes becoming resolute again. She didn't want to be a burden; she wanted to be a useful person.
This building was mostly a pharmacy with only some very rudimentary equipment. Making vaccines was simply impossible, though materials could be found.
Emma, surprisingly, picked out some potions. Her recovery ability didn't require these medicines, unless it was folic acid tablets needed during pregnancy.
"What do you need these potions for?" Moira asked, puzzled.
"These are all materials, used to stabilize the electromagnetic gun," Emma explained. She was a genius in weapon design, and her thought process was inherently different from ordinary people.
"Are you all ready? We need to return to the subway station. There's a subway there that can take us to University Town, if the equipment there is still functional," Eddie stated his plan.
Svetlana, however, seemed unimpressed. "Why are you so concerned about those mercenaries? Do you have some plan?"
"They still have value. They're saving civilians, and only living people who get out can become witnesses. The best way to keep Umbrella from bothering me is to make them too busy to deal with me. I save them, they work for me—a perfect transaction," Eddie smiled.
