Chapter 144 - 144

"Damn these zombies, eat bombs!" The demolitions expert, Highway, directly threw a grenade into a dense group of zombies.

A blast of air cleared out all zombies within five meters, but the zombies were too dense and quickly advanced again, stepping over the shattered corpses.

Tat-tat-tat! Assault rifles and submachine guns roared, tearing apart the zombies at the station.

The surviving mercenaries were all battle-hardened veterans who had experienced the horror of the zombie horde and had a certain understanding of zombies. At least they knew that only headshots could kill these inhuman monsters.

Bang! Svetlana's high heels continuously kicked sideways, directly sending zombie heads flying. After the second enhancement of the G-Virus, her speed was faster and her strength greater.

Ada was the same; as a strong woman like Svetlana, their combat techniques were quite similar. Strictly speaking, Svetlana might have a slight advantage.

The two strong women were the only second-stage enhanced individuals. Their strong will influenced the virus, making them appear younger and more beautiful, while also possessing considerable strength.

Compared to the mercenary carriage, which was already being approached by zombies, a large clear space had been made in front of Eddie's carriage, with the ground littered with zombies whose heads had been blown off.

Moira and Emma both picked up baseball bats, and with an unceremonious swing, they could smash a zombie's head. Seemingly delicate, they could unleash an exaggerated force of nearly a ton.

VECTOR from the Wolf Team also rushed out with a dagger. As a ninja, close-quarters combat and assassination were his preferred fighting styles.

Hector Hivers and SPECTRE, on the other hand, pushed forward with submachine guns. Compared to martial arts, they preferred to use firearms to kill enemies and conserve energy.

In less than ten minutes, a large area of zombies on the platform was cleared, with an incredibly exaggerated fighting style.

Carlos even gave Eddie a thumbs up, indicating that he was truly something to be able to command so many fiercely capable women; it was a unique display of strength and charm in itself.

Exiting the subway station, they found numerous police officers lying dead, having fought to the last moment, along with many corpses of members of the Biohazard Countermeasure Unit.

Besides that, there were also many bio-monsters: Brain Suckers, Hunters, and Lickers, though the Nemesis was nowhere to be seen. Various infected monsters had appeared here.

Walking towards the Clock Tower, they found even more animal carcasses here: zebras, camels, ostriches, giraffes, and more.

"What exactly happened here?" Carlos felt very confused. He had brought some people to investigate, and everything here looked like the aftermath of a brutal massacre.

"These are animals from Raccoon City Zoo. There's a circus inside, and the zoo, which just finished construction not long ago, has all sorts of animals. There must have been a crisis at the zoo, causing the animals to escape." Eddie frowned. As he walked past some animal carcasses, he could still see a few zombies gnawing on flesh.

Bang! Eddie didn't hesitate, directly shooting these zombies.

"No way, if there are elephants, lions, and tigers in this zoo, wouldn't that be a complete disaster?" Carlos swallowed. Although he had disregarded life and death when he was a mercenary, no one wanted to die miserably.

"There really are. The zoo is very large, and it even has artificially raised crocodiles. How big do you think it is? We'd best prepare for the worst. If there really are elephants, it would take at least a main battle tank to take them down." Eddie's expression was grim; even he wouldn't easily deal with an infected, mutated elephant.

The further they walked, the louder the gunshots became. It seemed many mercenaries were still fighting, and Chief Marvin's shouts could also be heard.

"It seems they're still holding on. Let's go see. After we've assessed the situation, we'll decide whether to bring the survivors to the surface. Actually, these matters are your concern; I'm just a small civilian, and it's not my business." Eddie was unwilling to take charge.

Tat-tat-tat! The group began a pincer attack with their firepower, killing zombies and some mutated animals, successfully meeting up below the Clock Tower.

Chapter 241: Police Officer Rita's Background

The two-meter-high barricade did indeed block many zombies, and it was somewhat difficult for ordinary people to climb over it.

Ada elegantly stomped her high heel on the ground, and her whole body leaped over, not even touching the barbed wire.

Svetlana was no exception; as soon as Ada landed, she followed, as if there was a sense of competition between them. Among strong women, neither would back down; backing down would mean not being a queen.

Moira and Emma, on the other hand, pushed off the wall and jumped over in a few moves. A height of two meters was not very difficult, and this was even to conceal their abilities a bit, not to be too exaggerated.

Only Claire was a bit helpless; to get across, she had to climb over the barbed wire. She was just a college student who could fly planes and use various firearms. Wait, it seems some strange words were mixed in there.

"Is it difficult? I'll carry you over. It's no trouble, just hold on tight." Eddie had barely finished speaking when, the next second, he jumped with Claire. When they landed again, they had already crossed the two-meter-high barbed wire barricade.

"Thank you." Claire smiled, not minding these details. She had long since mentally prepared herself.

On the other side, Carlos was still struggling to climb over the barbed wire to find Chief Marvin and discuss the arrangement of survivors.

Eddie came over to Kevin. "What's the situation now? Any plans for evacuation?"

"I don't know yet. The Guard said they'll arrange a helicopter at the Clock Tower to pick up survivors. We just need to hold this place. The zoo's gate was breached, and a large number of mutated animals rushed out, including mutated rhinos. Fortunately, we still have two main battle tanks, or it would have been awful," Kevin said casually.

His carefree demeanor made it hard to believe Kevin's words. Was it really that serious?

"But both tanks were damaged and scrapped by the rhinos. We still don't know how many mutated monsters are in the zoo, and that's the most troublesome part," Leon said, delivering bad news.

"That's truly exciting news. With so many mutated animals, I don't think the Clock Tower will fare well. The south gate of the zoo faces us, and the north gate leads to the north. Neither location is good for us," Eddie said, frowning.

"It's just a zoo, is it really that terrifying?" Leon had faced Hunters and Lickers before. Although these two creatures were difficult to deal with, with the right methods, they could be easily eliminated.

"Of course. The zoo has two star attractions: one is Oscar, a huge, trained performing elephant, and the other is Max, a male lion also trained for performances. An elephant and a male lion, neither is easy to deal with," Eddie analyzed.

"Don't worry about it so much. Come, have a drink. Although we're not supposed to drink during missions, this isn't a normal time. Without alcohol to numb our nerves, some people might just go crazy," Kevin said, unable to help but smile bitterly.

In this battle, so many familiar colleagues had died, and sometimes, facing those colleagues who had risen from the dead, he still had to shoot them to prevent them from harming others. This feeling of killing former friends was truly unbearable.

Leon also lowered his head in pain. Although he hadn't worked in Raccoon City for long, he had felt the warmth of his colleagues here. However, those warm colleagues, after rising from the dead, were just as 'warm,' and 'getting along' with these colleagues was really not a good thing.

Chief Marvin, the Black man, walked over. "Kevin, please bear with it. Take your people to the subway station. There are over a hundred citizens who need to be escorted to the Clock Tower."

"Alright, Leon, we're off on another mission." Kevin didn't refuse. Although his personality was laid-back, that was his style, but if he was given a task, he could still complete it very well.

"VECTOR, the three of you go collect firearms and ammunition nearby. Claire, you all rest for a bit; the Clock Tower is relatively safe," Eddie instructed.

Marvin suddenly called out to Eddie. "Eddie, wait, there's something I'd like to trouble you with. There are still many people at the police station. Raccoon City has fallen now, and we need to evacuate all personnel to the Clock Tower, then figure out a way to leave Raccoon City."

"So what do you want me to do?" Eddie crossed his arms.

"You help me go to the precinct once, lead the police officers holding out there to escape. They've lost contact; David at the communication desk was attacked and died, and the remaining people don't know how to use the communication desk to contact us," Marvin said apologetically.

"The roads from here to the precinct are all blocked. Getting there won't be easy," Eddie said, unwilling to accept the proposal.

Marvin looked left and right. "Rita is also at the precinct. Her father is a senator. Saving her would be beneficial to you as well."

"Uh, Marvin, I didn't expect you to actually encourage me to hit on a girl!" Eddie teased.

"I'm not encouraging you, just reminding you. I don't have anything good to reward you with. It's a pity Chief Brian has lost contact, or the situation wouldn't be so anxious." Marvin sighed. He just didn't want to leave any member behind.

"Alright, since you've said so, I can only listen to you. I'll hurry over. Returning via the subway is the fastest way." Eddie finished speaking and prepared to leave.

"Wait, take this badge. If they don't listen to you, you can show them. This is a temporary emergency badge, which grants the authority of the chief." Marvin handed over a special badge.

Eddie took the badge. "Oh, I forgot to tell you, Brian was attacked by a monster, mortally wounded, and has died. You don't need to wait for him."

"What? That's truly tragic news." Marvin lowered his head.

"Laugh if you want, everyone knows Brian wasn't a good person anyway. Oh, by the way, where are Uncle Enrico and the others?" Eddie suddenly thought of his former colleagues. Could they have been killed by the Nemesis?

"They're on the other side rescuing some survivors. There are still many people hiding in rooms. We're doing our best to rescue all citizens," Marvin said, looking north, where flames still raged, just like the current situation.
